I've been a next to non-existent EDA for the past 6 months or so. I've been so busy working over the summer and then school started back for me on August 2nd! (Isn't that CRAZY???) OH well...the sooner it starts, the sooner this year is over and the sooner I am a senior...and then I graduate...finally! Anyway....so this is how i became an EDA... It was 1998, i believe. Jewel had really just eluded me for a couple of years with Who Will Save your Soul. Then she got a little more popular. I was reading in "Twist" Magazine and it was some article like "20 things we bet you didn't know about jewel" Really basic little facts and blah blah blah...at the bottom, though, it talked about the EDAs! I was like "Hmmm..." At this point in my life, i was a bit depressed and Jewel really began giving me hope but you know, I was too busy being an 8th gade child to really care...so it escaped me once again. Well, then I got into her AGAIN and I was like 'what about this list....the EDAs that I read about??" so I signed on to my AOL account, searched the member directory, asked some EDAs for the address to the site and with a hop, skip, and a jump..i was an EDA...I have been ever since...and it's wonderful...this all happened around...May 1999 :) Then, i was just on the list...but i got sick of my mailbox being full so I switched to digest...actually...i believe i was subscribed to Jewel List, Jewel News, AND Jewel Digest....hey...i didn' tknow any better... :P That's it! Why are we making tapes and sending them just so that the quality (that's probably already not the best) can just diminish and diminish. Why not put these songs the computer.. thereby preserving the original recording quality and making them available to everybody within just a few minutes. I mean anybody with even a soundcard on their computer can digitize songs. Also, with MP3 the file sizes are not as monstrous as they would be using WAVE files or something. And if you're worried about people burning the files onto CD and selling them for profit, don't. if these songs originate from a tape, the quality is not going to increase because they're on the computer. nobody would be able to pass off a taped show for real good quality ... and if they can, tape trading isn't stopping them.. it's just sort of slowing down the process for the rest of us. I would LOVE to get my hands on a bunch of these new songs.. and on the concerts that Jewel is doing in september (I'm sure they'll be recorded)... but using the internet to transfer this stuff around would be SO much more efficient for me.. and for a lot of us. When I bought tickets from tickets.com before for a sold out concert they cost $150/each, but the Jewel tickets aren't inflated prices, and not available on ticketmaster, so I guess this is the only way to buy them?
