HÅLO Ångels! I just watched Jewel on Jay and she was great! I love the way she sings in that baby voice & makes the baby faces, it's sooo cute!!! I also adore the way she dances in that smooth slow way. = ) Her eyes looked a little sad when she was singing, almost like she had been crying. (Wonder Why?) She looked absolutely beautiful singing 'What's Simple Is True' wearing all black. If it matters she had on like knee length books & a knee length skirt & this shirt, I can't remember if it was long sleeve or elbow length. Oh yah & her cute little belly was showing. :giggle: She only talked for what seemed like 30 seconds. He asked about her being a rapper when she 1st started and how she was just homeless 6 yrs ago. ( I'm not sure if that's the correct # ) She also mentioned Detroit! Ok well I think that's it. I was so excited to see her & I cant wait to get that single. Btw this is my 1st post. Yaay 4 me! For all those attending SLAMfest and the gathering Saturday, here's faster directions to UCONN. Woody the plywood cow should feel right at home. Storrs (where UCONN is located) is a cow town, and the farm is right next to the club! Maybe we can rope a REAL cow. Now saying Woody isn't real of course :) 91 to I-84 East I-84 East to Exit 68 Take right off exit onto Rt. 195 Go about 2 miles. Look for plaza with "Store 24" on left. Husky Blues is in the rear of that building. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Oct 1999 09:13:27 -0400 From: "Kelli Coppens" Subject: * Jewel on Leno-get some sleep!! Hey Angels, I think she sang "what simple is true" SO beautifully. But, ugh, poor Jewel looks like she has done a whole lot more eating than sleeping lately!!! I CANNOT believe she wore that cropped shirt that let her belly literally HANG over her skirt!! I mean, if you are gaining so much weight like that, DONT show it off in cropped shirts!!! C'mon Jewel, wear something flattering that doesnt pull our eyes to it! I always will love Jewel but lets just be honest here, she looked terrible last night and that is something I think a lot of EDA's are afraid to be honest about on this list. Her face looked worn and just so tired. WSIT is a great song and to me it sounded just like the cd version but live so all the people worred about jewel remaking it still sounds great! It was the best show! I hope you all got to see it. "WHAT'S SIMPLE IS TRUE" is such a lovely song! She sang it with such heart! It was great to see Jewel sans a ton of eye make-up as well. I knew that there was something different about her the minute I laid eyes on her. IMO, she looks better without the make-up! Great performance. My only negative remark, is that jay could have talked about the film instead of the rap story. I'll be that old dishevelled guy >lurking about. Come up & say hi if you're there! I don't know -- "old dishevelled guy"? Hmmm, maybe. I still like "mischievous garden gnome" as a more accurate description of Alan, though... ;-) But, if he wants to be the "old dishevelled guy", "old dishevelled guy" it is. Except I highly recommend the once-required list trademarking, ie: Alan Bershaw, old dishevelled guy (tm) But in addition to us "old dishevelled guys" (generic use this time), there will be a LOT of twenty-somethings at the SLAM Fest UConn benefit show for The EveryDay Angels Foundation Saturday night! The Husky Blues is the campus hangout, and with a half dozen or so bands playing, there should be something for all musical tastes. We are also getting together at Mike Vardal's before the show for lunch and an afternoon EDA gathering. If you're in the area, it's a great chance to meet EDAs face to face, maybe rope something and catch some great music. Mike has offered to put up as many EDAs as possible at his place after the show Saturday night, too. So, that means breakfast the next morning, which with this group is an event in itself... :-) If you'd like to join us Saturday afternoon or have any questions, send me an email at harrisbros@aol.com and I'll set you up (ominous sounding, eh?) -- just do it before 9 AM Saturday morning as I'll be on the road chauffeuring EDAs after that time. If you're interested in going to the concert, here are the details one last time: ***** INFO ABOUT SLAM FEST ***** This weekend is SLAMfest, a benefit concert being held for the EveryDay Angels Foundation! Join us at the UConn campus Husky Blues club on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 pm in Storrs, CT for over six hours of music! The event is being sponsored by Mike Vardal and S.L.A.M. (Support for Local Artists and Musicians). The bands donating their talents to this exciting event are mostly alternative and should provide for an enjoyable evening! Pleasurecrush, who has opened for national acts Live, Helmet and the Scorpions, will join a lineup including The Flames, Janie Superstar, Andrea LaFazia, Renata, Trag and Lorenjishift. We appreciate the support from S.L.A.M. and these local independent bands, and hope to participate in similar future events. The tickets are $10 at the door, or $8 with a UConn ID or EDAF membership card. The venue serves alcohol, so this is an 18 and over event. The show starts at 6:30 PM and runs until around 1:00 AM. DIRECTIONS to Husky Blues (UCONN campus) in Storrs, CT: Take 91 to I-84 East. Continue on I-84 East to Rte 384 East. At the end of Rte 384, veer left onto Rte 44. Go 10 Miles to intersection of Rtes 44 and 195. Turn right onto Rte 195. Go about 2 miles. Look for a plaza with "Store 24" on the left. The Husky Blues is in the rear of that building. The club's phone number is (860) 429-2587. *************************** See y'all there! It still doesn't show up on the lists command from majordomo@smoe.org, but he said he was going to fix that soon. So here's the correct info to get on the new home of the Sarah McLachlan list: Send an email to majordomo@smoe.org with the following line in the body of the email: subscribe fumbling-towards-esctasy I don't know if any digest lists have been setup yet, since I just subscribe to the normal list, but I'm sure he'll have the info up soon. The radio station has a something called cruise it or lose it, if people don't like the song, they call and say lose it, and if they like it they say cruise it. Well, WSIT got 100% cruise it. I love this radio station, they play Jupiter all the time, it has one of the highest spins a week. And the radio version sounded almost exactly like the album version to me.
