Not much to say lately. I spend most of my online time talking to friends, 95% of which i met here on this list. I would love to see Jewel record and release all of her stuff eventually. I doubt she would, but it's a nice thought. It would be nice to have several albums/CDs/cassettes that have different songs on them. I've tried to find as many tapes as possible without getting a several copies of the same song. It doesnt happen. Until recently I didnt even know Jewelstock was recorded. Pretty sad considering I've been on the list nearly 3 years. I believe it would take 10-30 albums to have recorded all of Jewel's materials, but if you tried to get all her material with traded Angelfood you would end up with like 40 copies of YWMFM. Sound quality is another thing. I traded with and EDA and got some Angelfood on CD it sounds so much better than tapes. If they were professionally recorded the sound quality would be awesome. Somebody else mentioned Jewel making more money? She deserves every penny she earns and 40% of her earnings goes to charity. Is that really a problem Thats my input thanks for the rant! =) centralfloridaangel ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 00:28:38 EDT From: jewelchute@aol.com Subject: * easy tabs A lot of songs from POY are pretty simple, a lot of G C D chords. but THe first ones I learned were "sometimes it be that way", which is sooo fun to play! and hands, and morning song. I learned boy needs a bike which helped me improve a lot and use some different chords so thats a good one too. the tricky thing about jewel, which is why I dont know a lot of songs, is the timing of things and her different picking and strumming patterns. Oh i just thought of more...."dont" isnt bad and also "whats simple is true" is pretty easy. You need a capo for most of those songs, so if you dont have one get one! and the best advice I got while learning to play, "You'll never be as bad as you are right now" so don't give up!!! :) - -lindsey the angel who sucks but can't get any worse (hehehee) ;) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 03:28:53 -0700 From: "Sandy" Subject: * Jewel's Unreleased Material I said early in a post that it's really easy for any Jewel fan to be able to access her unreleased material. I got a nice "flaming" email about this. In a way I was wrong, I'm sure there are lots of Jewel fans who don't have the internet and or a computer or are not an EDA etc. but the way I think of it is this: One of the reason I like her unreleased stuff soooo much is because IT IS unreleased. If she recorded these, and released them, you'd hear them on the radio all the time, over and over and over again. You'd see the videos on MTV and Muchmusic and whatever other music station, you'd see her perform them on talk shows and awards shows and whatever, and it would grow old. Look, I *LOVED* POY, *but* who didn't get tired of hearing Who Will Save Your Soul, or YWMFM or Foolish Games over and over. I mean they are BEAUTIFUL songs, and of course, I'll never get tired of hearing her sing them at a concert, or whatever, but it kinda takes the special feeling you get listening to the unreleased songs, knowing that they are kind of "sacred". Saved only for special times. If people are her fans, they may not have the internet, but if they go to her concert, they as well would get to hear them, and I mean seriously, come on people, how many people aren't capable of *ever* going on the internet? Who doesn't at least have a relative/friend/co-worker who has a computer, or one at school, work, public libraries? They have the "source" to find the rare stuff, if they want to go look for it, if it *really* interests them. Or they could tape the concert themselves? or get a copy of the Radioshack concert at their local shack? Watch certain TV specials like ACL where she sings her rare stuff. It is available. The only one thing I can say is that it would be nice to have better quality, but if the best that you can do for that right now is you can try and find a source who has an orignal copy. I have found a lot of really good quality mp3's of her unreleased stuff, and it wasn't hard at all. Anyways, I'll stop writing this novel now, just my opinion (no more flame mail please) ~<3~ Sandy Lost in Heaven ~ http://fly.to/~heaven Chasing a Rainbow...A Jewel Kilcher Site ~ http://www.geocities.com/angelofluv.geo/index2.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 18:13:10 +0200 From: "Emilie" Subject: * Jewel in Wizard Of Oz pic sought Hi angels does anyone know wher I can find a picture of Jewel in the Wizard of Oz ??? call me lazy but I have no time to search through the hundreds of Jewel websites :-)) Take Care Emilie http://www.multimania.com/stevepoltz ICQ #44198706 AOL IM : Emilie EDA ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 14:35:47 EDT From: Jamieangel1@aol.com Subject: * Steve's CDs In a message dated 7/6/00 6:17:31 PM Central Daylight Time, owner-jewel-digest@smoe.org writes: << >And if it is readily >avilable off-line in regular music stores. >> Actually, I have this obsessive-compulsive thing every time I walk into a store. I have to look at Jewel and Steve CDs....just to see which one's they might have. Steve's CDs are always there, and I live in New Orleans. I think you can find it at pretty muich any big record store (i.e. Virgin, Camelot, Sam Goody, Wherehouse, etc.). =) Jamie ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jul 2000 12:57:18 EDT From: Mp0280@aol.com Subject: * I have the RadioShack Tape (1st 10 people get it) I can make 10 copies of the tape....... The only way that I can do it is if you send me the tape and shipping for it... I'm a little short on cash.... The tape isn't the same as the DVD's Jewel talks on the tape ... like she tells a few stories ... but it's missing the two new songs ... but it's a really great tape anyway...... Before I was an angel I went to look for POY lyrics (because I own the tape, and the tape doesn't have lyrics) and I think I went to Cafe Juel and I saw all the song titles and I didn't know what they were. I'm like "WAY COOL! JUEL HAS OTHER CDS?" And then I asked myself if she did, and I kept looking at the song titles and thinking, "WAIT A SECOND, ISN'T PIECES OF YOU HER DEBUT ALBUM?" That was a long time ago when I hadn't realized there was angelfood. But now I go online and when I go to Juel sites I often see links to people's angelfood, and I never search for "angelfood" on Yahoo anymore (I use yahoo) because it's too broad and it usually gives me links to angelfood cake recipes. But I still don't think it IS a problem or "silly" of us to make it so overt. Usually I just see people's lists of angelfood and are pretty general on what it is, and so on, except for the standard, "this is not for sale, please keep it that way." Uh... I'm just rambling on, ain't I? I guess I'm trying to say, yes, we don't deny the existence of angelfood or keep it like some clandestine network, but we're not THAT open about it either. Only now I know these lyrics were from songs available in angelfood. Before I didn't realize that. ===== ~*Liz*~ the Misplaced Angel HARMLESS & SHAMELESS PLUGS (if you can, check 'em out!) (Well, of course Jewel is worth the money but when you're unemployed you have to watch what you spend on luxuries! I'm only 18 and free from regular living expenses, but still!) Also, is it only available at the jeweljk website store, or in regular stores? I've been looking all over in music stores in my town, but no one has it. Yet it is inevitable that some songs now dubbed angelfood will become commercialized, find solace in the donation of the entirety of singles and the 40%(or 60%) otherwise to the many wondrous charitys.
