Today's Subjects: ----------------- * Life Uncommon Jewel home-video review [Phillip Jacques Subject: * Life Uncommon Jewel home-video review I received my copy of Life Uncommon via FedEx today, and I must say that the J-Team outdid themselves with this release. After all of the hype by those that had seen it, I was afraid that the video might not live up to the high expectations I had built up, but it ended up greatly surpassing them. The rare footage of Jewel from Java Joes and other smaller shows was great because it gave the fans some idea of what she faced early on in her career and also gave them a chance to view some of her more intimate performances. The live songs from the Higher Ground for Humanity performance at the Henry Fonda Theater were just as great as I remember them, because I was there. As a matter of fact, I make an appearence early in the video when they are panning the crowd outside of the venue. I have now been immortalized on the same tape as Jewel for life!! :) Anyway, the highlights in my mind were the behind-the-scenes footage, especially Jewel's discussion of yodelling while driving around in her car, and the footage of Jewel actually putting together the music and lyrics for Last Dance Rodeo in a hotel room. In addition, the footage of Poltz playing part of an unfinished song that he and Jewel wrote together was great as well, and I hope that Jewel listens to him and revisits the song and finishes it, because it's beautiful. To sum it all up, the tape is a must-buy if you are even a mild fan of Jewel, but since you are all on this list, you go far beyond that. You should be ashamed if you don't pick it up the minute you see it or if you haven't already ordered it from the J-Merch store, because I learned more about Jewel in 60 minutes then I had in my whole life. The video delves deeper than just her fame and exposes the wonderful person that she is underneath all of that, and it really is a must-see. BUY IT!! If you read Alan's post closely, he suggested we keep it simple. How many of us are there? I think this would have to be an extremely large card. Does anyone really have the time for that right now? For people in school, tests and papers are coming up, and everyone else has to deal with work and getting prepared for the holidays. I think we should have one card with one message. If you want to send a personal message, there are ways to do that. Maybe we could send those somewhere where Jewel would be sure to get them and know that they were from EDAS. Just my thoughts. - -Kerri my homepage: http://www.Angelfire.com/ny3/dancingangel "But don't wander too far, My one constant star, Darkness exists, except where you are, My feet are filled with wandering, They follow your own, 'Cause everywhere you are feels like home." -Jewel, Last Dance Rodeo ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Nov 1999 22:46:29 -0600 From: "Chris M. Lang" Subject: * re: re:chris's idea - Design of Card Hey Trixy and everyone else... I'm not trying to take control of anything... I'm trying to organize things. I'm not going to solely design the card or anything like that. All I was doing was voluntering my time to collect any design submissions and get them out there on a website for you guys to vote on! Forgive me if I didn't communicate this properly. I've had a few emails like this: "whoa,,,,who made u boss." - from Trixy And I've had some that say thanks for stepping up to the plate! Let's not forget the idea here, thanking Jewel and contributing/vountering ourselves, in any way possible, to HGH. So again, I'm not 'the boss' or taking control, just simply trying to organize the process. I encourage someone else to step up and organize the writing process. Then we can put things out there for the EDAs to vote on. Until I hear from Alan on any other plans, I'll continue to take submissons and ideas. Thanks EDAs!
