This should be a fun and productive weekend for everyone involved! A....we get to hear Luna play YEAH!!!!! B.......we get to hear the Rugburns (which I have never had the privilege to hear) and C........we will get to help some unfortunate people make it through the winter just a little bit easier! I just went to Mapquest (which Rowdy was kind enough to include the address for in a previous E-mail) and although it gives directions, it doesn't quite give them all the way to the house. (You see I live in the woods....which is nice because we can listen to music as loud as we want and not disturb anyone) What I'll do is put signs out on the main road, and also E-mail exact directions to whomever is coming. Just let me know so that I can get them to you. =) So all of that being said. I'd really appreciate it if everyone who is coming would RSVP to me so that I can get an approximate head count. I'll probably make some burgers on the grill and grab some chips and Cokes etc. If there are any vegetarians.....let me know, and let me know what I can pick up for you. After all we don't want anyone to feel left out or go hungry! =) Now it won't be anything elaborate, but I'll try to make you all feel at home! So......let's all get ready for a great weekend!!! Kristie Oh....as far as the time. I'm fairly open. I may not get home until 6:30 or 7 from work, so anytime after that. Also a reminder, there is no running water in the guest houses....so be prepared for that. We do have a functioning well, but no running water. Think of it as an adventure! Can't wait to hear from everyone!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2000 16:22:32 EST From: PENo14230@aol.com Subject: [EDA] [NJC] Friends lost in house fire Howdy ya'll, I'm writing from South Cackilacky (Carolina), for no better reason than to get something off my chest. Last night, three people died in a house fire not far from my place. Two men and a woman died, as well as the animals inside. I knew the men, not too well, but I was hoping I'd get to know 'em better. Their dog, Cricket, was also a friend of mine, very special dog that would hold something of a conversation with you (no shit). Well, these country folk might not have been anyone special by today's standards, but the talks we had were very special. Both of them had been on the chaingang, been in two wars, been married, had families, and they survived all that. Well, after spending the whole weekend camped out and partying with 'em (one helluva drinking binge), I've come to realize something now that they are gone. After you die, the only thing that matters are the things you lived through, the experiences, the good times and bad. If anyone is feeling ungrateful today, maybe they'll sing a different tune after reading this. It still sucks that we've lost a few good people (and a dog) when there are so few of 'em left. I know that someone was talking about this awhile back, and I >was just curious. How many songs (approx.) does Jewel have up to date? >Does anyone know this? Thank you! =) The last time I posed this question to MrBB, which was well over 18 months ago, the number was over 750 original songs, many of which she never performed in public (the breakdown THEN seemed like it was 500/250, performed to not performed). Knowing how prolific she is at songwriting, and all the new ones we've heard about recently, I would guess the number now easily has to be over 900. Jewel was the last video, it just went off, I am sure they will rerun it later tonite. It was hilarious! She had some pretty funny quotes up there, and they of course had quotes about her teeth, funny but kinda mean, and some about her poetry, also funny but mean at the same time. It's good though, you all should try and watch it. Howdy from South Cackilacky, I was deleting most of the list's mail, as usual, because I look for the important, need to know Jewel related stuff. Well, I keep coming along the card issue, same as every other Christmas, and this year I see something new. People are having "failure to communcate" (no, communicate IS spelled right). This year, people have found more things to argue about than in ANY OTHER YEAR. I find this rather dis-heartening and dis-enchanting. This year, people have even started bickering and arguing about the cards. Now, I don't really know why, but is there even a point to the reason? Katie, I encourage you to go ahead with the cards, even though I don't celebrate any holiday, lol, but I know those cards will be appreciated. I think some of the list members have gotten rather out of hand with the arguing of a point, not just now, but also in the past. Ok, here's the deal; I'm getting tired of watching screen after screen of negative posts that hold no purpose. Has everyone heard of the saying "...if you can't say something nice, don't say nuthin". I don't know about the rest, but down South we know lots of sayings, and we learned how to work 'em. We also learned that it's appreciated by others.
