It was a very hot day in San Francisco, and the festival started at 12:00pm, but Jewel didn't perform until around 4 o'clock. The other bands, which included Cake, didn't impress me at all, but Jewel was once again amazing. Her setlist was shorter than those of her Spirit Tour performances (I attended her Bakersfield show), but it was still unbelievable. She looked gorgeous as usual, and was dressed very comfortably. Because Jewel didn't have her usual sound equipment, she was having technical difficulties with her in-ear audio piece being to distorted, therefore throwing her off. She forgot the words to Foolish Games, which was amuzing, but the audience helped her remember them. Overall, Jewel put on a awesome performance, but I wish I could have been better prepared for the heat. Did any other EDA's attend the Festival? Anyway, I hope all of you have a great day/night. I have missed a lot of mail over the almost 3 years I've been on this list, but last night I had just gotten in the car after a party at a friends house and I heard what at first I thought was Down So Long but in a different key I thought. Anyway, after a few seconds I realized it was not DSL but something else....this was already I guess halfway into the song. Anyway, when the vocals started up again, I knew it wasn't Jewel because it was a guy. First I thought it sounded like Bob Dylan, then as it hit the chorus I realized it was Tom Petty's "Last Dance With Mary Jane"!!!!! I haven't heard that song in a few years so I guess I never realized, but the guitar part in at least some sections of that song sounded like the guitar part in Down So Long! Has anyone else noticed this? I think that was the original version of the Tom Petty song so I don't think he could have copied from her. What I wanted to know was does anybody out there have any tips for getting good seats besides "call early, call often." If you don't feel like posting to the list please e-mail me privately. I thank you in advance for any help. --rjc ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #581 ***************************
