Hi all, Ah....life is so relaxing these days. Don't ya just love it? Well...maybe not, hehe... but I sure do! I do have some news for you today (for those going through withdrawal). First, Jewel will finally be taping another show that I know many here have wished for: Austin City Limits! This is another GREAT hourlong PBS show that has had a lengendary list of performers over the years. This will be taped in Austin in February & will be broadcast this coming May or June. Jewel will also be taping a brand new program hosted by Candice Bergen called "Oxygen". I put some more details up on the jeweljk.com calendar & I'll soon add the broadcast time, when we know it (This will be shown in Feb). Check the website calendar for more info. Also it's Tuesday(for a little while longer), so that means NEW PHOTOS DAY at jeweljk.com. This week we continue with more of our favorite "never before seen" shots from the Spirit Tour. We focused on band members as well as Jewel this time. There's also a nice one of Jewel's brother Atz Lee joining the band one night (on harp) & one older Java Joe's shot of Steve & Jewel. Other than that, Jewel will have a track on the "Jingle Ball 99" charity CD to be released by STAR FM in San Diego next month & work on her second book continues. Oh yeah....Sending Jewel a FREE CyberKiss for Valentines Day will raise funding for HGH's Clearwater Project! Details to be announced soon! Stay tuned. Be curious. Be very curious! ;-) Alan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2000 01:59:54 EST From: AGonz007@aol.com Subject: * jewel-digest V4 #766 Hey guys there is this poll to see who we would like to see on the cover of Marie Clair http://www.homearts.com/ mc/toc/00mchpc1.htm go vote for Jewel!! Season you (and few others) have recently asked for a mailing address in regards to Project Warmth so that you might participate by sending in goods. I had intended to answer that question in my post about the LRC Benefit, but I shall do so now. No there is no mailing address. Please mail no goods to Southern California for Project Warmth. :) I'll explain...Project Warmth was conceived in the hopes that participating EDAs would look out not only into the world at large and see a global need, but also a very tangible and local one as well. Anyone who (as a result of this idea) takes the initiative and sees that warm clothing/blankets/etc are placed into the hands of those who need them amongst the less fortunate of our fellow humans, is participating in Project Warmth. All of the participants in this project have pledged to collect and distribute such goods locally. This has the effect of not only being a less costly effort for the volunteer, but also a more expedient means of getting the goods to those in need. There is also a greater personal reward by learning just how appreciated and valued your efforts are by carrying the Project thru to its ultimate end yourself. If you would like me to help you to find an organization or charitable group that can make use of donations of this sort near where you live, I will attempt to do so (so far only two locales have baffled me...but I am hot on the trail still!). If you would like help setting up an event that would benefit the Project (such as our LRC in SoCal this past weekend) then I will also do my best to help in that endeavor. As Project Coordinator I really wanted to avoid having any EDA focus on any area of the country other than the one we each call home. I hope this clears up any misconceptions about Project Warmth and it's implementation. Any Questions? I'd known it was written for Romeo and Juliet, but I never knew where in the movie it was supposed to be. From what Jewel said, I figured ou the scene. It's the fish tank scene (my fav!!!) where Romeo and Juliet see each other for the first time. I love the song that they put in the movie, but I could definitley see Face of Love in it's place. It goes so perfectly, totally describes the moment. And listening to the tapes, made me wish, yet again, that I had discovered Jewel earlier. Wish I had seen jewel in an intimate setting. The Sessions taping made me want everyone to be able to experience the intimate setting. I don't want to go back to being one in a huge crowd. I think I finally understand how the older fans feel. - -Kerri my homepage: We Are EveryDay Angels check out my angelfood page, there's a link from my main page "But don't wander too far, My one constant star, Darkness exists, except where you are, My feet are filled with wandering, They follow your own, 'Cause everywhere you are feels like home." -Jewel, Last Dance Rodeo ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2000 12:18:37 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: * NJC: FINAL Tara MacLean in Austin UPDATE! (EDA gathering) Time's running out! I hope everyone is making some final plans to attend the Tara shows this coming weekend in Austin, TX! I haven't heard from anyone in about a week, so I guess yall are all taking care of your own plans. Should we meet at a certain time/place? Just a suggestion. I plan to get to Austin around 5:00pm on Friday so if anyone else is there then, or before then, maybe we can all meet up somewhere before the first show. Also, does anyone know how much before the show she's been doing her soundchecks lately? Just wondering so maybe we could go check that out too. Here's a copy of the letter I've been sending to these lists now for the past month, it contains the names of those who have stated they want to go, or are going for sure, so if anyone else decides they want to go, let me know and I will add you to the list as well...but there's not alot of time left now. I doubt I'll post a letter on Friday since by then it may be too late anyway. Here's the letter and list...... Here's an updated list of everyone's name whose told me they intend on going to one or more of the Tara MacLean shows in Austin, TX on January 21-23, 2000. If you're interested in going to this and meeting fellow EDA's and Tara fan's, e-mail me and I can add you to the list. The show is FREE all 3 nights, start's at 8:00pm, and is at a coffeehouse called Ruta Maya. I don't think there is a minimum age requirement, since it's not at a bar or club. Most going are between 16 and 30. If you see someone's name from your area and want to go but don't have transportation of your own, you may be able to work out a carpool with them. You can check out this website to get more info regarding location, phone number, etc. --------- http://rutamaya.net/house.html --------- It has a photo of the place too! '98 (here in the UK on Spirit promo rounds...) - with Do You and Jupiter live and acoustic. Anyway, on the first chorus of Jupiter, she sings: "Oh, oh, Jupiter. Oh, oh, the night's a starry dawn. Oh, oh, love is a flame..." - instead of "be still my little heart." I don't remember anyone mentioning it, so I was wondering if she has ever done it since (on her tour sometime?), that anyone knows of? it's a nice change... have a good day... Hey All, I was glad to hear (see post below) Jewel was reading "Schroedinger's kittens and the search for reality". I have read this excellent book! Gribbin is a great science writer--I love his stuff. The book really explains well the mysterious quantum experiments that seem to show what Einstein called "spooky action at a distance". These experiments show unconnected particles instantaneously behaving in relationship to each other and to the observer of the experiments--seemingly violating the finite laws of the universe we have so painstakingly articulated. Seems to be a role for the observer in what happens in these experiments. Science-fiction like stuff that actually happens! The book certainly helps to show that even though we live in "the information age" and think we know everything, there are still "more things in heaven and earth than dreamt of in our philosophies" as Shakespeare put it. Exciting stuff. I already knew Jewel was cool, but I love her all the more knowing she is also so inquisitive about the world around her. I always get the feeling that there are several laws of the universe we have left out of our theories because they are not as well adapted to our methods of study (i.e. science, linear causality). Anyone who pays attention to their own mind and spirituality like Jewel does so intensely, already knows this at some level. Yes, she is awesome. Hi all, Now THAT'S an intriguing subject line, eh?! This goes out to all EDAs & all EDA websitemasters that may be inspired to help with a timely Valentines Day project that will be both fun for EDAs AND help raise more awareness & funding for HGH's Clearwater Project (which the EDAs greatly contributed to recently). Jewel will be among seven celebrities participating in AmericanGreetings.com's "CYBER SMOOCH FOR A CURE". Each celebrity will be representing a non-profit organization that helps fight life threatening or debilitating diseases. Naturally, Jewel chose to represent HGH's Clearwater Project. Here's how it works: Beginning February 1, seven celebrity photos (including Jewel's) will be featured at AmericanGreetings.com's website. Every time a visitor clicks a button to send Jewel a FREE "SmoochMail", AmericanGreetings.com increases the donation to Clearwater Project. Plus, if Jewel receives the most "SmoochMail", Clearwater Project will receive a $25,000 donation from AmericanGreetings.com. So... I encourage everyone to please help with this campaign. There is nothing to purchase & no financial obligation of any kind on your part. Simply go to AmericanGreetings.com between Feb. 1 to Feb. 14, click a button & send Jewel a FREE "SmoochMail" for Valentines Day! Jewel-content website masters can also help greatly by having links & info about this while its running, which will be from Feb. 1 to Feb 14 (Valentines Day). We have some cool FLASH animation & a link to it planned for jeweljk.com, but of course the more fansites joining in too, the merrier. Also feel free to post about this to appropriate message boards, etc. Thanks in advance! With all the EDA polls & various online "voting for Jewel" you always support, this should be a piece of cake, right? ;-) Any EDA with web access can do this for the fun of it. It's a simple click of a button by Jewel's photo to send her a "SmoochMail". By doing this, you will help support HGH's Clearwater Project. Cheers! Alan For more information about Clearwater Project, please visit: http://www.clearwaterproject.com Send Jewel a "SmoochMail". It's easy! Go to: http://www.AmericanGreetings.com Begins 1st of February! ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V5 #22 **************************
