I figure I might as well pass this info on to everyone. I've been recording live shows for the past few years. I use an MD recorder and a pair of binaural mics. The best way to conceal these? After a little experimentation, I've found that the best way is to find an old pair of headphones and take out their speakers. Then, simply replace the speakers with the mics. No one will be the wiser that you have mics hidden in your headphones. If security is REALLY tight, I suggest you put the mics down the front of your pants. It sounds kind of funny, but it's very effective since security is generally unwilling to check there. Hope this helps. Here are some directions and information for the upcoming Survivor Beach Cleanup weekend in New Jersey..... The actual beach cleanup will begin at 10am on Saturday, September 16. Directions to the South Amboy Waterfront are at the end of this post. Many people will be arriving at the "Campbell Inn" (aka Tammy & Rob's house) on Friday night, however, and staying through Sunday. The Survivor festivities and competitions will begin on Friday night but you will be able to join in at any point during the weekend. For "reservations" and directions to the Campbell's, please email Tammy at TLCathome@aol.com. Floor space is limited and going fast! Saturday night there will be an incredible Living Room Concert featuring Randi Driscoll from Southern California who's in the NYC area recording her second album. A little info about Randi: in February, she was 1 of a small handful selected out of 4,000 people to be flown to NYC to film a commerical directed by Spike Lee for the IAM.com website. She has also been performing all over the country - including Washington, DC at the Millenium March - as a result of a beautiful song she wrote about Matthew Shephard, a man who was murdered because he was gay. All the proceeds from the song go to anti-hate groups. You can check out the song and get the full story at Randi's website: www.randidriscoll.com. In case you haven't gotten the message, you definitely want to be at this LRC! As an even extra added bonus, it looks like Luna Taylor will still be in the area and will treat us to a few of her songs as well. She absolutely knocked everyone's socks off at my house on Labor Day weekend. THE BEACH CLEANUP: Please plan to arrive around 10, as we will be going over instructions; passing out gloves, garbage bags, and data cards; and signing the liabability waiver (this is required per the NJ Adopt-A-Beach program rules). If you are under 18 and planning to attend, you MUST let me know in advance so I can send you a form for your parent or legal guardian to sign. Here are the directions to "Angel Beach" (aka the South Amboy Waterfront)...... GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTH: Exit into the Cheesequake Service area (it's near exit 122 and has a Mobil station). (OK, I guess not ALL of you, but a lot of you!) :-) Amy "Heaven help me for I am lost, what a price my love did cost, but here I am standing strong and I am free, and didn't we share the same sunrise and sleep in the same moonlight, isn't the blood in my veins the same blood you bleed....so who cares whose arms I'm all wrapped up in, who cares whose eyes I see myself in, who cares who I dream of, who cares who I love.....'cause in the end it only matters that I was loved and am loved" --What Matters by Randi Driscoll ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 23:49:09 -0700 From: Steve Subject: * Re: Jewel's Stance on Recording Shows?! >>Hi there... >I've been on the EDA list for quite some time now, but maybe I'm just >spacing out and don't remember, but I'm curious about her stance on >recording shows.. I believe the official stance is still 'no taping', but taping has occurred ever since her shows in 1995. And given that this mailing list has even treed one of the shows I taped, I'll let you draw you own conclusions. No soundboard patches, as that is just an open invitation for quality bootlegs to surface in no time. Soundboard recordings for made for her personal archive though, but those are not traded. If you're going to a state fair type show, I wouldn't worry too much about sneaking in a recorder and mics. Throw it into your backpack and walk in. To be on the safe side, see if security is checking bags, etc., and adjust accordingly. Use a fanny pack for your recorder to have easy access to check levels, and you'll probably have to hold the mics unless you can clip it to your clothing and not have it draw attention to you. And if you check your surroundings you might be able to see how lax security is. Jewel's show in San Juan Capistrano was openly videotaped by people in the audience, so there wasn't too much reason to go stealth. To any one who watched it (even though the Hosts sucked!!!) remember when the Red Hot Chili Peppers did their show.... well on the screen in the back ground there were pictures, one looked like a wierd Budda or something, the other one that i remember looked like a girl...maybe Jewel, kinda a cartoon drawing, kinda in Jewels style of drawing...like her Print that she has for sale, and also like in the cover of Bits and baubles, and probable her rare interchange tapes or what ever she did drawings for.... So QUESTION....does anyone know if it is suppose to be Jewel or if she had anything to do with it? Remember that FLEA is her buddy! they are good friends....so i was just wondering could Jewel have a part in this.... Thanks Kevin the hard life Angel..... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2000 18:42:15 -0700 (PDT) From: Juliet Forbes Subject: * Easy Jewel Tabs I know this question is asked about a million times, but I was wondering what is some of the easier Jewel songs to learn how to play on the guitar?
