A helpful hint to always remember if you're planning on going to the view sometime- don't bother showing up at 7 in the morning thinking that you're guaranteed front row. It was like 31 degrees as I stood outside the studio for three hours. They take no pity on the cold audience members outside. Anyway I was lucky in one respect. At 745 a big giant stretch limo pulled up and guess who walked out strutting her stuff one foot away from me? Yes- the woman herself. Jewel- seriously guys is so beautiful words just cannot describe..she was wearing kakhis and a navy pea coat and these funky black shoes...hmmmm I'm thinking definately a pair of Steve Maddens. Her boyfriend ...at least I think so...was there with her. He was a guy in a leather coat and cowboy boots so I just assumed it was. Of course all I could do was hyperventilate and chant under my breath...oh my god...oh my god..so I didn't get an autograph. And since she looked way! ! over tired and busy chatting with someone else...I decided to repsect her and not attack with fan antics. Just seeing her...standing that close for the whole 5 minutes was enough. I'm satisfied...lol. Now my story gets a little disheartening. My roomate and I were 1st in line....and we ended up only getting the 2nd row on the balcony. All the lower seats were reserved. And they were not reserved with Jewel fans. Thats sad. So my view was somewhat distorted b/c they threw down this curtain and I never got to see her interview. I enjoyed it much better on Tv when I watched when I got home. Her singing was amazing though. I still don't know how she does it. I think I should really thank Beth and David for their extra 2 tix. I wouldn't have been able to go without them. The group of EDA's that surrounded us are so dedicated......I'm glad they made mention of us.....I don't think it got on TV but Jewel did say thank you to us you know. Anyway that is it for me.....awaiting yet another chance to see her but I think I'm taking a rest. Running to NYC had just about drained my funds. I know I am... itz just 2hours into Christmas Eve and I'm so excited. Anyway I was looking through our newspaper today when I came across a review for Joy. The reviewer for the Australian paper The Daily Telegraph Dino Scatena usually gives tough reviews and most of his likings are for dance albums and so the first thing to surprise me was the 5 star rating of the holiday album and the review surprised me even more.. so here it is.... Oh, this Jewel, must surely be an angel. Not one of those trashy angels depicted in modern television and cinema, but the real thing straight from heaven. Look at her, she looks like an angel. Listen to her and she sounds like an angel. She even comes from Alaska, which is pretty close to where Santa lives. Does that mean that she's an elf? No, couldn't be. Oh, a Christmas album from Jewel. Could there be anything more precious in this festive season? No, no- there couldn't. Even when she's singing other people's Chritsmas carols, she still sounds like the poet that she is. Don't ask me how that works, I can't descirbe it, it's just a feeling that you get in your guts. Oh Jewel. But wait a sec! Have we mistakenly put in the CD by young Melbourne talent Marcus Jilla? The songs are basically the same - Silent Night, O Holy Night. No, no - for here's a version of Jewel's very own Hands. Phew - it is Jewel. Listen, she's doing a Christmas version of her song Hands. All those people who criticised her for not being a credible musical artist, let alone credible author or poet, you people haven't lived until you've heard this Jingle Bells remix of her classic. Now everyone, altogether: "In the end only kindness matters, in the end only kindness matters". Take us higher Jewel, take us higher. I think that was a really sweet review that reflects the talent of Jewel wonderfully.
