I never really got the chance to introduce myself , like others have recently , but I guess I'll just say a few words , because I probably will have to sign off of this discussion list soon , and just stay on the jewel-news one . I am from Virginia ( born in Richmond , and last lived in Harrisonburg ) , but I've lived the last few years on Long Island , NY , about an hour or so east of Manhattan . I have a college degree from a few years back , and I will soon be joining the ranks of those involved with taking the USA 2000 Census . A few years ago , I was a part of a Goodwill / Peace delegation to war-torn Bosnia-Herzegovina , about eight or nine months after the horrors stopped with the signing of a peace treaty . Jewel is my favorite singer-songwriter , and Natalie Merchant is a very close second . In addition , I very much enjoy the music of Sarah McLachlan , Alanis Morissette ( especially her newer stuff ) , Paula Cole , The Cranberries , Lisa Loeb , Tori Amos , The Indigo Girls , Joan Osborne , U2 , R.E.M. , Collective Soul , LIVE , Creed , Matchbox 20 , Tonic , Jars of Clay , Sixpence None the Richer , and more . So , getting back to Jewel ... I find her music to be great , and I'm talking about her two main albums , P.O.Y. and Spirit , because I've never really heard all of the other unreleased stuff that everybody is always talking about ... But , to me , her studio albums are awesome , and I just LOVE " Spirit ! " My favorite songs so far are ... Hands , Life Uncommon , Absence of Fear , and Who Will Save Your Soul . But I really like almost every single song on both albums ! I had wanted to get Bits 'N Baubles , but didn't manage to at the time it came out . Does anyone know whether the Target Stores have gotten more copies of the " Bits " CD ? Or does anyone have an extra copy , or at least a copy of that cd that they would be willing to sell ? Or make a copy of ? Finally , I'd love to learn of any fellow EDA Long Islanders ( or nearby ) out there ... Are there any ? Please e-mail me privately . :-) I wish everyone a very happy , meaningful holiday season , and a bright new year ! Anyone who wants , feel free to e-mail me sometime , as in the next few weeks I'll be signing off of this list , so you won't see my address anymore . I'd love to hear from you , and maybe meet some of you in the area . Best wishes to all ! :-) --Joe ===== joeshenk@yahoo.com My Home Page (Currently on KOSOVO ,etc.) : http://www.geocities.com/capitolhill/congress/8420 ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #748 ***************************
