My cousin from Montreal is coming to visit me soon and she offered to buy me some CDs, so i was wondering if any Canadian EDAs know of any special versions of Jewel CDs and singles they sell specially in Canada (stuff they don't release in the US). thanx! =) Katherine www.womeninmusic.web.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 23:09:16 -0600 From: "Systemrip" Subject: * RE:Re: Pieces of You - 2 Discs No, the vinyl edition DOES have Rocker Girl and not race car driver (I have it)....I know what she/he (can't remember) was talking about....I think I might be able to purchase a copy here.....it's like $40......I don't have the original post so if someone is interested let me know and I'll go see if the store still has it.... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Feb 2000 00:53:29 EST From: Kkosatka@aol.com Subject: * Jewel was here yesterday I cannot tell you how incredibly pissed I am. Jewel was here all day yesterday (in Waco, Texas of all places) and I didn't know it. Apparently Ty was getting inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame here in town. I am soooo bitter. It was funny b/c it was on the news and the commentator started talking about Ty and then switched gears and went on and on and on about how good Jewel looked. I could have died. Oh well, story of my life. I'm always so close...yet so far away. --kim ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 23:30:28 -0800 (PST) From: Jeremy H Subject: * NJC: Sydney Gathering Hello all, Again, the sydney EDA gathering is being held on the 26th of Febuary, which is a saturday, please email me or khoi (khoi_m@hotmail.com) for the info and the times regarding the gathering.......:) Jeremy :) **The Scorpion, Peace Loving, and Kind & Gentle Angel!** My ICQ number is 42872979. I would make the tape myself but I don't have >that much Angelfood let alone those songs. Some other songs would be >Kilkinney Pub, Happy Endings, etc. This is a great idea! I love Jewel's old stuff but haven't had the chance to collect any of her newer songs from the recent tour. Three kids keep me kinda busy! About the Jewel signature model Taylor, I have been making enquiries hoping that it would be a replica of the 912c that she played in Jewel: Unplugged. It isn't though, it is based on their 314 model which is a bit smaller, apparently anyone can buy the 912c anytime, but it is 3 times the price of the JKSM! Taylor wanted to make something aimed at her fans who they assume are in the teenage/early 20's age range, something affordable to this agegroup (if you could call $1598US affordable lol). Here's part of an email describing the guitar.. "The wood on the back and sides is a Nigerian hardwood called "Satinwood." Unusual in color, it is more green than yellow when we first get it - we add an amber stain and it becomes basically golden. The tone is similar to maple, but with a stronger bass response - as far as we know, it hasn't been used on a solid wood acoustic guitar before. The inlays are patterned after her own designs, which can be found on her website, as is the inlay on the back of the guitar (just on the top, right under the heel). It has her name inlaid on the fingerboard and 5% of the wholesale proceeds will go to Jewel's charity." I asked for a photo but they didn't have one available as yet. When I get one, I will post it to the list. Oh and if you want one of these guitars, I suggest you hurry because they were 65% sold out last week when I made the initial inquiry. They are only making 1000 as you know, and I have been told that 750 of these are staying in the US, with only 250 for the rest of the world. Jewel received the most "smooches" of the ten celebrities who participated. We know that the EDA's & EDA websitemasters really came through for us on this & we want to extend a great big THANK YOU!!! Shane Kilcher (Clearwater management & Jewel's brother) will be sending along a message for the EDAs & I'll forward it to these lists tonight, probably. In the meantime, you should celebrate how great you are! Most people have only heard Hands off Spirit! The more people who buy spirit, the more incurraged Jewel will be to make another record! I hope that wasnt to confusing. So lets all go out and vote for "whats simple is true" on TRL and the radio stations!!!! Hi All, On Feb 9th, Jewel taped a new show hosted by Candice Bergen called "Exhale". She interviewed Jewel for an hour & a few NEW songs were performed live. I'm not sure how this will be edited, but I can tell you it's one of the best interviews ever done with Jewel & there's a performance of "Break Me" that had many in attendance choked up & teary eyed, including Candice Bergen. The new Oxygen Network will broadcast Jewel's appearance next Thursday, Feb 24th. Check your local cable listings for time & availability in your area.
