Jewel even says that her true fans believe in her as a person.. now if Jewel thinks her fans don't really know her then how could we believe in someone we don't know? We can't.. because its not true.. we know Jewel.. Atleast most of us do. I know I do. Also, to tell you the truth, if we knew Jewel in person and she wasn't a songwriter or a poet I don't think we would know her as well as we do now. We know lots of people in real life, but do we really KNOW them? Knowing someone in real life can mean knowing what their favorite movie is, or knowing what time they meet dinner. But is that REALLY knowing them? Jewel reveals way more to us through her music and her poems than she ever could if we knew her in real life. Think about it.. when she writes these things, and throws them into the public, she's not looking the public face to face. I bet if it were just us and Jewel, she wouldn't be able to look us in the face and tell us everything she is feeling like in her poems. So people who think you can't love Jewel because you don't know her.. I think we know her as well as we need to and thats how it is possible to love her. When I first read the letter from Jewel, then the whole "Too many people loving me is annoying" speech. I didn't know what to think. I was mad at first I'll admit (Talking to other EDA's and getting their views across, they all vented some negativity towards it all.) As a performer myself, I totally understand that she could be overwhelmed, but she could have been a little more modest...taking complements like "Ohhh, really...Thanks" instead of "Yeah I already know Im good...Quit loving me so much" What I got out of all of it was that she's overwhelmed right now. And yes, she should probably take some time off and/or do smaller shows. She's been working really hard with promotions, sales and concerts...and she's been getting some bad publicity lately with some newspapers and such. And I totally agree with the whole "Love can mean different things" I love just about everyone on some sort of level...
