What a great review! I am really excited to read this book. It sounds like we will learn a lot about Jewel from it. I wonder how many things that were too personal were left out from it-- I also wonder if she discusses her relationship with Steve at all-- I can't wait to find out... - -- Chrissy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Aug 2000 21:51:16 -0400 From: Scott Evans Subject: * Jewel mention in book I read Cradle and All by James Patterson (excellent, try it...He also wrote Kiss The Girls) for English, and there's a cute little Jewel mention on p.146, the start of Chapter 50.. Kathleen was weak and exhausted. I could see it on her face. The darkened bedroom was lit only by a small lamp on the nightstand. I turned on the radio/CD player on the white lacquered bookshelf. Music enveloped us and I recognized Jewel. A popular love ballad Kathleen liked. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 13:15:57 EDT From: NikosSong@aol.com Subject: * Yay, I won! If anyone hasnt seen it yet, dont bother. Its really terrible - i almost fell asleep while my friend (another eda) did! Its hard to follow.. i tried but there isnt any point to! I think if you do rent it , just fast forward to the jewel parts which doesnt even start until 40minutes into the movie :-P She didnt have a very hard part in my opinion so I doubt it was that hard to pull off. I really hope she knows its best to stay in the music industry. Have a great one Megan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 17:17:12 -0400 From: Scott Evans Subject: * Re: RWTD = DONT WASTE YOUR TIME >I really hope she knows its best to stay in the music industry. Why? She did a fair job for a first time actress.. If you were a naturally creative person (she does it all.. art, movies, music, writing), then wouldn't you hate being locked onto one thing for five or six years?? If you're expecting as big a media splash if all she does is music, then you shouldn't.. It'll never get to 1997 fame level.. I'd like to see her try more challenging, emotional roles.. She seems too nice to pull it off.. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 18:10:26 EDT From: PiecesofKate34@aol.com Subject: * RWTD=Don't waste your time.. whoa hello angels, no offense to kelli*, but i think that is a bit of harsh review, saying that is was a terrible movie and had no point. those who view the civil war as important would probably follow along well and enjoy the movie. i think she did an excellent job in the part she was given. just my opinion added. any angels agree? thanks! katie *the theater angel* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 19:13:08 EDT From: JewelEDA21@aol.com Subject: * In Defense of Kelli :) (Re: RWTD bad) Hey there I kinda agree with kelli. I mean it wasnt the WORST movie.. like GUNSHY, heh, but It wasn't the best. in fact, all 4 times I saw (i was suckered all 4 times, heh) people left the theatre. I was let down, especially cos Tobey's really hot :) heh peace, Sebastien :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 19:14:54 EDT From: NikosSong@aol.com Subject: * Re: RWTD=Don't waste your time.. whoa Wow, this was crazy. Before I saw the movie, I read the actual book, Woe To Live On. Compared to the book, the movie was WONDERFUL! I thought that the written version was choppy and wasn't as descriptive as it could have been. The movie did an incredible job filling in those gaps. Maybe it was also because I read the book that I had no problem following along. My dad is a civil war buff, and he loved it as well. Hopefully if you haven't seen it yet, you will at least give it a try. Love to everyone, Jenni ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 19:41:26 EDT From: F8thnJEWEL@aol.com Subject: * Re: RWTD = DONT WASTE YOUR TIME well, i thought the movie was interesting. then again, i like US history. nevertheless, i think jewel did great for her first role. i followed along rather well, and so did the people who watched it with me. i was surprised that my uncle (who practically only watches action flicks) picked it out of my movie collection to watch. he said he enjoyed it and i was glad that he, a non jewel fan, thought the movie was good. it's just a matter of opinion on the quality of the film. some people find war movies interesting while others don't. i leave the critiquing job to the critics. besides, who actually listens to what critics say about movies? i don't. i like to form my own opinions about movies, songs, books, etc. sometimes they are the opposite opinions and sometimes not. anyway, that's my take on the film. please, everyone who's never seen RWTD, watch it on your own and form your own opinions. don't let anyone tell you what to think of the movie. ~elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 19:46:32 EDT From: "Carolyn Lake" Subject: * Re: RWTD = DONT WASTE YOUR TIME I didn't think the movie was all THAT bad! Yeah, it kinda dragged for a little while, but I'm not a war-movie person either. I thought Jewel was perfect for that rule, and now look at Tobey Maguire in a whole new light. Although I don't see how WSIT fit as the movie's theme... Considering Jewel was the lil player there going from guy to guy... I liked the movie. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was worth seeing. It helps if you don't think of it as a Jewel movie, because she is not the main focus of it. But it's definitely worth checking out. - -Kerri - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Monday, August 21, 2000 6:10 PM Subject: * RWTD=Don't waste your time.. whoa > hello angels, > no offense to kelli*, but i think that is a bit of harsh review, saying > that is was a terrible movie and had no point. those who view the civil war > as important would probably follow along well and enjoy the movie. i think > she did an excellent job in the part she was given. just my opinion added. > any angels agree? > thanks! > katie *the theater angel* ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 20:48:04 EDT From: Capricorngrl1187@aol.com Subject: * rwtd thread wow... congrats, everybody! i just wanted 2 comment on what a good job every1's doing on not arguing, especially on this controversial thread! when i first saw kelli's post, i was like, omg, this is askin for 2 weeks of fighting! but it's not! thanks sooooooooooo much, guyz! i knew there was a reason i belonged to this list! becca the beach angel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 21:19:14 -0400 (EDT) From: "Iris L. She fit into the time and the accent too. Her tooth helped also:-) I am going to watch the movie again cause I did miss a lot of it.Its not the best movie but its pretty cool.It was a little confusing in the begining but I suggest when you watch it you look at parts and not as the whole(the storyline) But yes I even agree that Kelli was harsh Iris ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 21:24:04 -0400 (EDT) From: "Iris L.
