Exact times are listed on the jeweljk.com calendar. This is a particularly good one & has Jewel on the same show as one of our favorite musicians: Rickie Lee Jones. Jewel is taping "Austin City Limits" tonight. This excellent PBS show will be broadcast in May or June & we'll keep you informed on air date. Also, rumor has it that Steve Poltz may be staying in Austin to play a solo gig at La Zona Rosa tomorrow night. Area EDAs should check into this. Thanks for EDA patience during the repairs to the jeweljk.com email system. CustomerService will be up & running soon. If you have an emergency problem with JMerch, you can forward it to me & I'll see that they get it. (Send it here though because alan@jeweljk.com is also down right now) Otherwise, please save your message & the website addresses will be working again soon. Thanks! Also, this week's NEW Jewel photos are already up on our photo page. Enjoy! Alan Benefit Clearwater Project by sending Jewel a "Smooch" for Valentine's Day. It's FREE. It's easy! Thanks to your list manager Mike, who also runs Patty Griffin's list, I was able to hook Patty's list up for tickets to a "Sessions At West 54th Street" taping that occurred a few weeks after Jewel taped her Christmas Special there last year. Since many EDAs are also fan's of Patty, I thought many would like to know that her episode of "Sessions" begins airing on many PBS stations this coming weekend. (She splits the show with Wilco.) Check local listings for times in your area. I was at this taping, as were quite a few EDAs, & Patty's performance was wonderful. If you haven't checked her out, I highly encourage you to do so. Patty has a longtime tie to the EDAs as she was the honored guest asked to open for Jewel at the now legendary "JewelStock" back in 1996. Many of us got hooked that night & in my opinion, Patty has continued to create some of the most compelling & astounding music of any contemporary songwriter working today. Check her out! Exact times are listed on the jeweljk.com calendar. This is a particularly good one & has Jewel on the same show as one of our favorite musicians: Rickie Lee Jones.>> Since posting this last night, I've been informed that this broadcast is actually right here on American TV. It'll be broadcast on the BBC America cable network. Check your local cable system to see if they carry it. I don't know if it coincides with standard UK BBC programming or not. A UK EDA will have to check the local schedule & post on that. Just wanted to clarify. The jeweljk.com calendar has been corrected & the broadcast times are listed. Also, for Austin area EDAs only: In last night's post, I also mentioned a Steve Poltz Austin gig going on "tomorrow night". Since most are reading that post today, I wanted to avoid anyone missing it due to confusion. It's TONIGHT at La Zona Rosa in Austin. ;-) Alan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 02:31:09 -0800 (PST) From: chilinvilin@webtv.net (John and Carolyn) Subject: * Live real audio I found a real audio of a concert of Jewel's in San Diego Ca. on June 27th 1997. My Everyday Angels. This is a very intimate letter, and thought I haven't found out its objective yet, I'm writing to you. You know, I fell sort of isolated, for I am so far away. Why I admire Jewel? I decided to think a little and reflect on why we have idols and that love question. Perhaps you think it's an old subject, but I see it everyday. I guess there are plenty of reasons. I'll start from down under... She's a pretty girl. And I shall say that one way or another, I admire pretty people. Can science explain this?? I don't think so. It's not logical. She's not the owner of perfect forms, but the joining of them gets to an amazing result. It's not 'standard beauty', and that gets my atention. To things that we can't explain are attached labels that we create. But would she be an angel? Maybe. But I believe she's a person. Just a person. Isn't it enough? For most of us, it is not. We look for things, even not knowing what these things are. She's a poet. Oh, well, I am a poet as well. But she's a songwiter, which means she's a melody poet. I have some songs of my own. The fact is that I fell the melodies coming out from me, they're inside me, though they're Jewel's. But sometimes, when I listen, I fell they are mine. And it doesn't happen all the time. That's a way to get to someone. She's a singer. I am a singer. She's a popstar. 'We all wanna be big, big stars, but we don't know how and we don't know why'. We have fear. I have fear. I don't want to feel lonely. She makes me believe in angels. She's so much of what I want to be. For some, that would be reason enough to hate her. Love, hate, they're a little portion of a thing that's much bigger.... That's about much more than love and hate. Sometimes we get confused...
