I think this all depends on what Jewel wants to do. If she wants to be a great singer that's one thing. She certainly has the voice for it. If she wants to be a part time writer/actress/singer that's something completely different. Then people might lose interest. Hi guys, My last post seemed to stir up alot of negative reactions, sorry about that. All I was trying to do was start up a new project or something because those sort of things seem to bring the group closer together, (and because i need something to do), also I think Jewel appreciates it. And to the people who e-mailed me telling me not to lose interest, I have not and will not, like Barry (hi barry) I love her more every time I listen to her and I could never get sick of her. So sorry again and I hope this will create a more positive response. I'm sure most of you remember last winter, when so many of you raised almost $5,000 for HGH/Clearwater as a Christmas gift to Jewel. And we all know you made the difference when Jewel won the "Smooch For A Cure" $25,000 grand prize for Clearwater Project, several months ago. Many of you are wondering what the next steps would be and how things are going. Wonder no more, because I deliver this message directly to you from the Clearwater Team. Read on and then enjoy your weekend! MrBB *************************************************** It's been awhile since you've received an update on our progress with the Clearwater site funded by the participation of so many of you in the EDA community. Between the individual donations sent to us directly and your participation with Smooch for a Cure, we have had $30,000 set aside in a bank account specifically earmarked for a site that would be dedicated to the EDA's. In the beginning we were hoping to do a site in the U.S., but we have found that difficult to carry out. The number of approvals required in the U.S. for a site can take more than 2 years to get underway. And we have requests coming in from other parts of the world where clean water is so very critical to the health and well being of the people. Shane Kilcher, along with scientists and engineers working with Clearwater, have recently embarked on a trip that includes Honduras, Tanzania (in Africa), Kerala (in India), and Bangladesh. They have already completed their stay in Honduras and there is a wonderful opportunity to assist the people of Gualsea, Honduras. (Honduras is on the East side of Guatamala, which is just South of Mexico.) We have learned that key to the success of Clearwater sites is that the community requests this kind of assistance and is organized such that it will carry out the project on a long-term basis. The people of Gualsea initiated the request for assistance and have already formed a Water Committee which has obtained the necessary government approvals for this project. All that is needed now is funding! The funding for this project is planned to be implemented in two stages. The first stage will cost $30,000 and the second stage will cost approximately $35,000 and will be sent sometime next year. Depending on weather conditions, the timeline for the project is approximately 1 1/2 years and is more extensive than sites we were considering in the U.S. However, we plan to send the initial $30,000 next week so this project can get underway! Our plan is to dedicate this site to those of you who made a difference with raising the $30,000, as well as to all of you who have contributed in ways beyond measure to your family, friends and community. It is our experience that people in other countries are amazed that people who have never met them care about the quality of their lives and raise money for these kinds of projects. We plan to present the people of Gualsea with a plaque in both English and Spanish (Spanish is their native language) acknowledging that this project was made possible by the Every Day Angels and Higher Ground for Humanity. Once the rest of the team returns from their travels, we will be updating the entire Clearwater web site and devoting a page to this project so you can have access to more detailed information and pictures. You are an inspiration to us and we thank you! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2000 14:27:56 EDT From: JusAgapAd@aol.com Subject: * JEWEL - HANDS REMIX (TECHNO) TRADE so i have been reading about tired of jewel subjects and i am sick of it. so here's a thing for you. there is this dj in new jersey who plays this great techno remix of hands. i don't know if this is just a new jersey thing or what but it is GREAT!!!!!!!!!! its like 5 minutes and kind of resembles the techno remixes of tori amos's stuff. if anyone is interested in trading me the OXYGEN INTERVIEW then I have an extra copy for you. i know for a fact this cannot be found anywhere else....no napster...no radio....this is one of a kind and i will greatly appreciate the trade. e mail me of you're interested and if i get multiple requests i also am looking for the radio shack concert if at all possible. thanks sarah ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2000 09:44:11 -0700 (PDT) From: liz lee Subject: * i just don't care Hi guys!!!! Eep! I'm feeling like Richard Simmons! Let's dance everybody!! ... uh, ok. I just thought everyone needed a boost of cyber energy. Well, sure Juel's been in a dormant state and we have, too, but I don't care. Lately I've been reading a lot of magazines (you know, the girly ones like CosmoGirl, Seventeen) and every time there's a review of a folk-pop-like singer, it's reviewed as "it sounds like a softer/edgier/(fill in comparative adjective here) Juel." Oh, except for one of them, I think an artist named JILL SOBULE was reviewed as "Juel with a sense of humor" I'm like, hello, Juel's been around for five or so years (as an artist) and they still believe in those urban myths. If there's one angry child among female singer-songwriters, it wouldn't be Juel, it would be Alanis :) Have a terrific day!!! ===== ~*Liz*~ the Misplaced Angel HARMLESS & SHAMELESS PLUGS (if you can, check 'em out!) I've been on this list since 98' and I love everything about Jewel just the same. She "still" sings touching songs that mean something, unlike the garbage we hear today. She's original, again, unlike the songs we hear today. And above all she's inspirational, very much unlike the songs we hear today. You "so-called" Jewel fans shouldn't call yourselves fans because what it really "was" was an infatuation or lust for something or somebody new. Not Jewel, but a voice and a look. You might as well collect New Kids On The Block and claim their the next Beatles because the rational makes just about the same sense as that ideology. My advice to the lukewarm Jewel fans is to just try a little harder. Jewel has recorded so many beautiful, meaningful and inspirational songs that haven't been released but are obtainable if you try hard enough. I have a bunch of songs, but there not even half of what's out there. Yet every time I hear just one new song I listen to all the others again. Spark your interests. Her music and her constant perfection is there if you just try hard enough. Have you read her poetry book? Have you seen her movie? Have you listened to both of her officially released albums? Maybe you did but I guarantee you there is not one person on this list, even if Lenedra was on it, that can claim they have seen and heard it all. But even if they did there "definately" isn't anyone on this list that can claim that once is enough. Thank you for reading, and keep your faith. Jewel will be there, especially when she has true EDA's with her.
