I've been a Jewel fan for about five years now, and I've been wanting to be an EDA for as long as I can remember. I lived with my step-dad, though, and he would not hear of it. But now that my parents are getting a divorce, I don't have to put up with his ridiculous rules. To tell you a little more about myself , I'm 16 and I live in Texas. I love dancing ( all kinds - jazz, ballet, tap, swing) and writing ( all kinds also- poetry, features for the school paper, etc.). Jewel has been an inspiration to me in so many ways, as I know she has been to many of you. What can I say? There's just this Truth about her that's very comforting. Well, I guess that's enough for now. I don't want to bore anybody. Sorry if I already did:) If anyone wants to email me my address is twinkletoes131@cs.com. Thanx everyone;) ~ Sari~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Nov 1999 17:33:00 +1100 From: "Jennifer" Subject: * you may need my web site's address I'm always leaving that out! And That is the ONE SONG that I wanted to perform...I have a while before I have to perform it but it's good to have your act solid! I just got back from best buy!! The CD is AWESOME!!! I love it sooo much!!! And...I dunno if anyone mentioned it but I didn't know it came with a video of Jewel recording the song called GLORIA! That was super awesome! =) Anyway, just wanted to say I got it and stuff. Also, I think that this cd should be with all of Jewel OTHER cds... It was under "Holiday favorites" and It took me a hard time finding it. I had to ask 2 workers there. But I did, and I'm glad I did. Puts me in the christmas-y mood... I would love the holidays if my fam wasn't the way it was (maybe some of you know what I'm talking about) Ok, I better go before I bore all of you!! Talk to you laters! First of all, I saw Ride with the devil tonight, it was so great! The reason that I say this is because by the end, I really forgot that it was Jewel ACTING out the part...which = GOOD FLICK. OF course she was amazing, and to be honest I wasn't so sure if she would be and a lot of critics it seems, said the same, but she really impressed me. It was a really good movie, good plot, and OH MY GOD TOBEY MCGUIRE!!! OH MY GOD IS HE ADORABLE!!! Jewel fit right in with the cast, at first it was wierd but I was like so engrossed in the plot that I kinda forgot it was her. THere is this scene though that they show her breast-feeding, and I thought that was a liitle wierd...like, ITS JEWEL, I DONT WANT TO SEE HER NAKED! SHE DOESNT HAVE SEX, SHE DOESNT EVEN GO TO THE BATHROOM...SHE'S JEWEL. But it was ok I guess, just a little shocking to see her so, EXPOSED.(not a big deal though...If anyone writes to me on this in a critical way...DONT... cause Im not trying to start an issue) SO, my opinion, EXCELLENT MOVIE, EXCELLENT ACTING> YAY JEWEL!!! #2 I FORGOT TO HAVE MY PARENTS TAPE TRL! GRRRRRRRRR. My ghetto school doestn get MTV, SO i missed it!! can anyone help me??? I have almost everything for the past 2 years or so on video, and I have some food for you little varmints (sp?) if anyone wants to trade. Don't worry, nothing happened to her. WSIT is a very stimulating video ;) All I've gotta say is (in Butthead voice) Uuhh, woe! :-P I hope it gets MTV airplay alot. IMO, I think the single isn't gonna do as well as the video. Its got that laid back feel like Poltzies 'Everything About You'. I still cheer in my car whenever the radio plays Poltzie. hehe. It was weird how they just decided to stick Jewel in the pre-KornTV hour. Fortunately, the crowd was polite enough for a little Q&A with Carson. I got the 'Life Uncommon' video yesterday(Thursday). Two days after its release! Woo-Hoo! I can't say enough about it. Its REALLY good. Bibi and West did such a good job, I hope another video comes out in the next year and maybe focuses on more specifics than a 6 year recap. I'm not saying a recap is bad, its kinda cool. I don't want to give anything away, so go ahead and spent the $26 US dollars(thats w/ shipping&handling) and order the tape from the JewelJK site. Somehow, someway, it'll get to you international EDAs :-). Cross your fingers! I missed out on the AOL thing. Sounds like I didn't miss much :-P. It would be great if somebody could post the transcript for all those people-like me- that weren't there. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Nov 1999 03:22:45 -0800 (PST) From: Tyler cusick Subject: * clarification I certainly don't want to convey the feeling that Jewel was not beautiful in the scene aforementioned, rather it was a plain persona she displayed as opposed to her simplicitys glamor. you know the basic outfits, ever earthy to some extent, yet well fitted to her personality as well as her figure. oh and to finish the review I liked the orchestration as it bodes well with Jewels opera natural voice.lots of love Angels, Deity angels source ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Nov 1999 05:02:59 PST From: "Jeremy Hodgins" Subject: * WSIT in Australia? Hi Guys, After Jewel's non-show at the RWTD premier in London, it has occured to me that maybe she doesn't like Britain. Other things that lead me to this conclusion is the lack of effort put into promotion here, and something I read in a Rolling Stone interview about promoting in Europe, especially European Journalists. In any of her interviews has she said anything on this topic? What does everyone think? as I'm worried she'll disaprear into thin air here soon. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Nov 1999 11:46:44 EST From: Sabato229@aol.com Subject: * US magazine I got my "US" mag December '99 issue and Jewel is mentioned. Her is the article with a pic of her, Tobey & Skeet from the Toronto Film Festival. On the cover it says.... Jewel's Movie Debut on Page30(? pages aren't marked so I guessed & it's 1/2 page) Screen Gem :Jewel Shines In Her Movie Debut First-time actress Jewel was at a bit of a disadvantage while filming this month's Civil War drama "Ride With the Devil", in which she plays a Southern widow who finds love again. "Ang [Lee, the director] kept saying, 'Hit your mark,' " she says. "I didn't know what he meant. I thought it was some emotional thing. He finally explained that it was an actual mark on the ground. I was like, 'Ohhhh.' " But co-stars Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich didn't hold it against the singer. They were too busy trying to stay on their horses, while Jewel, who practically grew up on horse- back, was stuck riding a mule. "I can't show my face around my father now," she says. That would be alot of money, >and perhaps also the encouragment Jewel might be needing. She >has given us so much, maybe we should give back. Just a thought, >E-mail me or put up a message saying what you think and if you >would be a part of it... I support this idea & your list-owner Mike tells me that many are writing in support of Louise's idea. If there is general interest in getting behind another major list project for the holidays, I think I can help everyone who'd like to participate. I had a good discussion about this idea with Shane Kilcher (Jewel's brother & HGH/Clearwater management) & of course HGH would love to have EDA support like this & we all agree that Jewel would be thrilled by such a gift! So here's a few suggestions that may help get this idea off the ground. I see 2 major areas that would need attention. They are: 1) Collection & tallying of all EDA contributions to HGH 2) Creating a LARGE Christmas card to Jewel from all the EDAs that participate & writing a message to her explaining this "giving back" idea. Then getting this card to her on Christmas. As most of you hopefully know, anyone can make a donation to HGH at their website, but since I think most see this as a great potential "list project", it would be nice to keep track of EDA contribution totals. Mike mentioned that several people have already volunteered to collect the contributions, but I think we can be directly helpful with that. Here's what Shane & I discussed a bit. We thought that maybe we could begin an HGH/EDA project together. A major current focus of HGH is the Clearwater Project. Although they are currently working at improving living conditions at two locations in Mexico & one in Bangla Desh, they want to add a fourth location, possibly in rural Alaska or one of several locations within the U.S. I thought perhaps the EDAs would like to "adopt" this next location. Does this seem like an idea that could fly on the list? I think so & I think it can easily extend past the initial idea of "Jewel's holiday gift", yet begin as that, since it's perfect timing. What we could do to facilitate the ease of contributing would be to set up a mailing address specifically for the HGH/EDA project. Then everyone who wishes to contribute can mail the contribution to HGH/EDA Project, etc & the HGH Staff could keep those contributions seperate for this project & keep a tally on current EDA totals. I can keep an ongoing list of all the names contributing & all those names could be added to Jewel's Christmas Card. We would highly suggest that ONE big card be designed as apposed to doing yet another "book of EDA messages". We'd prefer to see the EDAs designate an EDA team to create the card & write up a thoughtful message to Jewel explaining how you wanted to "give something back" to her in this manner. I'm not trying to trample anyone writing Jewel messages, but thats not the focus of this project, & I think its important to keep such a potentially huge project logistically simple. I can certainly get the list of all EDA contributer names from HGH & get them to the "EDA card design team". So in that way, everyone's name can be included on the card. I'm sure Jewel would be extremely happy to get a gift like this from the EDAs for Christmas & I can make sure she does recieve the EDA card, message & list of names personally. So....what do ya think? Please let me know if this project is indeed what The EDAs would like to pursue. As Louise said, "What if every single EDA send $5(or more) to HGH in a christmas card addressed to Jewel?". I can answer that! If that actually happened, the EDAs would be well on the way to setting up a clean water system that would dramatically improve living conditions for an entire community in thier adopted location. If the EDAs want to pursue this, I'll do whatever I can to help & we'll make it procedurally workable on our end. I'll be watching the list so no need to reply just to me. I'll be chatting with Shane & HGH staff again on Wednesday & would appreciate if a general consensus on this idea could be relayed to them by then. Is that possible? Please discuss ON THE LIST. When I see things like this, it reminds me once again, that the EDAs are amazing! Alan PS. Please visit the HGH & Clearwater websites to educate yourself more about their projects.
