The prizes being bidded for the Jewel concert on the 6th of June is extremely crazy. Any normal fan without money is completely without a honest chance. So any regurlar fan can't attend this special concert in NYC. So the idea for the auction is nice, but the prizes involved are really stupid, and i wondered why Jewel doesn't give normal concerts in europe for example as all the activities are lately only concerning the USA fans. I would really hope that Jewel's management and Jewel herself decides to come back to Europe to give at least the concerts that were cancelled last year because of illness of Jewel. Just my opinion.. As I said, I have a lot of great songs to include on it already. But I REALLY want to include songs such as Raven Do Not Think No More Heartaches Be still My Little Heart I was wondering if anyone is willing to trade me the 1/11/96 java joes tape (I know that has some of these songs). If you have the tape, please email me and we can work something out. Or if you have one of the songs listed, PLEASE let me know as soon as possible. I am going to start compiling next month no matter which songs I have. So it is up to you to make this tape the best it can be. Here's just a bit more about Jewel's upcoming book , as well as some of her thoughts in general ... --Joe VH1.com , late 5/26/00 ... The author known as Jewel scribes a book; and so much more in the Memorial Day weekend edition of VH1.com's news wire. Jewel is readying her new book, which at the moment is called Chasing Down the Dawn: Life Stories by Jewel. "It's been a long book to write," she told Launch.com. "It's a different process than poetry. It's a book of short stories and prose and crap like that....I mainly did a lot of it on the road between 12 and 4 AM." William Faulkner would have approved. from : http://www.vh1.com/thewire/news/article.jhtml?ID=504 and earlier from Launch ... Jewel (Folk Rock) Jewel's Second Book On The Way (1/25/00) - Jewel is prepping the release of her second book, Chasing Down The Dawn: Life Stories By Jewel, which will contain original short stories and prose. After receiving more public than critical approval for her first book, A Night Without Armor, she has decided to try her hand at another. She hopes the new book will help teenagers to develop a sense of self. The Alaskan songstress tells LAUNCH that writing her thoughts out helped her sort out her life. "I think writing is a great thing because you hear your thoughts; you see them on paper," she says. "You start to hear what you're thinking, and the world is a physical manifestation of thought. Our hands manifest what we tell them to manifest, right? Our hands do articulate what we tell them to do, and so the world then is a manifestation of thought, so we should be careful what we think. And our worlds become what we think. So I was always thinking afraid thoughts, thoughts of how little I had, and I just started thinking, 'If I turn my head around, maybe my life will turn around.' And it kind of has, in a really fundamental way." At press time there was no official release date for the book, but publisher Harper Collins hopes to get it out by the summer. - -- Darren Davis, New York from : http://www.launch.com/Features/fs_Start.asp?contentType=NEWS&FeatureMode=New s&contentId=5336 ===== folk_rock@yahoo.com My Home Page --Currently on KOSOVO , etc. : http://www.geocities.com/joeshenk ___________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 May 2000 14:56:56 EDT From: SAINTS442@aol.com Subject: * jewel dvd Hi, I'm new to this list and just wanted to say hello. I live in UK and really appreciate Jewel's music I was lucky enough to see her in concert in Southampton, England, last year and she was just brilliant. The best live singer i have seen. I just wanted to ask anyone if any of the Jewel concerts/videos are available anywhere on DVD ? Having just bought a DVD player i was really keen to try and get a DVD of her music. There is so little coverage of her music visually over this side of the pond. Anyway, any feedback would be very much appreciated ! A little thumbnail photo of Jewel was in there, along with some other people who were quickly forgotten. the Caption said. Love it! The all-natural teeth trend It used to be that women needed teeth as straight and perfect as a white picket fence to make it in Tinseltown or snag a modeling contract. But these days, all bets are off. Models, actresses, singers and even singers-turned-actresses are breaking into skewed smiles; orthodontists everywhere are probably panicking. Got a gap-toothed grin? Smile- you're in good company. People keep bidding. Thats why the prices are so high now. It has nothing to do with Jewel or the auction, but the bidders, and I think its perfectly fair. > The prizes being bidded for the Jewel concert on the 6th of June is > extremely crazy. It goes to charity. I, too, would give that much money to a charity, whether or not I was getting something in return. And I've seen crazier bids on Ebay. People will spend anything so their obsessed daughter can go see NSync or something. Ive seen tickets for for $3,000 for TWO. >Any normal fan without money is completely without a honest > chance. So any regurlar fan can't attend this special concert in NYC. I'm sure any "regular" fan has plenty of money. There's plenty of self-supporting, adult fans on this list, who do have several thousand dollars. I, myself, have several thousand stashed away, and I'm only 20. Its nothing unusual to have money, Unless your a kid without a job. > So the idea for the auction is nice, but the prizes involved are really > stupid, and i wondered why Jewel doesn't give normal concerts in europe for > example as all the activities are lately only concerning the USA fans. I can answer that. Because Jewel is based in the US. And thats where the largest fan base is in. She gave concerts last year in Europe. And I don't know why you're complaining about her not going to Europe. You saw, what? 11... 12 concerts of Jewel in, like a month? Isn't that enough? Most fans would be satisfied seeing her once. Its the same thing of European based singers. I wouldnt expect them to spend all their time in the US, to satisfy the few people that may have heard of them. > would really hope that Jewel's management and Jewel herself decides to come > back to Europe to give at least the concerts that were cancelled last year > because of illness of Jewel. Its done, ancient history. Give Jewel a break... if she wants to go to Europe, she will. Its not the end of the world.
