Second is Quiet Warrior - A New Zealand Tribute to Jewel. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stadium/7485/main.html More Jewel real audio than you can poke a stick at. Third by certainly by no means least is Jewel Arena. They have a link to an ftp site that is loaded with Jewel mp3's.. here is the link: ftp://mp3:mp3@209.90.117.84:21/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Sep 2000 12:57:05 -0400 From: "Percelyte" Subject: * MP3's In response to Nikki's email, I have to say this: I share my computer with 3 people also. and yes I have 400 megs of music here which is I think is alot too, but I can go out and spend 220$ for a 30.5 gigabyte hd. You all share it, and you all can pitch, but as for the rest of us we don't just get jewel songs. How else are we supposed to find out about new artists, as well as new songs. 220$ compared to the thousands we would spend listening to songs that we don't even like. So is it worth spending 14 - 20 $ a pop for a cd with only a few songs worth listening to, or get the files you want and listen to the ones you want. To me it make no sense. I love jewel, and I Love of all her albums. I think I don't like 10 of her songs . She's worth buying the cd's but the mp3's dictated that for me. If I didn't download the songs to listen to them, I wouldn't have gone out and bought it. I believe in listen first buy later theory, and then go back and delete the files. Makes sense that way Lawrence ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Sep 2000 13:02:30 -0400 From: "Percelyte" Subject: * Answer to Scott Evans Question >I was just thinking about Spirit, and I thought 'Hmm.. If Spirit had started >out with a bang, with Down So Long or the Jupiter remix, and then the >catchy, but slower Hands second, would it have done better.. Radio didn't >give Down So Long a chance at all because...I don't know, maybe a Jewel >burnout? But it's a great and catchy song, and as a first single, it >would've done great.. I guess maybe all this thinking was just >disappointment that a record as great as Spirit didn't do better.. I guess >if her fourth album is a hit, it would boost all the people who just kind >of passed over Spirit.. Oh well.. =) >Scott Evans I would have to disagree with you on that point. I first have to say that I am still new as a fan of Jewels. I always hear her music on the radio. Radio is a tough industry. It either helps your career or it slows it down. Now to make my point, hands is the most popular song in new england. From rock stations, to pop station, even classical stations play her music. She's very popular up here, and would do extremely well to have a concert in the new england area, especially CT or RI. Radio stations play songs based on the requests of the listeners. IF they request certain songs from different artists, they compile a new directory of songs to keep those listeners. I'll Give you a prime example: Faith Hill and Martina McBride are probably the most listen to country singers. You always hear them on the radio, you always see them on VH1, or MTV, and you always see them in concert at least once a year in your area. Radio ratings and requests for their songs are very high, and go back to their first cd's. Now this a where radio is at its best. Because the artists combine forces with the radio industry. On the other hand, Patty Loveless, Allison Krauss again country singers, been around and a little longer than the two mentioned above, but I rarely hear Patty or Allison. Why? Because radio killed them. The artists didn't work with them, no effort, and as a result, patty's been on vacation for two years, now trying to make a come back and I've heard her new song only once. She needs that effort. Vince Gill is in the same boat, but he's making a huge comeback. Always hear him now, I forgot he existed. Well I made a long speech, but Jewel needs to come back is to put the effort back in. Now she's has to put a poll together and find out where her biggest support is in the us, start there and work your way back. I can't tell you how many Connecticut Fans would to see her in concert. We always talk about it in MS Chat or AOL...etc. Not saying we're bigger than anyone else, but we are here. Our opinions, in the chat rooms, is for her to concentrate at home, meaning the US. Then go overseas. That's enough writing, it's 1146 and I woke up 20 min ago...... Kinda like a big 'ol club house. So I started up FrontPage and whipped up a little something I'd like each of you to take a look at. I haven't developed a lot of graphics for the site yet because I want to tailor the site to our needs first. Once the site is "ironed out", I'll fancy it up. As for now I'd really like it if you'd check it out and let me know what you like and what you'd like to see. I really want to make a site just for us to hang out. I'd also like to hear feedback from Mike and Mr. BB as well. Well, here's the site, let me know what you think: http://www.deepwaterstudios.com/eda/index.htm Thanx, Jason ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Sep 2000 21:23:19 EDT From: EDAFinfo@aol.com Subject: * NJC: EDAF: Survivor Beach Cleanup Weekend Welcome to the newest EDA Gathering, "SURVIVOR 1.5: THE CLEAN UP" Millions of television viewers watched the cutthroat tactics of the CBS series "Survivor". The biggest secret of the summer was supposed to be the identity of the final survivor. Actually, the biggest secret was the location of Survivor Beach. No, the series was NOT filmed in the South China Seas, but in South Amboy, New Jersey... on our very own adopted ANGEL BEACH!!! Along the way, this pristine beach was cluttered with trash, corporate promotional items and the other wonderful things often left on beaches. Your mission, should you choose to attend, is to help clean up that debris and whatever else you may find. It will take cunning, skill, and rubber gloves to complete this task. Along the way, other skills will be tested, in friendly competitions to determine our own "EDA Survivor." The cleanup is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Sept.16th. The weekend festivities and fun begin Friday evening and last through Sunday. Rob and Tammy Campbell have once again agreed to open their home in Matawan, NJ to visting EDAs for another great weekend at the new and improved "Campbell Inn". If you want to attend any part of the Survivor Beach Cleanup Weekend, please contact Amy at w1ggy2@aol.com. And don't worry, you will be allowed ONE luxury item! This year we have an extra added bonus -- a Living Room Concert with RANDI DRISCOLL, an extraordinary Southern California singer/songwriter who will be in the NYC area recording her second album. The show will be held Saturday night. The cleanup is part of the Everyday Angels Foundation's annual support for the Center for Marine Conservation's national beach and waterway cleanups. If you can't get to the New Jersey cleanup, we encourage you to see the list your local events on the CMC web site at: http://www.cmc-ocean.org/cleanupbro/coastwee.php3 Remember, life's a beach -- clean it up!
