They spent a good 8 figures on it if I'm not mistaken.. And they made less than 1 million.. Plus the home video release was practically nonexistant, with only two of three copies of it at my local Blockbuster.. Let me know what you think.. Jewel may not normally take notice in the political process, but it does seem like Gore is concerned with many of the issues that Jewel cares about. Calling her a "political puppet" is basically saying she doesn't have a mind of her own. Celebrities have supported both parties and performed. Lee Greenwood does that "Proud to be an American" song every Republican convention, and the Democrats have had more feature entertainment at events than you could name. I've been to Democratic events with lots of different types of celebrities, and no one ever accused them of being puppets. Jewel may have said she doesn't care about the process, but she is also getting to the age where people start to care. She is free to support whom ever she wants, and we should applaud her for being involved this time(ok, so she chose the right guy, but even if she didn't). Hopefully everyone on the list who is old enough will vote (for Gore....hint, hint) regardless of their candidate, and hopefully Jewel's involvement will encourage those on the list who respect and admire her and who weren't planning on voting to get out and vote. I remember reading something about Chelsea being a fan and talking her dad into inviting Jewel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... So if Gore is elected, will we get to see some more of Jewel next year??? :-) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 08:43:01 EDT From: Turook@aol.com Subject: * Victoria's Secret New CD with Jewel on it? The other day I was shopping in Victoria's Secret and "Under the Water" was playing. (I honestly never really cared for this song.) I asked if it was a worker personal tape playing (maybe I was about to make contact with an EDA!) or what. They said it is going to be on the new Victoria's Secret compilation. Does anybody know about this? I am not sure if it is true. I went into a different Victoria's Secret and they knew nothing of this new Cd thing. BeBe, can you help? Oh, another thing. I will moving next Tuesday, and not taking my computer. I just wanted to say a goodbye to all you awsome EDA'a. All the ones that have sent me tapes and tapes of angelfood. Some of you really are angels. And to others, I hope some people on this list learn to be more respectful of other people's opinions. Wars have broken out on this list. I hope it never happens. We all need to try to build eachother up. These are hard times people are going through, many people are dealing with horroble sicknesses, deaths, and other terrible things. I know how much the EDA's encouraged me when I was going though cancer treatments (I am now in remission). If everyone was like that on this list, you all could make a big difference in the world. EDAs- *Did anyone else notice in Jewel's ACL and RS performances some lyrics were changed in Life Uncommon. Now she says "songs of freedom" instead of "sounds of freedom"...which would still make sense but why??? She changes things all the time...Down So Long was the only single that she didnt touch...lets see...She clipped lyrics from WWSYS, Foolish Games, added/changed lyrics to Hands/WWSYS/just about every song performed live, remixed Jupiter/WSIT/Morning Song...etc...aight so maybe her music ISNT radio ready... Jewel's claim to fame is being an awesome live performance artist...if that's true, why do i always find myself praying she won't screw up everytime she makes a television appearance? After all, her broadcasted shows reveal a high "screw-up rate"...from minor misses like her WWSYS performance on SNL 25 to her humiliating WWSYS dedication to Bob Dylan on VH1 Storytellers...and it's not her tone nor pitch i'm talking about...it's how she forgets the lyrics and misses her cues(i.e. "SIBTW on ACL, DSL at RS, LMJLMA at Woodstock 99, the list goes on and on...) Ah well i guess her stand up routine between songs compensates for all the TV misses. It's as if Jewel is bored with her music...her most recent performances have been less than exciting, and i wish i knew why. - -Kris "A dry tongue screams at the sky / but the wind just breathes words in as a strange bird tries to fly" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 08:34:33 -0700 (PDT) From: Kris Kelley Subject: * NJC: New England EDA's Hello EDA's. I'm up here in New Hampshire (insert cow joke here) :~) and I've been talking to some EDA's up here..you know who you all are....and so the thought of a gathering was of course brought up. I personally havne't met a lot of EDA's. I've been on the list for a few years now, but I didn't have a car and the rent's weren't cool with my heading to Bearsville....but I am an adult now...agewise....but a child in spirit... and so, let me just stop babbling and get to the point. Do you live in NEw England? Do you want to get together and hang out with some EDA's? If you answered yes then send me an e-mail so I can get a list and send some sugestions of what you think'd be cool to do. Ok? If it's the performance from Jools Holland's 5th Annual Hootenanny then Jewel is singing with the British singers Sam Brown and Gabrielle. They were accompanied by B B King and Dave "Pink Floyd" Gilmour on guitar, and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. Chris. In the new US magazine issue288 Aug.21,2000 with Survivors on the cover turn to page 81 for a special beauty section on Star Smiles. There is an interview with a dentist and Before and After pictures of Jewel, David Letterman, and Kate Moss. This is what it says under the pictures of Jewel and let me just add my opinion that Jewel does not need her teeth fixed and it looks kinda weird. So anyways... Lowenberg would create a softer and more sophisticated look for Jewel by correcting her crooked teeth, whitening them and making her smile symmetrical. Yeah, ok, whatever.
