She puts such passion into every song. Did anyone else notice she made a mistake in the song "Fall On your Knees." I wonder why she didn't sing it over. The conductor and Jewel exchanged confused looks in one part of that song. Well, regarding the "Harris Gallery" thing. I guess I was part of it. Jewel was sooo cool. We were the only section she actually talked to. With a few crazed fans in that area,(including myself) we seemed to be the noisiest. The only bad thing was when Jewel called us retarded. But she apologized with an "I love you that way." I think she said that so she wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. I was such an idiot and yelled the first thing that came to my mind.(out of shock) "You've inspired us to be retarded" I was only kidding. But Jewel was like "What did you say" And acting like an even bigger idiot I yelled it again. She just looked away and said "I'm just going to ignore that comment." Other wise I had a very good time and Jewel was amazing. BRAVO to Faerie Squishe's post RE: Sessions NOT sucking. I agree with your sentiments exactly. I was there too and was so thrilled to just be in a relatively small room, listening to Jewel's incredible voice. I found it to be an extremely surreal and spiritual experience. Yeah, it would have been great to have the opportunity to interact with Jewel, but hey, just be thankful to have been there, seen her and heard her live. And, it was FREE!! I think a lot of you are forgeting that yes, she may be a "celebrity", but bottom line, she is a human being like the rest of us, and is not in anyway obligated to her fans. Anything extra is a bonus. For those of you not there, Jewel looked great (but tired), sounded phenomenal, and it was an incredible experience-don't let anyone tell you anything different!! Hey EDA's I haven't posted too many times and I was just wondering if anyone on the list knows what kind of guitar Jewel uses to play on during her Spirit Tour this year. Jewel's voice sounded beautiful on the Christmas songs, and I found the arrangements to be very tastefully done. I admit I was disappointed when I first heard she was releasing a Christmas album that would have only two new songs, as it seems everyone releases a Christmas album and I would so much rather hear originals; however, I did enjoy her versions and the accompaniment. The duets with Nedra were lovely, and Jewel's voice was incredibly powerful and strong, as usual. I also enjoyed the gospel-tinged Life Uncommon, and did not mind the repeats. My highlight was the last four acoustic numbers, as my favorite music is pure voice and acoustic, and especially the latter two (SIBTW and Grey Matter). The more I hear GM the more I like it. Jewel was very funny and endearing during takes...she just has so much charisma and charm. The only thing that annoys me is her baby voice that she uses when she seems like she might be a little nervous or uncomfortable...(Nedra doesn't have a baby voice, I don't know where she got it from), but otherwise I was fascinated to watch Jewel from so close up and feel the power of her presence. From behind, it wasn't as powerful (I would have loved to be sitting right in front of her), but as I got there late and hadn't planned on going before that day, I could not complain. I did watch her on the monitor close-up, and am always mesmerized by her facial expressions and stunning attractiveness. Nedra was lovely and looked radiant. I also really enjoyed seeing her talk and banter a tiny bit between takes. I admire her discipline and patience at what she does. (I love to sing, but do it purely for pleasure, and have little discipline). After the show I saw her and her mom in the limo talking to Arif Marden, and noticed a few zealous fans hovering behind with their copies of poetry books hoping to get signed. I couldn't help but think, Thank god I'm not famous...all the scrutiny, people bothering you, etc. It's a real trade-off... In any case, I enjoyed myself and hope to see Jewel again soon in an intimate setting (HGH Benefit in NYC, perhaps? That would be spectacular if I were able to attend that...) Sorry for the rambling. Good night! Amy ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #560 ***************************
