First off let me State that i am a Coke man, i dont really care for Pepsi..... but i was at my Dad's for Fathers day, and for some reason he has Pepsi (maybe he's not my real father....anyways..) And they are having this contest where you send in 50 points for a 5 song CD, or a 100 points for a 10 song CD.... WELL the cool thing about this, is that for the Example they use JEWEL!!!! she is only listed with one song, when other Artis have two or three, but its so Awesome that SHE is the Example, with the song "Down so Long" I wonder if the guy that did this is a Jewel fan, or if its just dumb luck, either way its Neat to see her Name in print... So go collect some of these Order forms. =) Peace out! It would just be so much easier to trade them that way is the thing. Also, if you have them on cassettes, you can encode them and the qualitly won't continue degrading the more you listen to them like tapes. You can encode songs from tapes as well if you're curious. I've even encoded songs from records before and cleaned out the extra hissing and some clicks. For instance: >1. In the poem POVERTY there is a line: "if poverty drives away >your golden shoes, >but not let it drive away your laughter which is my life's bread." >.. remind you of Hands? >2.In "The Dead Woman" there is line : >"Because where a man has no voice, >there, my voice." I don't think that Jewel "steals". Maybe that was just a bad choice for a word. Every writer borrows ideas or is influenced by other writers. As Lesley Choyce (a writer) says: "Every writer begs and borrows from other writers. You can't write otherwise, you learn tricks from other people." I think Choyce has hit it right on the nose with that comment. He's absolutely right. I think everyone can read a line of a poem and be inspired or influenced by it. That's what makes the writer so special, like Neruda is to Jewel. She can probably read a line and paint a picture or an image in her head of what he's explaining.. like the whole Blue Guitar thing (Louisa and her Blue Guitar). (Does anyone know what poem that's from? I've tried so hard to find it!) If you can get your own ideas from someone else's writing, so be it. Where do our ideas come from, otherwise? I may only hope so, as I am new, as well, to this mailing list. Up until this point in time, I have attained several titles on both CD and analog cassette.
