That, along with several other TV appearances, has been added to Jewel's website calendar. Another TV show or two will probably be added to the media appearances next week. Check the calendar daily for updates as I get them. I know this is a really long shot, but I'm going to ask anyway. A little while ago when Bits & Baubles was on sale at Target stores in the US they had an ad for it. Someone posted a URL where there was a quicktime version of it on-line. I very much doubt that it's STILL on-line because the CD is old now, but if anyone still has the URL I would like to give it a go anyway 'cos I think the ad's really cute. Does anyone remember or have the address written down somewhere? If you could pass it on that would be great! Thanks! Jess P.S. I have been doing a lot of net surfing lately in search of RWTD reviews. I have found A LOT!!! Most of them are very positive, especially towards Jewel. Although, a few are not ... "The less said about 'What's Simple is True,' the perfectly awful song she sings over the closing credits, the better." If anyone wants copies of any or any information from them, give me a bell! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Dec 1999 03:52:07 EST From: KCB1875@aol.com Subject: * jingle ball - san diego Hey all, Well, I just got back from Star 100.7's Jingle Ball in San Diego, where both Jewel and Poltzie performed, among many others. Jewel came on after Duran Duran... in her usual black leather pants and like 5 inch heals (I don't know how the hell she can walk in those things). Anyway, she opened (by herself) with Near you Always. Then she sang her usual version of WWSYS. Then she asked Steve Poltz to join her - they both sang YWMFM, I Thought I Saw You Last Night, and a killer version of Silver Lining (the crowd got into this one). Then Jewel walked off to the side of the stage and Poltzie sang Everything about You with Doug Pettibone playing the Steel guitar. He then said he had a gift for a 17 year old girl who just got straight As on her report card (remeniscent of the famous lucky lager incidents from last summer). But this time it was a bottle of milk. When the girl came to receive her gift, Poltz jumped her and totally made out with her, it was pretty funny. Closer examination with my binoculars ( I was in the last row) revealed that the so-called 17 year old was Anya Marina, Steve's girlfriend. Steve then sang Star Wars Song, which the crowd really loved. Jewel returned to the stage with Anya following. Anya threw the bottle of milk on the ground near Steve and jumped him and they macked out again. Jewel then asked if there was any good school boys that got As, and Steve's manager runs out on stage and tries to plant a kiss on Jewel, who cleverly dodges it. It was a pretty humorous scene. Jewel and Poltz ended their set with a cool duet of Love is a Rose, with each of them yodeling and improving (as in improvisations) verses. (By the way Steve mentioned during this song he's playing Java Joes Dec 22 and 23) It was a pretty cool, laid back set. Jewel looked like she was feeling much better, and in a good mood. The rest of the show was pretty cool - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy got the crowd dancing in the aisles. Melissa Etheridge, backed on drums by the animated Kenny Aronoff, rocked the place.... she really puts on a good show. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Take care everyone, KC ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Dec 1999 13:12:15 EST From: S1L2U3T@aol.com Subject: * Jewel Videos Online Does anyone know of any sites online you can go to download complete Jewel videos or live TV performances?? I just downloaded the Bits and Baubles commercial and now have a craving for more :) Thanks you guys!! ~*Annie*~ - -the wishful angel- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Dec 1999 16:45:39 +0100 From: "Dr. RomeAntic" Subject: * Part 2 of EDA MUSIC AWARDS 2000! Hey angels, EDA Music Awards 2000 have come to their second and final stage! Joining the 14 categories in which you decided what the nominees are gonna be are the MAIN CATEGORY - Album Of The Year + Song Of The Year, Album Of The Millennium*, Song Of The Millennium* & Best Jewel Song For those you can vote directly (no nominations)! * - only if plenty of you vote, cause it's a pretty damn broad list from which to pick from!!! Here are the instructions that I'd like you to follow to the best of your ability :) : 1. In every category ORDER IS IMPORTANT!!!!!!! Please list your votes in the closest order of preference you can come up with... becasue it makes a world of difference if you list one song/album as [1] or [20]!!! 2. You HAVE TO vote for Album Of The Year... That is the main category, because it was the only one that existed last year! here are last year's results: http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/2009/edabestof1998.html It is however enough to vote for one album... but it is your interest to vote for as many as possible (not more than 20 though) because that way you'll have more chance to list something others will too and that way more of your fave music will be placed higher! IF YOU DON'T VOT FOR THIS CATEGORY OTHERS WILL BE IGNORED! 3. For the 14 categories that each have 5 nominations you can vote for, the way to vote is next: Category [#] [Title] [Artist] where # represents the nominee ID... which is already written... so just copy... here's an example for: Best Country Album [4] [In... The Life Of Chris Gaines] [Garth Brooks] [1] [Fly] [Dixie Chicks] [3] [Wide Open Spaces] [Dixie Chicks] [2] [Breathe] [Faith Hill] [5] [A Place In The Sun] [Tim McGraw] which is equivalent to Best Country Album [4] [In... The Life Of Chris Gaines] [Garth Brooks] [1] [Fly] [Dixie Chicks] [3] [Wide Open Spaces] [Dixie Chicks] You get onyl three picks! First gets 5 points, second gets 3 points and third 1 point! Here "In... The Life Of Chris Gaines" would receive 5 points, "Fly" 3 and "Wide Open Spaces" 1. I think you get the picture!? :) 4. Every category besides Album Of The Year you can skip - just delete it if you wish not to vote! Rules in short for: a) Album Of The Year: only albums from 1998 or 1999 are eligible! b) Song Of The Year: only songs that charted this year or any unreleased song from the albums released in 1998 or 1999 are eligible! c) see above... #3! d) Album Of The Millennium: Any album you can think of! e) Song Of The Millennium: Any song you can think of! f) best Jewel Song: Any song jewel ever sang! Because this post would be way too long I decided that you should: For complete set of rules check the page on my website: http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/2009/edaawardsrules.html OR e-mail me! For the submission form and nominations check: http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/2009/edaawardsform.html OR e-mail me! Of course ALL VOTES MUST BE SENT TO ME at k4fr0010@kiss.uni-lj.si That's it... just a big thank you to those who sent in your nominations and those who will participate in this part two... I'm pretty sure those who nominated will want to be a part of this... and all of you who didn't you are still VERY INCURAGED AND WELCOME to participate here! I will post a reminder for this regularly! He was so deaf he wrote loud music. He took long walks in the forest even when everyone was calling him. I guess he could not hear so good. Beethoven expired in 1827 and later died from this." Shane tells me theres a nice pile of mail-in contributions he still has to open & will be adding them in on Monday. So that total will still be growing prior to Christmas. Thank you to all EDAs who have contributed already! The EDA card design team put in MANY hours of work collectively writing the message explaining this project & designing a card that Jewel will recieve for Christmas (from all The EDAs). And I'm serious about MANY hours, hehe! (Insert your own "How many EDAs does it take to screw in a lightbulb" joke here! ;-) The card designer overnighted it yesterday (just in time for deadline, yeah!) & it should be here today sometime. The card design team will update you directly on what great work they did soon. Shane (at HGH) will be compiling the list of names of all people who donated. That EDA list will accompany the card. I just want to add that its not too late to contribute. The EDA total can continue to grow as long as people feel supportive of this project. Early next year, we'll begin discussing the possibility of the EDAs adopting a Clearwater community & see how something like that may be implimented. But for now, a huge thanks to all who supported this project either by a direct contribution or by visiting the HGH & Clearwater websites to learn more. Needless to say, everyone on the J-Team, at HGH & Clearwater thank you for being such thoughtful fans. You are amazing! This project shows, once again, that the EDAs really get Jewel's message of helping others. Jewel will love this incredible Christmas present from The EDAs! Happy Holidaze! Alan PS. Instructions if needed: If you want to contribute toward the EDA "Giving Back To Jewel" Christmas present project, here's the instructions (below) for your convenience. Your contribution will be added to the ongoing EDA total if you follow these instructions to help us identify EDA donations. You'll be able to contribute directly to HGH/Clearwater either by mail or through the HGH website. You can determine what is most convenient for you. Here are the exact procedures to follow to be counted in the ongoing EDA total. PLEASE, follow these instructions carefully. If you do, we'll be able to periodically update you on how much the EDAs have contributed & provide the "card team" with an accurate list of all EDAs who participated. #1-For those who prefer mailing their contribution: You can send a check or money order. (Cash being sent through the mail is not recommended, but you can do it.) Please make any checks or money orders payable to: Higher Ground/Clearwater (Please DO NOT make them out to HGH, EDA Project, Jewel, or anything else!) Please write "EDA" in the memo line & in the mailing address as follows. Mail it directly to HGH at: Higher Ground For Humanity Attention: EDA PMB #302 300 CVD #108A Carlsbad, CA 92008 USA #2 For those who prefer the ease of using a credit card for their contribution: Go to the HGH Website at: http://www.highergroundhumanity.org. At the site is a very simple form so that you can donate with a credit card very easily. Increments of $1, $5, $10, etc are already in a pop-up menu for your convenience. This is also the recommended procedure for all international EDAs wishing to participate. The cool thing about international EDAs using a credit card is that once you choose your amount, it automatically converts your withdrawal at the current exchange rate! Great, huh? If you don't have a credit card, perhaps an EDA (with a credit card) in your country can help you. IMPORTANT: The one thing to remember if you choose to use a credit card on the website form, is to please write "EDA" in addition to your name in the "name" field of the form. Please don't forget this one little thing! The HGH staff processing credit card donations know to look for "EDA" in the name field. If you follow these instructions, your donation will be added to the EDA total & to the list of names we forward to the card design team. We'd love to see this become an ongoing project & to eventually have EDAs contributing real "hands on" help with new Clearwater Project locations. For now, we'll continue to keep an ongoing total running for all EDAs who follow the above procedures & depending on how much money is raised, perhaps the EDAs can adopt a specific location. We'll keep all that open for later discussion & let you concentrate on this particular project for now. Please visit the HGH & Clearwater websites to educate yourself more about their projects. I'm fairly new to the list, i joined as soon as i got internet access, around june '99. I was born in sacramento, ca. i dont like it much here, winters are the only time of the year i can stand. Summers make me ill. i cannot stand the hot weather. i am a junior in high school and i after i graduate i am going to attend Evergreen State College in olympia washington. i first heard of jewel in later 1996, when you were meant for me was just released. i saw the video for it and i thought it was the most beautiful video ever made. and to top it off i loved the song. i thought it had wonderful words and her voice just blew me away. i immediately went out and bought the single. i had never heard of jewel before. i hadnt even ever heard "who will save your soul". when i bought the ywmfm single i also fell in love with foolish games. i got POY for Christmas that year and loved it. especially little sister and adrian. well i love jewel, she has helped me thru so much. i was depressed in eighth grade. extreemly. i think most people are. but she was there for me and i found complete solace through her music, she inspired me to start writting my own stuff and i found great comfort in that as well. i finally saw her in concert this past summer after waiting for what seemed to be an eternity. it was the best experiance of my life. i saw her in san fransisco @ shoreline amp. in late june and i had awsome seats, i was overwhelmed to be there. it hadn't quite hit me yet that i would finally get to see her in person live instead of on the t.v. live, i was actually there. steve was doing his set and when he did impala, jewel came out from backstage and i started freaking out, i just started crying right there. it was what i had waited for for so long. i also saw her in september when she played in san fran. for a radio show, that was excellent as well. i live in sacramento california, by the way. any cali eda's please email me, id love to hear from you. well any edas =0). im sixteen years old, i will be turning 17 in january. other music i love are ani difranco, tori amos, letters to cleo, the murmurs, mary lou lord, kaia, sleater kinney, counting crows, madonna, cyndi lauper, liz phair, and many others. i am devoted to photography and the arts. listening to music is my life. if anyone likes any of the things i mentioned, please email me. i love all the eda's and the list. take care everyone. love nicky ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #751 ***************************
