BTW, i saw that some people had camcorders, were any of you one of the people? if so, i would like to trade ... my collection is pretty good so maybe you could find something you liked. She told us to say hi to Ty for her at the beginning. anyway, it started off with NEAR YOU ALWAYS (which she messed up on!) and then DEEP WATER, WHAT'S SIMPLE IS TRUE, HANDS (did "If i could tell the world just one thing, it would be, that's i'm happy to be in orange county..." ), YOU WERE MEANT FOR ME (jewel imitatates steve from the video and later steve and jewel sing the chorus together.. i wish i had brought a camera or camcorder!), LIFE UNCOMMON (jewel asks steve to give him a "G" but he gives her an "H" instead, he corrects it and she sings...) and FOOLISH GAMES. Then she got into the acoustic part and said she was gonna sing some new songs, which were STEPHENVI LLE(she forgot the words and had to think about it!, SOME NEW SONG (she says it brand new, but you know how she always says that. but truthfully, i've never heard it. the chorus was: Do you remember when we were younger [and better words were said?] Making up was your favorite part Well, I ain't young no more And I'm sorry I can not mend a broken heart). Then the band came out and she did the electric guitar/rock stuff. DOWN SO LONG , DOWN (i think she messed up a bit in this too...), YOU'RE IN CLEVELAND TODAY, EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEONE SOMETIME, LMJLMA (her and steve did some cute dancing stuff. again, i wish i had brought a camcorder! ), WWSYS(she did the kitty cat bit and the scatting thing with Doug). She came back out for an encore. She sang DON'T (and didn't remember the words and like Alex said, she borrowed the POY cover from somebody..she still skipped a whole verse) and CHIME BELLS (i loved the way she sang this ... another reason why i love jewel. she changes the way she sings the songs a lot) The crowd was nice ... there wasn't any wierd stuff going on. i was closer than when i watched her at Irvine Meadows last year except for the end when i was about 10 yards from her. anyhoo, i was still in a good place. BTW, i was able to record a cassette tape of the concert. it's pretty good quality. you can hear me talking a bit in between songs, but it doesn't get in the way. i'd say it was a 7 or 8 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best and i'm willing to trade or make copies. so, yea, this was kinda long and thanks for reading it if you got this far ... love ya lots! ~Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 15:00:19 EDT From: EPhili2568@aol.com Subject: * Question about Fridays concert! Hi Angels! I didn't catch the news about Jewel's Friday Night Concert, where was it? I only know that it was in California (am I right?). And for what reason? She isn't touring again constantly to promote Spirit, but she IS doing some appearances in TV and now this concert... HOW COOL! How many people where there? Was it a small concert? A benefit concert? Did it look like the Spirit Tour Concert? Well, can anyone answer me those questions please? And also, did anyone who attended the concert taped it? Is it listenable? Because, after reading the reviews, it sounds as such a great concert... that would give a chance to the Overseas EDAs (like me) to listen it! :) I'm also very glad she is touring acoustically and singing more old songs like 'You're In Cleveland Today'! Michiel, I also read about the live recordings record that was being planned for release. Does anyone has more news about that? Thank you, Mirko ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 06 Aug 2000 15:55:32 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: * "The Jewel Show" on MadTV on 8/12 Hi peeps :-) I have no idea at all if this sketch is about Ms. Kilcher or not, but on Saturday August 12th on the Fox network, MadTV will be having a sketch called "The Jewel Show". (check your local listings for the time this airs in your area.....it's 11pm in the eastern time zone) I am not sure if this is a repeat or not (perhaps someone has already seen "The Jewel Show"). I checked out the MadTV web site's ( http://www.madtvonfox.com/ ) episode guide and it does not list any episode with any of the sketches I read are on this particular episode, which makes me think it's new. It's like "Homeless With Jewel" Or something of that sort. Quite annoying, bad impression, makes fun of her poetry. Still, watch it. :) Hehe. It is a rerun it's been on once before a couple months back. I'm sorry.. I forgot to post it for ya'll!!
