And that's all they are - OPINIONS. I don't think *everything* Jewel does is amazing, but she's my favorite artist so quite a lot of the stuff she does IS amazing! Because I like her style and I like what she does. 'Shadow's Play' is a new song, sort of a new style for Jewel, and I think it works. Really. Not just because I'm kissing Jewel's ass. I think her voice fits with it perfectly and it's a nice relaxed vibe. Not a work of genius like Stephenville maybe, but still a nice song. To me. No, I don't like every song Jewel writes - some of the acoustic songs do kind of drag on a bit too long for me, but I like most of her 'band' songs, and when she tries to branch out, try a new style like this, or like 'Serve The Ego' or 'Under The Water' I really do like it - because it's so different and it's interesting to see Jewel adapt to the new styles like she does. So people might think the song is cheesy, or just plain awful, but there's no point spending all day arguing or pondering over it. We're all different people, we all have different opinions, and we're never all gonna agree on everything... Sean probably will never agree on *anything*, but hey that's Sean for ya. I think most of us just accept that now :). Thankyou, Tom. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000 16:53:51 EDT From: EastAngelEDA@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Sick Stories I missed Jewel at Lilith Fair in Cincinnati, OH. I had the tickets since they went on sale here, and I was so excited. I had gone to Florida with my youth group, and found out that I was allergic to seaweed in it's "natural living habitat." I went home, and I was so swollen in my throat that I couldn't even swallow my own spit, and to top it off, I would've gone to the concert like that, but then I got mono! Oh how bad it sucked! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000 16:05:09 GMT From: "Darwin Cuenca" Subject: [EDA] you guys are giving us a lot of stress hi to all the angels, im very disappointed for what the attidute u showed to us. after reading your quarrel posts, u really gave us a stressed day. i just thought that after reading the jewel-digest my school pressure will be lessened but u really make me sicked. i hope u should directly send your quarrel post to a particular person u hated & not letting everybody read it. its like having a quarrel in public areas where people are looking and staring at you wondering what the heck are u fighting and arguing for. so pls. stop it right away. thanks. God bless. p. s. PLEASE dont hate me for what i wrote, its the best thing for all of us/ darwin sleeping angel ;-) I'd rather see the world from another angle. We are everyday angels. A lot of us will follow all of what Jewel does simply because it's Jewel. She will always have the same voice and I can't speak for everyone, but personally that is what I love the most about Jewel is her voice. It's hypnotizing, it's like no other, it's just Jewel. And I bet you would at least try it out if Jewel did a song with Pantera or Ice Cube or whomever. You would, we all would because we want to see what she does next. Whether or not we like it is a different story. I think it just means that these people are all for change and obviously Jewel likes to try new stuff so I'm all for it. You guys need to remember all of the singers and songwriters that Jewel likes and realize that they must have an affect on her and naturally she would branch out to a lot of differnt music styles. Ella Fitzgerald to Merle Haggard to Bob Dylan. It's amazing how she incorporates all of these sounds into her own style. Not saying she's trying to sound like these people, but if you listen you can hear them and it's awesome. Just pretend the first time you ever saw Jewel was on the Leno or Letterman show this past week or so, it's a different song, but really how different is Jewel from when she sang WWSYS on Letterman and Leno the first time? GO watch your tapes, she's the same chicky! You can't get that voice out of your head even if you tried. Ten years from now, one of her songs will come on the speakers in a department store and it will still make you feel the same way that song makes you feel today when that song is on repeat in your cd player's or what have you. ~Yvonne~ > >Hi everyone, > >I was just thinking about peoples post's and thinking how people react >to Jewel differently. Barry Howarth and someone else mention they'd be >following Jewel in anything she does. I can't understand this? EDA's, Hey. I just thought i'd give my 2 cents. When I heard the song "Shadows Play", it reminded me of a song that was in a video game called Final Fantasy 7. In a town called Costa Del Sol, a mexican town, they play instrumentals almost EXACTLY the same. There's my input. =) -John ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000 21:45:42 EDT From: TigressWH@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Sick Stories Well, this isn't a Jewel story, but it's definitley a sick story. I was in New York visiting the guy who owns my camp..and my two best friends. I had the flu, which included a cough, a runny nose..and a fever all in one. It was mid December, and it was freezing outside! The origional plans were that we would pick them up from Penn Station on Friday night, and then on Saturday..we would pick up our friend Lauren, and then see 'Rent' that night. On Friday, we went to Penn Station to pick up Mandi and Nikki. 7:30 came by, and no sign of them. 8:00 came by, and no sign of them still. 9 came by, and there they are. I had been sitting in that freakin' train station, with a fever and a cough for two hours. I was sooo mad at them, I didn't talk to htem for like two hours. So then we went to have Chinese food, and everything was okay. So the next day, they were going to go to Queens and meet a friend of theres, while I went shopping. ANd then they would meet me at the theator. Did they show up? No. So I had to wait outside for like an hour. And they still didn't show up. So I go inside, and enjoy the show. During the intermission, I checked my voice messages..and there were two from them. And, there was no train. So, I had to go all the way from Broadway, to Queens..to pick them up. By the time I got home it was like 2:30. To this day, I still haven't forgiven them. I don't think I ever will.. ~Katie~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000 23:00:03 EDT From: SpiritEDA@aol.com Subject: [EDA] CDTD Hey guys, I`m confused, I went to the local Barnes and Nobles today to get the new Jewel book (and some great coffee) and the guy said that it didnt come out until next year.
