It would mean a great deal to her if some of us could come together in Austin and show our support. She's very familiar with this list, and the EDA's as a whole. If you're from the Austin area, or within reasonable driving distance, it would be well worth your time to go check out Tara...maybe you can even pick up her CD from an online CD store in the meantime. It won't be on sale in the states till Feb., but was released in Canda in Oct. Most online stores have it, and for sure ones that are located in or near Canada, which is how I got mine. :-) Her first CD, Silence, is available at *most* record stores in the US. Also places like Barnes and Noble (the ones with a music section). Hey EDA's First just wanted to let you all know that I'm ok now my mouth healed already from my surgery!! :-) Anyway I saw Jewel on FOX FAMILY and of course she was beautiful and her voice is beautiful as well, but you could tell it was directly from her cd. She always sings her songs at least a little bit different and there was no mic clipped on her. It was obvious she wasn't holding one. They could have let her sing more than that one song. I was very disappointed by that but oh well what can we do!?! :-) Sammie The Caring Angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 16:20:55 EST From: KT42308@aol.com Subject: * Re: jewel-digest V4 #743 In a message dated 99-12-15 01:08:14 EST, you write: > hanks to JewelRocks, Alan Mr. BB and Mike Connel list manager for bringing > up this show. I saw Jewel this past August and was blown away - she was much better live than I had ever anticipated she would be. There is so much she is putting out musically apart from her studio albums, and if I had never seen her live, I never would have known that. While I was working tonight I thought that the girl on TV looked familiar, and when I moved closer to make sure (I'm nearsighted) they showed a clip from RWTD!!! Unfortunately I only caught the last 60 seconds or so...pity I didn't notice earlier...The end credits showed it to be WWT (World Wide Television) for anyone who cares. It got a 74, which is pretty good, since Wall Of Sound is always harsh in their reviews.. Here's what it says: Jewel Joy: A Holiday Collection Label: Atlantic Genre: Rock, Pop File Under: A Jewel Yule Rating: 74 Alaskan songbird Jewel takes on the holiday season with a selection of classics mixed with a few of her own compositions. She tackles the standards with restrained but skilled enthusiasm, walking down the snowy path of her own interpretations only on a couple of occasions. In Jewel's world, "Winter Wonderland" goes honky-tonk to good effect, with a steel pedal guitar and some of her own trademark yodeling. "Rudolph," on the other hand, becomes a mainly acoustic scatting duet with her mother, Nedra Carroll, that doesn't work nearly as well. Otherwise, she offers pretty straightforward renditions of favorites such as "Silent Night," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and "Joy to the World," most enhanced by the participation of a choir. "O Holy Night" and "Ave Maria" especially show off Jewel's range, where she hits and holds high notes with ease. Her own contributions are hit and miss with regard to capturing the holiday spirit, but most misplaced is the Christmas version of "Hands"; don't look for the carolers to sing that one any time soon. — Kathy Mar ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 19:31:47 EST From: Jwlfan112@aol.com Subject: * Here's Jewel Upcoming TV Schedule Well, this isn't a complete Jewel schedule, it's some reurns and such that RockOnTV.com has listed.. 12/20/99 12:00 am ET; TNT; Christmas In Washington 12/21/99 11:00 pm ET; COM; The Daily Show with John Stewart 12/22/99 12:00 pm ET; COM; The Daily Show with John Stewart 12/22/99 07:00 pm ET; COM; The Daily Show with John Stewart 12/23/99 08:00 pm ET; TNT; Christmas In Washington 12/23/99 08:00 pm ET; MTV; Celebrity Deathmatch 12/23/99 10:00 pm ET; FAM; TSO: The Ghosts of Christmas Eve 12/26/99 12:00 am ET; PBS; Sessions At West 54th 12/29/99 08:00 pm ET; TNN; Merle Haggard: For The Record 12/30/99 12:00 am ET; TNN; Merle Haggard: For The Record Scott Evans http://altern.org/jewellmf AOL, Yahoo!
