Hey Fellow Angels, How's it goin? I haven't been on recently to check any of my email because I have been sick,so i have some information and some questions. Today's Tuesday. Today was the repeat of Storytellers, and i got to see it since i was home sick. I noticed something this time, the she said. When she was talking between songs she mentioned how cards from the EDA's makes her keep going, because sometimes she doesn't feel like continuing. That kinda made me feel good, because you don't normally get a comment like that from a huge superstar, how a group of mailing list people keeps her going. I dunno, I mean it's like kind of a duh, just that she actually said it, is so cool. Right now I'm watching the Fox Family Christmas special. And as usualy Jewel looks fantastic. The music is in part with a story, and it's a great story too. But i'm not going to give the rest away. I have a question. Jewel's sick? oh no. that's not good, if she is she must feel like poop. ugh. alright, g/g..oh but just as a reminder Wednesday, Rosie O'donnell SHow...Jewel will be on, but i'm not sure at the time. It's at 6 here...I live in RHode Island, East Coast in the US. alrighty, talk to ya laterz EDAs! luv ya lots, Michelle *The Polish Angel* "We are not separate from spirit, we are in it" ~ Plotinus "Remember to blah blah blah blah and always get perfect moments stuck between your teeth." ~ Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Dec 1999 22:54:54 EST From: Mika911@aol.com Subject: * Not Very Good! I heard that cover of Leaving on a Jet plane too--it claims to be Jewel, and it would sound like her to someone that wasn't a hardcore fan, I guess..so the mistake is understandable. don't think it's Chantal..it sounds distinctly different--but it's very not Jewel, either. Kinda confused me =) The person sounds like someone that's trying to sing Jewel-ish if that makes any sense. If anyone wants to hear, just email me and I'll send a copy =) Take care, Lori ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Dec 1999 20:04:28 -0800 (PST) From: Cyrus Moonlight Subject: * NJC: My Own Eden hi fellow Jewel fans! It's been so long since I've written to the list (forgive me), hopefully I can get back into the swing of things now that school is letting up on me hehe. Anyway, I want to take a short moment to promote a site I just launched...it's a collection of some poems I wrote, journal entries and other things I felt like I just HAD to get out of my head and do something with...please look around and let me know what you think! Subject: * FOX Family channel show For those of you who missed this tonight...don't miss the repeat airing 12/23 at 10:00pm EST. Although Jewel only sang one song (Hark the Herald Angels Sing), it's still worth watching. It's one of her better performances lately, and for some reason reminded me a little of when she starred in the Wizard of Oz production. I think it may have been just the overall "appearance" of the broadcast...the camera filters, etc. Just seeing her sing being backed up by both a bonified rock band and an orchestra simultaneously, is something in itself. Did anyone recognize the bass player? He's the bass player of the rock band Slaughter! Dana Strum. I didn't recognize any others, but they're all good musicians. I thought the storyline was a bit corny, but it was ok I guess. I wish they had let Jewel do more songs though. So does anyone know how Jewel's been getting these gigs lately? First the TNT performance, now this? Must be good marketing people...I don't know how else she always manages to turn up in the most unusual shows. Derrick ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 01:10:15 -0600 From: "Karacostas, Derrick W." Subject: * NJC: Calling all TX area EDA's! (FREE Tara MacLean shows!) I just received this very cool letter from Nettwerk record company. It's regarding the upcoming "cafe tour" for Tara MacLean. Many of you know her, or have at least heard of her, and some may have even been lucky enough to meet her. She was part of several Lilith Fair shows this year and last. I was first introduced to her in the summer of 1997 from Farr Shepherd. Anyway, the absolutely GREAT news is that she's scheduled to be doing *3* shows 3 nights in a row at a small club called Ruta Maya in Austin, TX. The dates are January 21-23 (Fri-Sun). This will mark the first time Tara has ever been in this region of the country for any type of "regular" concert. She did attend the SXSW conference in Austin a couple years, but that's primarily a media-only event/convention for record company execs and other big people. So really this will be her first regular show! Ever! In the whole state and all the surrounding states. Quite amazing. She's much like Jewel in some ways, singing, acoustic guitar, but also expands musically on her CD's. She's a very talented artist who really deserves alot more airplay in the states. I'm hoping her new CD will bring her that success she deserves. I've already sent a letter to the Tara list about this, but since many EDA's are also on that list, and/or crossover to listening to Tara as well, I thought I'd mention this to this list as well. So what's this all about? Well, I think it would be really cool if some of us got together and all went to the concert (or two or all three!) to show Tara our support...and prove that there are many fans of her's in this area as well! I know for sure there are at least 5 fans from TX on the Tara list, and I'm sure many more on this list. With several EDA's living in and around the Austin area, I think it would be very easy for us to get together about 10 people to all go to the show. I'm planning on making both the Friday and Saturday night shows...and I'm from south of Houston! (Hoping to stay the night with "someone"...haha). Anyway, if anyone might be interested in this very cool event...then e-mail me back so we can get something organized. If nothing else, maybe just a count of who will be going to this. Oh yeah, the best part of all....it's FREE! All 3 nights! You can't ask for anymore. Think about seeing Jewel 4 years ago in a small cafe setting. Well, that's what this will be like. And if Tara becomes popular in the states next year, this could very well be the last time for a long while that we get to see her in such an intimate setting as that of Ruta Maya. Don't pass this chance up if you live anywhere within 6 hours driving time of Austin! Maybe even further away. I know I'd drive 10 hours if I had to. You can check out a good website about her to learn more for those who aren't familiar with her music or style. Here's the address.... http://w3.gwis.com/~spl/tara/ Let's all get together and show Tara our support! She's truly one the nicest down to earth people you'll ever meet. I've never even met her, but I can honestly say this. So many others have ALL said the same thing. Those who HAVE met her! Watching a few of her TV performances (all Canadian) really convinced me of this too. She's so nice. I'm still in shock over this announcement by Nettwerk. Then again, I've been waiting over 2 1/2 years for this time to come! Maybe the longest current running total on the Tara list. So anyone interested in this....(Luna, Tessa, Amias, Lindsey, Tien, Farr, Rowdy, Amber, Mindi, Dennis?, Amy?) and all the others I left out....you know who you are....e-mail me if you think you'd be interested in going to this. Any free show is worth it in my opinion, and to be getting to see Tara for free, in this setting, is beyond what words can describe. Think Jewel/Innerchange Coffeehouse/Free/3 nights in a row...and you'll be close to the concept of this. Thanks, Derrick Here's the letter from Nettwerk.... - ----------------------- Hello everyone... Tara MacLean will begin the new millennium and the year 2000 with a café tour in the U.S., performing in smaller, more intimate venues, and in some cases, for free! The tour will be in support of her new album 'Passenger', which will be coming out on *Tuesday, February 29th* in the United States on Capitol Records! I'm Melissa, and I live in WA, Australia. I'm in year 7, and I'm graduating tommorow! I've been going to the same primary school my entire life, which is gonna suck, because only 2 other poeple are going to the same high school as me. I wouldn't say I'm really popular, I'm included in the cool group, but not really on weekends and stuff, just at school. I'm one of the smartest people in my school, and most people expect me to get DUX of the school. I like winning all english and maths competitions, and that sort of thing, but I hate the pressure, if I don't get top of the class, no matter how good my score was, the teacher is disappointed, and I'm apparently not applying myself. My best friend is nice, but we like completely different sorts of people, so if other people are with us, one of us ignores them. Besides her, I run with the cool group, and she doesn't like them, so it gets hard. I've liked Jewel for around 3 years now, but I've never seen her live, I'm still waiting for her to visit. Jewel has affected my life so much, its hard to believe one person can do it. Many of the choices are make are reflected on her lyrics, and her songs have gotten my through my parents divorce, my grandfather dying, annd so many other hard times. If she ever stopped singing, I don't know what I would do.
