First, Jewel did NOT perform Bononcini's "Per la gloria d'adorarvi" at Sessions. She did perform her own composition "Gloria", which is what the original poster enjoyed so much. Completely different song. This is the one & only time where she performed this piece live so far. On the tour this year, Jewel did on several occasions (including Indiana) perform the Bononcini aria "Per la gloria d'adorarvi". If you'd like to know where, all the setlists from this year are on Jewel's website. Here's a post I sent last week explaining the difference between these two pieces of music. It seems almost everyone is confused about this. Subj: Gloria (Latin Song) vs. Per la gloria d'adorarvi Date: MondaySatSeptember 121312199998 3:15:50 PM Hi all, I recieved a question asking if the two Jewel songs that have "gloria" in the title are the same song. Good question! No, they are two completely different songs & are even in two different languages, hehe... "Per la gloria d'adorarvi" is an operatic piece Jewel learned at Interlochen. She's performed it only a few times over the past few years. It's an aria from the opera "Griselda" by Giovanni Bononcini. In Italian, of course. "Gloria" is a song Jewel wrote in Latin & up until recently was known as "Latin Song". This was written & recorded for the "Spirit" sessions but wasn't used. Jewel recently recorded it again for the holiday album & it will be included on that. So...that's that. I should also add that neither of these pieces should be confused with Monteverdi's "Lasciatemi Morrire", another aria she occasionally enjoys singing at shows. Wow, I never dreamed I'd actually be commenting, let alone straightening out confusion about opera. I think I'll go crank up some old Butthole Surfers album now. ;-) Alan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 21:08:03 EDT From: CaitAdaire@aol.com Subject: * Pictures Does anyone ahve pics of Ty? whats his last name? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Sep 1999 18:28:47 EDT From: JeWeLzKeWL@aol.com Subject: * Free Angelfood Contest? Hi Angels, I'm pretty sure there isn't one, but today as I put on my Everyday Angels t-shirt (thanks Rich Long, it's a great design) a degree of proudness came over me for being an everyday angel I guess or something. Anyway, I was thinking that we should have an Everyday Angel Month or Day each year where we try to put our most effort into, where blue ribbons wherever we go etc. I know we are angels everyday, but that doesn't mean there can't be a specific month or day that we put our efforts into greatly (individually from donating money, time, and ideas to positive things we support). Any comments? Mika Don't forget to vote for Jewel so that she will get on Friday Night on NBC next week!
