The post I set forth was not an argument, it was a invitation to consideration. I am well aware of the facts of Canada, having been to Vancouver numerous times and lived in Bellingham Washington for half a year while I waited for her New Years concert, as well as passing through and speaking with numerous people in my travels along the coastline as well as extended residences in Montana, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Nonetheless, the 80% figure is a elementary school figure which I am certain at least 80% of the people on this list know. that 80 percent is situated mostly in Vancouver, which (gasp) is directly on the coastal highway to Alaska! :Roughly 80% of Canada lives within 100 miles of the US border. The "coastal highway" you mention is a figment of your imagination. From Vancouver, BC, on the west coast, to St. John's, NF, on the east coast is about 5 300 km (2 400 mi).: Here is a simple sociological concept I would like you to mull over. The greater population density over a large land mass, the more potential for Diversity in individual microsmic existance, in laymans terms, the more groups of people, the more diversified the perceptions. In being so diversified, the perceptions would be expansive to the level of ecosystem and society, which is made of government, educational and moral standards, which in turn is based in spiritual standpoint of such said groups, and other enviromental stimuli. It is interesting how you can proclaim yourself the spokesman for half of Canada, Do you shout to all you hear of other peoples ignorance? I would think your obnoxious and arrogant attitude would be the offensive presence. I would certainly hope you do not represent your fellow countrymen, for all the Canadians I have met have been kind and open, quite the seeming departure from your attitude. Perhaps you were not aware of it, but Jewel is a millionare, though she was not primarily in the business for the money in any case. It was a blessing for her to be able to help millions with but a few years of the "cheerleader act" as she has said, but her greatest joy in it all is the support and love of the fans whom she has touched so profoundly. Still, You are pinning the blame of a group decision as is necessary with festivals as lilith Fair on her. Jewel wasnt in but a few shows in Lilith in any case, as she was as we all know, touring for the most of it, or resting after the arduous trips. I followed Jewel for the last half of the North America tour, and she was strained in finishing it as was, pinning five or six more shows to it and compounding the illness which have fallen on her as a result of her frail constitution would have been too demanding. I have sympathy if you were not able to see her, yet you have to consider her health and other prioritys, the tour she played was long enough as was. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #166 ***************************
