Here it is again for your convenience. All the best, Alan MrBB-"What's Simple Is True"- not so simple facts about "WSIT" Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 13:21:39 -0500 From: MrBB To: jewel@smoe.org, jewel-news@smoe.org Hi all, A few astute listeners wrote asking me questions about the various versions of "What's Simple Is True". The most common question is whether the movie version is the same as the single & MTV video version. Good question & oh, if it was only that simple... ;-) Since, I figure others are also interested in the various versions of this, here's the deal, and yes, it's very confusing, so you may need to read this more than once to totally understand it. There are 3 significantly different studio versions of "What's Simple Is True". They are: 1) The original album version. This was recorded & mixed during the 1998 sessions for Jewel's 2nd album "Spirit". For all future reference purposes, known as "the album version". 2) The radio remix version. This is the single version. This was remixed in 1999 & released as a radio single. (For collectors, the single was only released to radio stations & is catalogued as Atlantic PRCD 9044.) This version is also the one used in two significant other places: It's the version used for the video of the song (as shown on MTV) AND is the same version on the "Ride With The Devil" movie soundtrack CD. For all future reference purposes, known as "the single version". And just when you thought you had a grip on all this: 3) The "RWTD" version. This is the version that plays while the credits are rolling in the movie. It's yet another mix with somewhat different instrumentation than the single version. Surprisingly, it's NOT the version on the soundtrack CD & is only available on the movie itself (or DVD) while the credits roll. For all future reference purposes, known as "the movie version" (even though it is not the version on the soundtrack CD). That's the not so simple facts on the various versions of "What's Simple Is True".
