Hey see as there already is an online EDA Yearbook, maybe we could make a new one, or update the exsisting one seeing as there are many new EDAs and Jewel's music has been changing a little bit ... we might get different perspectives ... I don't know ... I'm just trying to think of something fun for all the EDAs to share. In this month's issue of Glamour.. Jewel is mentioned on page 146. It's called Generation next: Wow Women. "If pop star Jewel was the next Joni Mitchell, then who's the next Jewel?" They say Shelby Lynne, former Nashville Country Star delivers "deeply confessional, Jewel-like lyrics about turbulent love affairs on her recent crossover album, I am Shelby Lynne." It includes a small picture too. And which one came first? Those questions just make me wonder.... 'Jessica' was the original song that was rewritten for the movie The Crossing Guard, the girl's name in the movie was Emily, hence, 'Emily'. She was asked to contribute the song by the director, one Sean Penn. Like many of the older folks hereabouts, I like 'Jessica' better :-) James. I agree with you there, I don't see any need for hate mail or distasteful comments, *but* I still do believe it is *impossible* to avoid that with this many people on the list. We can try and try and try, and tell people that they shouldn't take comments personally, but people are still going to, it's human nature. >As a matter of fact it isn't a way, because I am sure we can all stop > arguing and write pleasant things. Defending your honor or Jewel's honor does > not mean we have to fight. My advice: if you want to say something that will > fuel the fire, say it to your cat. None of us have time to be fighting I'm > sure and to minimize the fighting say what you have to say in a reasonable > manner. > As I said, I'm sure we can *minimize* fighting, but there is no way to truly get rid of it. Even if no one exchanges harsh words for weeks, eventually someone, perhaps someone new to the list, or even just unintentionally, will say something that causes people to take offense, and respond in a rude manner. I think we can definately HELP this by trying to say things reasonably, but I don't think we could truly stop fighting. Perhaps, we should try to do this: if you really disagree with someone, you should email them directly, and not carry it out on the list. At least that way, even if disagreements are going on, they aren't happening on the list. I think you are definately right, there is no need for fighting, but it's kinda hard to avoid with so many different people on the list with different opinions, and many of them have a "knack" for fighting ;) ~<3~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 14:03:58 EDT From: IanDJones@aol.com Subject: * Re: EDA Yearbook Hi guys! The reason I'm so attached to this group of people is because I've met so many great people from this list. The first people I formed friendships with were Jesse and Troy. Jesse as you may remember, has left us, quite a while ago, and I have no idea where Troy is. I don't talk to either of them anymore, we've lost touch, but I'm thinking of writing him to see if he remembers me. After that, came Chris, Seth and Naomi. Chris is my best friend now. I joined the list because I was a fan of Jewel (yes, I still am.) And I think someone on the list made a very good point about why is it that just because we joined this list, why does that mean we have to live the title of EveryDay Angel? Being a fan of Jewel is not signing a contract saying "I will donate, I will feed hungry, I will help others". It's saying "I like Jewel's music."
