Hi everyone, Just writing to say that I think it's sad that some of us EDAs are losing interest in Jewel. I was looking at some J sites yesterday and a couple had messages saying that they wont be updating their site anymore because they've lost interest, and i've also noticed some EDAs have left the list. I just thought that was pretty sad and was wondering if there was anything we could do to maybe shake it up a bit, perhaps a new project or something? Any suggestions??? THIS Friday night, Aug. 18, there will be an awesome living room concert taking place in Fort Worth, TX (near Grapevine actually) at Courtney's house. Luna Taylor will be performing...she's a long time list member (on the Jewel list) and many have heard her perform before...and she's really good! We're expecting quite a crowd, so come join us for alot of fun! If you live anywhere close to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, then it'll be well worth the trip! The doors open at 6:00, and the show will start about 7:00. She will be doing an autograph signing after the show, and this show will also be the beginning of her US tour! So catch her early in her career, before she becomes really famous! :-) Ok, so I'm joking about the autograph thing, but I'm sure she'd be happy to sign something if you'd like her to. :-) It should be a really good show. If you're interested in coming, please send an e-mail either to Luna at thessalia@juno.com, or to Courtney at rockergrl8@aol.com for more info, like directions on how to get there. We hope to see you there!!! Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 19:30:04 EDT From: "Devin Starr" Subject: * Re: Losing interest in Jewel? There is really nothing we can do until Jewel goes 90% media active.. with the new book, and possiblities of a new album or movie, we can do something soon.. but until then.. sleep well my friend. I don't really think it's something the EDA's can do.. Jewel's changed, and they just didn't like the way things were changing in her music and her in general probably.. It's probably also a case of oversaturation in their lives, because I was obsessive for a long time and I got burnt out on her after that plain and simple.. I was just sick of her.. So it took me a while to get back into her, and now she's what I should see her as.. A good role model with pretty good songs and much talent.. Not my goddess, someone to obsess over.. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2000 14:14:08 EDT From: "Kelli Coppens" Subject: * Steves show at The Bottom Line Hey guys! Just wanted to say that I thoroughly (wow i think i spelled that right!) enjoyed the show friday night in NYC. It was Steve poltz along with other artists. He talked about Jewel quite a few times and told us some new stories of when he was "in love with her" :-) It was cute to hear them!! He is such a personable (ooh another tough spell-job) guy. I think what made the show so nice was the fact that Steve seemed to really be having a good time - although i think he always does! But all the artists including him were just sitting there on stage laughing and trading funny stories with each other. It felt very intimate which is so nice to be a part of. Steve sang "You were meant for me" in his "male" version LOL! A lot of us heard that one during jewels tour last summer! And we all knew Steve hasnt changed much when the very first words out of his mouth when he got on stage was "Hey can I get a beer up here?" then he turns to the woman next to him "Would you like one too?" Thats Poltz for ya!! On another note: I was impressed by this caberet club called "The Bottom Line" in NYC. I actually left my cell phone there accidently and didnt realize it till the next day. I figured it was useless to call but I thought I'd try anyway to see if someone honest (in NYC - HA yeah right!!!!) actually found it and turned it in!! See.. I just got pickpocketed a week earlier in NY at a nightclub :-P But the manager of the bottom line was VERY NICE!! He found it and tried to get in touch with me by calling a number in my phone! So I got it back:-) NYC aint too bad after all! Kelli The City angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #261 ***************************
