Ok, so here is something really really weird!! My girlfriend and I went out last night and for some reason I got the inkling to buy Playboy!!!! Don't ask me why but anyways---I opened up the mag and there on the third page was none other than Jewel herself!!!! She wasn't naked or anything, it was because she did a benefit concert and Playboy was the host!!! It is a really good pic though..just thought I would share that with all of you!! I know there are lots of fans who haven't even > seen her once. Exactly! I have been a Jewel fan for 4 years myself and never seen her once! The sad and pathetic part is I had two chances that fell through! I went to Woodstock 99 , pretty much only because I wanted to see Jewel.. I drove to New York from about an hour away from Toronto, Canada, arrived the day before Woodstock started, and stayed for the first two days, only on the second day there, I lost my sunscreen and they were sold out, so I thought "oh well, I guess I'll get a nice tan". I was wrong I ended up with the worst burn ever and ended up having to go to the emergency room because of it. (My skin peeled off three layers right after each other!) After that day I couldn't possibly stand to be in the sun on the last day so I had to go home that night, and miss out on seeing Jewel. The second time was last summer when she played in Toronto in August, only, (with all my luck!) my mom was scheduled to have surgury that day (she has breast cancer), and I felt that it was important to be there for her. So anyone who has even had the opportunity to see her should feel lucky, and should not complain about "why isin't she touring here" and so forth. > Please, let's use this list to share our thoughts and memories, and not as a > forum for complaining about all that Jewel doesn't do. She's one woman, she > can't be everywhere and please everyone. But I would like to say, that you can't expect to share your thoughts in a discussion forum if you can't share your "bad" thoughts as well. That's what it's for, to discuss Jewel and I think if anyone has anything to say that may be complaining, than let them get it off their chests, it also gives others a chance to discuss their complaints with them, and maybe help them out or change their opinion. Everyone needs to complain at some time! ~<3~ Sandy ~ Visit: Chasing a Rainbow...A (Brand New!) Last month I was on the west coast enjoying Joy Eden Harrison playing with other San Diego EDA music favorites for the EveryDay Angels Foundation at Java Joe's, and again at a house concert at the Vierling's hacienda. Now, it's less than two weeks before Joy makes her east coast tour and returns to play another Living Room Concert in my backyard in Massachusetts! EVERYONE on this list is invited to come over to my house the evening of June 9th, hang out, eat some good food and experience one of the absolute coolest things to ever come from THIS list -- a Living Room Tour, up close and personal. The standard Living Room Tour rules apply: good music, good food, good fun and a suggested $10 donation to help cover the artist's travel expenses. I've gotten a few RSVP's already, including some EDAs outside Massachusetts -- Amy Neufeld, Alan Bershaw (Mr.BB), Tom Proven and Mike Connell (the Jewel list moderator). I expect quite a few other EDAs will confirm this week. And, despite a year of seclusion, "where are they now" celebrity Woody the Plywood Cow will undoubtedly come out of the closet to make an appearance and dodge a few ropes... ;-) I do ask that folks RSVP as soon as possible to plan ahead for enough food and floor space for out-of-towners. If you are in the New England area you should definitely NOT miss this event! I believe the concert will begin broadcasting >at 7PM regardless of your time zone. (Call your local RS to >be sure.) So, Radio Shack really wants fans to show up in front of their DSS display and watch Jewel perform for a hour? Hmmm. Radio Shack may want to re-think this one... Picture this: on June 8th at each and every Radio Shack across the country, a handful of EDAs show up to pitch lawn chairs, break out the frisbees, fire up portable barbeque pits and refuse to leave until the final encore. What's worse, they all sing along. (We call it "Jewel Tailgating", BTW ;-) While you're at it, make sure to ask for the promotional sidewalk signs (before you start singing along and frighten the store manager, of course). * ahem * For those of you who are less bold, the odds are that RCA/Radio Shack will work with DirecTV to release it as a future free monthly performance special for satellite subscribers (ala the recent Blondie and Paul McCartney concerts). But tailgating the local sh*t shack sure sounds like a lot more fun! Michael your so lucky 11 or 12 concerts *sigh* some of you other Angels have seen her a couple of times. Im jealous of you too. I first saw Jewel on 7-17-96. About three years later, the Spirit Tour is announced and I finally got to see her (Tampa, Fl) - it had been just over 3 years and 1 month since I first saw her. If I get to see her this year I'll be lucky. So for all you angels who havent seen her yet, dont give up hope.
