A collaborative poem about Jewel's mom and, to Jewel's mom would be a very personal and collective show of appreciation. It wouldn't be combined or confused with Jewel's upcoming birthday. It's a very "doable" project and, would be something in which we could each participate. Good thinking Ashley! If we can come to a favorable consensus, I would be willing to collect the entries and assemble the poem. All those in favor say, "Alaska." Everyone on this list is invited to these activities. Be you from Kentucky (1.5 hrs. away), Cols. (1.75 hrs.), or Indianapolis (1.5 hrs.). I even have people interested who are in Cleveland. SO if you can make it, we will welcome you. For all who are wondering, there has definitely been enough of you interested to merit following through with this idea. I do encourage other people who are interested to e-mail me so that I can answer questions, and have a head count. We will be working with the Over-the-Rhine Housing Network from 10am to about 3 or 4pm. But you are welcome to join us downtown at a later time or just in Oxford for the movie. The movie will be shown at 6ish in Oxford, Ohio <<45056>. I will have directions and more detailed information within the next day or so. This information will all be posted on a temp. web-site for all to see. Right now I am figuring at least 10+ EDAs doing work in Cinci. with me on Sat. morning/afternoon. And about 14 or so people attending the movie viewing. I don't have much of an idea of how many people are interested in coffee house/poetry session, and Bible study. But I know that I do have interested individuals for both, so both will occur. I would also like to add that the friend of mine who is leading the poetry reading has actually had some pieces published, not to demean or belittle anyone's accomplishments, I just wanted to let everyone know that she is a credible poet. And if any of you can, and would like to play guitar that would be awesome. Thank you! Subject: * more about Austin City Limits with Jewel Regarding Luna's post.... - ----- > STEPHENVILLE (new song, hilarious meditation on texas, cowboys, her dad, > and how twenty-five isn't old yet) > > BREAK ME (new song, break me, take me, let me feel your arms > again----absolutely stunning) > > ROSY AND MICK (new song, i'm sorry i can't mend a broken heart) - ------ The above titles of the new songs Jewel played in Austin are of course not the "official" titles, but merely ones that Luna decided to give to them...just wanted to clear that up before people start asking about them. They *may* be correct, but that would be purely coincidental. Also, - ---- > EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEONE (SOMETIME) - ---- Isn't this a new song? I never heard of it before...or seen it appear in any setlists before. It sounded sort of famliar, so maybe it's a cover song...anyone know? I did go there and gave a kiss to everybody + 1 more to Jewel... but that's just for sentimental reasons :))) nothing to do with wanting her to win... just using the oportunity! ;) They all are there representing their good cause and all of them are equally important... so if everybody would stop obsessing over Jewel must win! Honestly I don't even know what the point of this kissing is... what does it prove... it could only be about which charity do you think is more deserving of getting the extra $25K (personally I can't pick just one)... but most of the people go there and give a smooch to their favorite celeb... and that would unlikely change even if their charity would be for "billionaires gone broke foundation"! I wasn't going to post about this, but Laurel proved that there are people out there who get it! I've always noticed how many people post asking about guitar strings, tabs. And many of you talk about writing poetry and such. I was wondering if there are others like me, those not blessed with a musical gift and a way with words. Those of you who do play, are you drawn to Jewel because she does what you love, and she's great at it? I feel that way about some dancers. I love to dance, have for years, but, and I hate to admit this, I'm not great at it. I'm not the worst dancer, but there is no way that I could dance for a living. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't sing, write, or play the guitar Am I as alone as I feel? Jewel makes me want to do these things, but I don't have the natural talent, or the time to work at it. I guess I'll have to stick to admiring others for their talent, and focus on the things that I excell in. - -Kerri my homepage: We Are EveryDay Angels check out my angelfood page, there's a link from my main page "But don't wander too far, My one constant star, Darkness exists, except where you are, My feet are filled with wandering, They follow your own, 'Cause everywhere you are feels like home." -Jewel, Last Dance Rodeo ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Feb 2000 01:53:08 -0800 (PST) From: "Joe P. Why is this such an issue... unless you like each and every Jewel's song you ever heard exactly the same it means one or more of them are your least favorite! That doesn't even mean you dislike it... it just means that it is your least favorite... as the name reveales... it is a song that you like "least"... so you can like all of her songs without exception and still have a least favorite... Personally with the exception of the last three songs (not counting Little bird) the most of Spirit could be nominated for that (either it's the worse version or just a little too uninspired)... I wish My Fish Family was on that album in its original version... that song alone would have more wit and sound appeal than most of the album put together (of course I'm strictly not counting Do You - cause that is brilliant... and Life Uncommon too)! Ok I know I know... I was a little harsh... I don't think that bad of the album, but compared to her songs that I love most - this almost sucks! I MEAN GO LISTEN TO "DOWN SO LONG" ON ONE OF YOUR PRE-SPIRIT ANGELFOOD TAPES!!! You'll get what I'm getting at with that version issue! That is a real taste of what and why about Jewel's music! And don't get me started on Carnivore, When I Was With You, Nicotine Love, SIBTW, LMJLMA and others... and you'll soon realize that with that brilliance there's bound to be some that you'll like less... and that's what this poll is all about! It's not about disregarding everything good about her music but pointing out that everything she creates isn't brilliant! And just as with favorite songs... there are bound to be very different nominations... Anyways... it is really a very hard question... to decide which song you like least becuase you tend not to focus on that... and rather enjoy what pleases your mind and soul! So I know there's at least one song on my angelfood that I like less than all of those on Spirit... but I also know there are dozens that I like better by faaaaaar! So if this makes me the bad seed... fine... you can calmly consider me a no fan of Jewel's... but you can't take away my love for her music! Also... to the person who started this poll... I didn't vote yet cause I can't really decide... For now you can put me down for Kiss The Flame and I'll write again later (just send me the adress) if I manage to think of three that I can expose!!! - -- Have fun and stay beautiful Dr. RomeAntic, an angel with the worst stroke of luck and a flash of silver lining "I held you when you were sick even ........................"
