Now, I have been listening to Spirit lately quite a bit and have been stuck on the song Absence of Fear over and over again. In my opinion Jewel sums up the meaning of love in the statement 'absence of fear'. It seems to me that the comfort of being loved removes fear, fear of the harsh outside world and fear of becoming the person whose shadow we truly are (sorry about the obscure Plato reference :) I guess what I am asking is how do you other EDAs feel about this perception of love. I think I have been in love once in my life. She left me long ago, yet always a Yeats poem entitled 'A Deep Sworn Vow' from The Wild Swans at Coole haunts me, whispering to me that love is still there. The feelings I felt seem to be best expressed in song Absence of Fear, they being that I did not feel afraid to become what I truly should be. Without her love my self perception is pretty much summed up in the song 'Carnivore' (unfortunately). In loneliness I'm curious as to whether others have felt the same in their perceptions of love and whether other EDAs think that this kind of love can exist more than once. Thank you all for sharing your feelings and emotions. Ben, The Homeless Angel PS Does anyone know where I can get another copy of a CD entitled 'Everyday Angle'. Its looks like a home-burned copy recorded in '96 at Vancouver and Bearsville. My copy is getting really bad from overuse and I didn't have the foresight to back it up to MP3s. PPS (Mike as always you can moderate this out, I am just thinking that volume seems to be low and this might get through :) PPPS If you want to email me privately instead of posting to the list feel free to do so. - -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 6.5.8 for non-commercial use iQA/AwUBObsQyYRh350DASBREQI72ACgnFwtCl9jwC4BZgjsm34pYo+51S8AoIzK 2N6WfGqe4UDi1sS0tZzc27zb =IjM5 - -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Sep 2000 04:24:37 EDT From: CleaningDuster@aol.com Subject: * Jewel and LOder interview on mtv Hey guys, I was watching MTV Uncensored today and the Jewel interview with Kurt was on. My friend is making a trip to San Diego....and I wanted her to go to a couple well known places that Jewel played and hung out at and such to take pictures. But I wasn't sure exactly where to send her. I mean of course go to the Innerchange, but the only problem is I don't know any of the adresses to any of the places she should go. So can anybody help me as to where I can send her, cause I really want pictures. Steve was on hand and jazzed it up as always. the best part of the show was when Jewel asked for the fans from the Interchange days to request an older song... the fans went nutz and were shouting out songs left and right. then me being in the front row with my loud voice shouted "Race Car Driver" and Jewel quickly said, "Race Car Driver? I haven't sung that one in a while. I'm not sure if i remember how it goes,, but i'll try." So she jammed!! it sounded great. then she got stuck and asked me if i knew the rest of the lyrics (of course i didn't) so she then asked the girl next to me (who did) to join her on stage and help her out. so, the girl was lifted on styage by the bouncers and did a great job!! my lesson... know the words to ALL of jewels songs if you are in the front row of her show... none the less, i had a blast and got some great shots... plus a 5 second Real Audio segment of Jewle and Steve singing YWMFM.... enjoy my photos... please take anyones you like... just give me credit for them.. thanks, - --josh ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #287 ***************************
