I am happy that Jewel is an inspiration to you and to everyone who really listens to her music and words....but, as far as the commercial goes, it may be blatantly insensitive yet it is reality. I am wearing Doc Martins which are the dyed flesh of a cow, I have a leather belt on and a leather wallet. The chemicals the cotton plants puke out into the environment is because of the blue jeans and black t-shirt that I am wearing. Jewel is an inspiration to me in that she is honest and real...I would rather have the truth than live in blessed ignorance...because after all...the truth usually sucks. jack the bipolar angel :) :( ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 1999 16:23:22 PDT From: "Matt Sullivan" Subject: * Jewel Spirit Tour Pics Please e-mail if u know websites with pics from the tour. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Sep 1999 19:49:07 EDT From: Poet2811@aol.com Subject: * Re: why are we so critical?? I have to say that I completely agree with Shannon on this one when she said "Why do we, the EDAs...the people who supposedly love Jewel so much...say such negative things about her? I, personally, think everyone has the right to think what they want about her performances. But, why are people being so darned critical about the way she looks...especially something as silly as her tiny belly" What is your problem?? I mean lets not get carried away with how much we criticize her. It's one thing to criticize her music in a constructive way... But who are we to judge her and her tummy?? We are lowly fans who decided to get e-mails every day about her- nothing more.... (maybe more, but not in respect of her weight or personal life) I mean come on people!!!!! So far I have been on the list for a few months and some of the things supposed fans that are supposed to be the supportive ones have said some HORRIBLE things, like commenting on her weight at some awards show. I mean- lets not forget you have to account lights and the camera also adds weight. What are we doing here?? We love her for her music- not her weight. And another thing- so what if she is a little heavy (I didn't see so I don't know....). If we as a group are going to do this to her, then she would be better off with out our support. (In the process, I noticed many transcriptions were missing on the lowend site which has also been updated.) So...now on both low-end & high-end versions of www.jeweljk.com, you can now find the real transcriptions to "Angel" (aka Cowboy Waltz) and "Does Anyone Believe In Love Anymore?" Enjoy! I recently accquired a live recording of "Tiny love spaces" And I was wondering where that recording took place. I was particularly interrested because there was this small part at the beginning of the song where Jewel was having a little casual chat with the audience. As she was going through the guitar intro, love that guitar riff btw! she was briefly interrupted by someone who I think yelled "I love you!" she got distracted and blotched a chord, so she stopped to see who it was and realizing that the person was frantically apologizing for interrupting, she said, "don't be sorry, I loved it!" by now the audience was really laughing! she then re-did the intro only to stop again and say that she was acctually doing a recording that night and that song will be included on her new album. And when she got the entire audience to stay silent, she went on to say that she was, in fact only kidding. it was really funny! she then blew everybody away with a stellar performance. I guess thats just Jewel being her usual fun, freespirited self! So, does anyone know where this little anecdote took place? as for anyone who hasn't heard the recording, I think you should, its really really funny! cya people! and greetings to all the peeps at the sea_edas mailing list! As Abigail stated: when singing or doing anything that includes lots of breathing skills musically, breathing from the diaphram helps to project sound and help you well...sustain and sing longer...So, i doubt, too, that Jewel is pregnant. When I play clarinet, my tummy puffs out a little. I had to sit in front of a mirror and see what my stomach is really capable of looking like (FOR 2 WHOLE, AGONIZING HOURS)! Haha, i doubt she likes how it looks, too. But hey, it's HUMAN NATURE and is the most natural form of breathing instead of sucking in your belly! (if any of you are ballet dancers, you'll know what i'm talking about!) So, my dear angels, Calm yourselves! it's probably just her diaphram! If I see one more subject line or read one more line with the word pregnant or tummy in it I swear I think I'm going to kill someone. I'm so fed up with this. Geez, I know many of you have been looking at the positive aspects for the past few performances; sessions and CMA. I know everyone has a right to their own opinion but please If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it. I've had a long day, and I usually don't even post, but I'm only human, I can't stand anymore. Please, just play your favorite Jewel song and think NICE thoughts. Listen to her voice, the emotion she put into every song. How can you find any fault. Sorry, it's been a long day. I saw Jewel TV on MTVasia and there was a someone from the audience who said she was from the every day angels foundation(EDAF) and she said that the group was a volunteeer organization. I'm interested because we also have a group here in the Philippines called NES (nature explorers society) which is a non prifit organization that supports environmental causes and our work is mainly on education and environmental awareness. I was wondering how I could get in touch with the EDAF because most of us are also huge Jewel fans! We are currently doing clean-ups of most trekking peaks that are accessible to us. We also have future plans for reef clean-ups along nearby coastlines but that is yet to be finalized. Btw, the person I saw on Jewel tv was someone named Amy, I belive. Is she part of the eda mailing list? just wondering. well, bye everyone! So she releases a country album or some country music. Or heaven forbid gets a twang in her voice. ;o) Big deal. I love Jewels music and if she wants to try out new stuff great. I'll give it a listen. But I won't call myself hypocritical and wrong because I don't happen to like that "type" of music. It's just a label people have chosen to give music. I will give all of Jewels music a fair listening to. I may or may not like it, but I won't judge it before I've heard it based on a label.
