SHADOW'S PLAY Kiss me now, and take me down, my love Open up the tender flower of love Like a bird, you'll feel my heart inside Beating with the rhythm of the tide I'll raise my mouth, just like a glass, you'll drink Tangerine lips and water deep Rising up, I feel that ancient song Playing to the rhythm of the dawn Oh I feel what you're saying When words aren't in the way In the darkness I can feel you Shadow's play Strange, how now I'm jealous of the day As the dawn carries you away But when nighttime spreads it's starry wings For you alone, I sing Oh I feel, oh I feel what you're saying When words aren't in the way In the darkness I can feel you Shadow's play Shadow's play "I am wanting, and... I am needing you To be here Inside the absence of fear" ~Jewel _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hey everyone, Aye, I agree with Luna on this. From what I understand, the EveryDay Angel Foundation does not actively seek donations, so some self-motivated donations could not but help. So, heck, if you have some money sitting around and want to donate it, I think the EDAF would be a very good, in fact a great choice... BUT... Money is good, and all that, but please do not let it be a substitute for maybe actually getting out and donating a little sweat along with those dollars. =Þ Dennis of the Harris' posted about a very nifty idea of helping with Second Harvest later this year as a Christmas project. That would be a great project, or as someone else mentioned, a blanket drive and such things as that. As for TXEDAs, I think getting together for a food bank project would be great, and there are several areas we could do it: 1. Houston. There are quite a few EDAs hidden in and fairly close to Houston, and the town seems to have a decent Food Bank which is actively seeking volunteers. The website is at: http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/ 2. Austin. There are a couple of EDAs in the area, and besides, it is kinda in a central area, so the travel would be a little more equal for some of us. Also, Austin has the only Second Harvest food bank I could find in Texas at the moment. They also seem to be actively looking for help. The URL: http://www.austinfoodbank.org/ 3. Dallas/Fort Worth. There are also some EDAs around Dallas and Cowtown, and I always seem to be around the area. DFW is kinda a big area, and I'm sure they have more than one foodbank, but right now I'm only including the Tarrant County Food Bank, which is at: http://www.tarrantfoodbank.org/ 4. San Antonio. Well, it is sort of south of where most of the EDAs live, and of the couple of EDAs I knew that lived down there, I haven't heard from in awhile, so I haven't search for any foodbanks in the area... Sorry. Besides, San Antone is fairly close to both Austin and Houston. Anyway, there are some ideas for a place for us to get together. Of what I have read on the above sites, most of them would like groups of five or more, so it might be better if we all try to get together for one project (and more fun, besides). Though, I guess we could have two projects if distance is going to be an issue. Personally, I think Houston or Austin would be the best places, due to need, number of EDAs, location, but ya'll know me... I don't know where I'm going to be tomorrow, much less in a couple of months! =Þ So, my opinion should mean little, besides, speaking for myself, Texas is kinda small anyway... ;-) I guess we need to see who all wants to do this, and where (and all those other "W" questions!) So, ya'll keep in touch... Zerberts, Rowdius ____ - --A student was trying for enlightenment for many years, but could not succeed. One day, the zen master picked up his bamboo cane and whapped him across the head with it. Suddenly, the student was enlightened. Damn right. I'd get enlightened real fast too if that was the alternative. >From: "li'l waternymph" >To: jewel@smoe.org >Subject: [EDA] donating to EDAF? >Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 23:00:30 -0500 > >hey everyone..... > >i have been thinking about what we should do for christmas this year with >jewel in mind, and i was wondering if it might be a good idea to donate >to the EDAF. i know we have donated to HGH before, and that is good, but >let me lay this out on the table before you: the EDAF is not funded by a >millionaire. Then the name Astrud Gilberto came into my mind but "Shadows Play" is nothing like "The Girl from Ipanema". But it has finally hit me. Gilberto sang on a few tracks of a Stan Getz album: "Getz au Go Go" (1964). I'll have to see if I still have the album and have a listen again. Jewel and Gilberto are really nothing alike -- it's probably more the Getz sound with the Brazilian touch of Gilberto. And thanks to Stace for doing the lyrics of what I think is a really nice and very interesting song. I hope Jewel does more jazz-style work. It suits her. Take care, Barry Howarth ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #362 ***************************
