Most people on here probably don't even remember me. I first joined this list when I first started High School. Well, I've now graduated and I'm about to leave for college. I thought now might be the time for me to finally leave the list, at least for a while. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts and ramblings about my time with the eda's. There have been so many changes since I started but I've really enjoyed being about of this group. I remember setting up an eda gathering for a Steve Poltz concert here in Omaha. I had so much fun. I still have all the pictures and I still enjoy looking at them. I've talked to so many interesting and caring people on this list. I loved hearing about the annual Thanksgiving gatherings in San Diego. Wished I could have made it to one. I've always been amazed at what a tight knit group this has been and I have to thank Mike Connell and Alan for making this a great group. They have worked and continue to work hard to make this a great list. The list has grown tremendously since I first started. I love to hear about all the great projects that the list members have been able to put together. This list has been very important to me through High School. I'm leaving for college soon and I'm hoping to study business and my dream is to get a job in the record industry. I am hoping to get an internship one of these summers with a record label and see if that is truly what I want to do. My ideas about music have changed so much since joining this list. This list inspired me to learn guitar which I enjoy playing. I'm now a huge fan of the Blues. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, BB King..... the list goes on :) Well, enough of my ramblings, if you've read this far I congratulate you on not falling asleep :) I'm leaving for vacation to New York tomarrow and when I get back in 2 weeks I'm going to unsubscribe. Thanks to all those EDA's I've talked to, met, and have made this such a great list. Maybe when I get to college I'll check back in but just in case I'd like to say goodbye and thanks to all you EDA's and I hope you have enjoyed this list as much as I have. I like Jewel because she is very talented. She is beautiful too and knows what she is talking about. I don't mind if there are similarities between her lyrics and one poet that she likes. I remember a teacher quoting, the best written work is only made from 26 letters or something along those lines. Anyway i think jewel is cool, and everyone on this list is cool. Nicadopolis. Just wanted to send a friendly reminder that today (FINALLY!) is the day that many of us Jewel fans get to see Ride With The Devil for the first time! It comes to video stores today! Wish you all good luck in finding it! Jeni ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 21:59:13 +1200 From: "Stace" Subject: * a question.. Hey Angels, This is a post i came across on a Jewel-related site. It's kinda strange, but it intrigues me! Here's the post: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Has anyone noticed that Jewel ALWAYS seems to be barefoot? She's also had close-up portaits taken of them and mentioned her toes in her poetry...does she have a fixation or does she just like her feet? I asked this question in another club and no-one really responded. It just seems like she's featuring her feet prominently in her image presentation. I even found the link dedicated to her feet which I posted in the links section when I was surfing for Jewel stuff... ~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Here's the link to the site that's mentioned : http://www.fortunecity.com/athena/pregnancy/350/ I never knew Jewel was into feet! Is she? I mean, i know she likes noses *grin*.. Anyone have an opinion on this? I've simply excerpted this from her newsletter. Rugburns fans may also want to catch this gig since it may be your last chance to wish Rugburn's bassist John Castro well on his move to NYC. Wish I could join ya! Please realize this is a TEMPORARY change. The list is NOT closing down nor moving to "news only" permanently. We WILL be back to normal on Monday August 28th at the latest, perhaps a few days earlier. Most of you will recall we also did this in the recent April/May time-frame. There are many reasons for this but the main one is simply to give everyone, including me, a small break in order to enjoy the rest of the summer even more :-) It is the perfect time to do this. There is not much going on at all with Jewel....well actually, just the one concert in California in early August. So, you might ask what does "news only" mean? Basically it means that for those five weeks, the only posts that should be sent in (and the only ones that will be approved/sent on to the list) are ones that either contain some sort of news about Jewel, news about/from the EDAF (EveryDay Angels Foundation) or news about upcoming EDA/list member gatherings. Also, considering two "major" events this week (the release of Ride With The Devil to video stores, and this weekends' annual EDA/member campout/gathering in the mountains of New York State), posts reviewing the video and posts reviewing Bearsville2000 will also be most welcome and put through. So, if you know of an upcoming new or repeat appearance of Jewel on TV, or a newspaper article/blurb, magazine article/mention/picture, radio broadcast etc....send it on in :-) If you attend the Jewel concert in California on August 4th and want to review it and let us know what happened, send it on in :-) If you want to review Ride With The Devil send it on in :-) If you want to post a review of what went on at the Bearsville 2000 gathering, send it on in. :-) If you are planning an EDA get-together/gathering in August or September.....send on any posts coordinating the effort. Again, starting Monday August 28th, the list will return back to normal (whatever the heck that is ;-) Also, depending on how this goes those five weeks, I MIGHT do this again in October or November (a "news only" month), but ONLY if it still appears that not much will be going on with Jewel (i.e. no tours/concerts, no round of TV/radio appearances to promote the upcoming book etc). Any questions or comments, approvals or complaints, please feel free to write back :-) Your list manager, Mike :-) * If you are new to the Jewel list and need a helping hand, * or have a burning question about Jewel and/or the list, * The Jewel/EveryDay Angels List Homepage & Guide is at: * http://www.quackquack.net/jewel * Many basic/common Jewel and list questions can be answered there :-) * * Need some Angelfood? I haven't been too active on the list, but I was just thinking of how before I joined the EDA's the only Jewel songs I knew were from Pieces of You, and now I know so many more and appreciate her even more as an artist. I have about 50 of her songs on cd now, which I would have never even heard of if it hadn't been for the wonderful EDAs who sent me angelfood. So I just wanted to make some cd's for others on the list. Whoever wants one would just have to pay postage and 50 cents for the blank cd. Most of the songs have much better sound quality than the tapes with the exception of a few. I can probably do only about the first 10 or so that respond, because any more than that would just be too time consuming, but I'll try to do as many as I can. So whoever wants a cd or two, just email me and I'll send you a list of the songs I have, and you can pick which ones you want. Thanks, Katie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 19:46:40 EDT From: EDAngel1014@aol.com Subject: * AngelFood Hey i was wondering if any angel would be kind enough to make me some CD Angelfood. I have a few blank CD's that my step father has bought. and said i could use if i wanted. But I don't have any Angelfood(Except for one tape that I made with downloaded songs from the internet.) If anyone is willing to make me some I will send the blank CD's to them. I don't know if this was already posted about, because this was a repeat episode of Family Guy, but I was watching it last night. For those of you who don't know, Family Guy is a cartoon show about a disfunctional family. It's very unreleastic, and the humour is kind of tasteless at times, but none the less I think it's pretty funny at times =) Anyways, I'm glad because I managed to catch this on tape. They were actually making fun of Jewel AND Ricky Martin, and I thought it was kind of funny rather than offensive. Anyways, what happened was, it was a Ricky Martin concert, and he came off stage, you could here the crowd yelling his name, (remember this is a cartoon) and then he put on a blond wig and lipstick and some guy sticks his head in through a door and says, "10 minutes to curtain Jewel". Sooo...they were saying Jewel is Ricky Martin in drag =) It was actually more humorous than my explanation, but anyways, I just thought I'd mention it! Have a wonderful evening! ~<3~ Sandy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #231 ***************************
