I say, just because Jewel capitalizes on being a pretty, voluptuous blonde sex symbol doesn't mean her music isn't good or that she isn't intelligent. The Indigo Girls are really natural, authentic women who don't use their sex appeal to promote their music (at least not to the heterosexual world), and thus haven't attracted as much support. They are wonderful musicians, but you can't call Jewel a sell-out or a bimbo just because she dresses like one a lot or sometimes plays to the lowest as well as the highest common denominators...Some people don't give Jewel a chance because they brush her off as being another cheezy blonde who probably has no talent...and it's too bad, 'cause they're missing out... > >RAY:women tend to judge other women in many of the >ways that maybe men judge women. For the 5 brave souls from the So. Cal list(Jason, Sonja, Tony, Maddy, and myself) we had a TRASH TRUCK full OF FUN this weekend! :D Not only, did we get to go watch Jen and Mike(Sweet Duration) friend band named Fringe till 1 o'clock in the morning, we got to see Jewel show the bird to a bean throwing fan, and bitch to the sound guy too, eat at a really classy resturant on fishermans warf called Alioto's( I think thats it) I can't think of anything else right now, but don't worry there will be more specifics once our body time-clocks get back into the swing of things. Bye for now. Comotose Guitar playin Angel Alex BTW- I got plenty of double takes from locals when I told them I'm from San Diego. Oh, and does anyone know if i would still be able to get a copy of bit's and babbles at target, because i'm going to be near a store this saturday. So, DSL and Sunny Came Home are similar. If people werer that picky about copyright infringment, the world's greatest songwriter- Bob Dylan- would have been slapped with suits years ago. Wel, he was, but he's never lost a copyright related suit. The C, C/B, Am, Am/g, F progression is very common. It's a descending bass-line that can be found in any number of songs. Especially, today, in this litigious society, Atlantic would have explored the "liability" of the song before it was released. I think i can say that Jewel's voice at the CMA awards was once again very special. She really can touch us with her voice, and i think Vince Gill appreciated that Jewel was on the festival as well. I think a countrish album with songs like Cowboy waltz and more of those songs would really do Jewel only good. She was sweet, and Merle Haggard was fun . I wished although for a little conversation, but that could't be that way. Tonight on the BBC 2 TV Jools Holland will present the highlights, i think Jewel will be featured on his choice once again! So tune in European fans of Jewel at 22.00 pm gmt for That's way love goes. I hope that we can listen to the new cd of Jewel Joy, a holiday soon! There's a lot of thing being said on Jewel. Just look, and notice that Mike & Alan no longer comment some of the hoax (?) posted here. Everytime someone talk about Jewel, there's someone to hear it in another way. I don't really think this would be serious. Anyway, some people as I read, and I, saw Jewel more than friendly with Steve in backstage of her concerts. This would be a clue. ;) No comment. I see your point, but I never said that these terrible things don't happen every day and that we should close our eyes to it. I am far from ignorant when it comes to the suffering of animals. I just didn't think it was appropriate for this company to imply that their product was more important than the lives of the animals and apparently I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Now, about the leather, etc. I, like Jewel, am not a vegetarian, I own things made of leather, but I do love animals and I believe in standing up for them when their suffering is unnecessary or made fun of as this add did. And I totally agree with you in admiring how honest Jewel is. And I also admire how she stands up for a cause she believes in. For her it is the earth and humanity, for me it's animals' rights, so when it comes to that, I'll do what I can. Oh, I hope you'll see some good in the truth; it doesn't always suck.
