Hi Angels, Listening to "Rare Angels" (thanks Jodi!) and "More Innerchange" (thanks Amy!) and hearing songs I'd never heard before has given me the same sort of feeling I got when I first discovered Jewel - an intense wonder at just how good she is and a profound happiness that she exists and can hear that voice and listen to those songs. "Damn the Daisies", which is in both collections I've mentioned, is an old one (1994) and is just brilliant - nearly as good as "Nicotine Love", with "Emily" probably her best ever. But it was her new songs, on "Rare Angels" - Weeping Tree, Break Me, So Close to Heaven, Violet Eyes - that really moved me so much. As good as just about anything she's done before. She seems to be writing fewer songs now, but all quality. And "Stephenville", a rare openly autobiographical song, is a great example of Jewel's sense of humour and taste for irony - like "Do You". And I'm here in Australia, like Louise, where we don't get to see Jewel very often at all. I got to see RWTD only a couple of weeks ago and that was a great experience. I went back and saw it a again a couple of days later - it was only on for about 10 days - and was far more impressed by the film itself the second time. It really is a very good film. And I thought Jewel did an excellent job. So, seeing Jewel in the movies and hearing some really great songs I'd not heard before, all about the same time, has just made me all the more enthusiastic about Jewel. She is such a beautiful young woman with such incredible talent! What new delights she has in store for us? Far from waning, my interest is as great as ever. Take care, Barry Howarth ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2000 03:36:17 -0700 From: "maria cristina silud sitoy" Subject: * jewel's GOD's gift to me peace!!! i'm gonna love jewel for the rest of my life although she haven't seen me or knew me at all.i always thank GOD for her because she has touched my life although i haven't seen her in person. i believe that someday i'm going to see her. All of us keep asking ourselves if we lost interest in Jewel, but Maybe Jewel is jut sick of the fame and songwriting and all this and wants to live an everyday life!? But even if Jewel did stop making her CDs, I woud love her as a writer! Cuz even if she isnt singing her words, they are still the most inspiring things ever written! Have you bought any of the import singles from like Sam Goody, Camelot, or MusicLand? There are two Hands singles, both with 2 different live tracks of other songs. That's for songs for you. Then there is the DSL single, which has 2 other live tracks. Now we are up to six. Then the Jupiter single has 2 more live sogs, now we are up to eight! And then you can buy the Spirit import, which has a CD with 2 more live tracks and multimedia. Now we got 10 songs. And then there is the Pieces of you Import with 4 more exclusive tracks. Now we got 14 songs you probably don't own versions of. So instead of saying you are tired of Jewel, go buy all that and of course ANWA and a few biographies...it will restore your love for her, I promise! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2000 17:38:29 -0400 (EDT) From: Ameryeth Subject: * You guys are why I'm here Hello all! I just wanted to comment that you guys are the reason I am here, on this list, day after day. I mean, Jewel is an amazing artist, my favorite hands down (no pun intended;-).) She has been an inspiration and brought me through some rough times, even my young children adore her. But whether she has a lot going on or very little(comparitively speaking), I always enjoy the conversations here. I love to visit your various sites, and I consider it an honor to call myself an EDA. I'm sure there will be more busy times ahead, but in the mean time, we can get to know each other a little better! Brightest blessings, Ameryeth Homeschool Angel P.S. Subject: * Shocked at People Are Saying They are Tired of Jewel I can't understand why people say they are starting to get tired of Jewel or something. Right now she isn't doing lots of television appearances, concerts, releasing CDs, etc. Unless you purposely force yourself on other Jewel material it is simple to say why you are tired of it you just aren't seeing or hearing it! There was A HUGE gap between POY and Spirit.......are we going to get tired over the small gap we are in now? I hope not. I simply listen to some other Jewel work everyday along with some Poltz. I love every second of it and if there is only one thing that I have hated about becoming a huge Jewel fan it is that I can never seem to find any other good music anymore. I can only stand and love Jewel/Poltz! So don't get dissapointed.....put on some Jewel or just sit back and know you are going to love her book and future releases!
