Hey EDA's, Well, as the date of August 28th comes closer(and the threat of Hurricanes/torrential rain approaches- *gulp!*), I have a few questions that need answering. For starters, for a concert that starts at 7PM, if you want to try to catch a moment with Jewel, what is the best time to arrive? Also, what are the chances of meeting Jewel? There were lots of instances in Europe's where people met her, but the circumstances there are much different than over here: Less people know of her; security was (supposedly)not as tight. Then there is the question of getting a camera past the gate without it getting discovered. Any tricks that you care to share, fellow friends? Lastly, do they let you in for the Soundcheck, and if so, what time is the S/C normally? Thanks Alex, the Scottish Angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 21:03:33 EDT From: SpiritEDA@aol.com Subject: * an idea Hi! I am a great fan of Jewel `s and have just found out about this mailing list, it is great! Anyway I would love to meet some of you people. I think That EDAs from different cities should get together on a regular basis (like once a month or once every two months). There are a lot of us and we could really make a difference in the world. Some of my suggestions are that we get together to volunteer our time to people who need us. We could start a program of course to represent our love for Jewel by going out and helping others. Any kind of community service. Also another idea would be for us to get together and share some of our own work. I `m sure that there are jewel fans that love to sing and write poems. Wouldn't it be great if we could share our work with eachother? I understand that all of us can `t get together considering the fact that we all live so far apart but we could organize small groups in each city to get together just for the fun of it, or to do community service or even to share our work with each other. Anyway it was just a thought. I live in Tampa so if anyone near me wants to do this e-mail me my address is SpiritEDA@aol.com and if you don`t live by me find people that live by you and get together! Katie:) P.S. What is angelfood? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 18:56:44 -0700 (PDT) From: Jeff Subject: * Angelfood Trades/New Site: Veterans & Newbies Welcome Hi all, It's been a while but I'm back. Looking to do some trades and/or help out some newbies with their Angelfood collection. I have a new website up, it's a bit crude, but I only put it up yesterday. Included is a list of my Angelfood tapes, so stop by! Any suggestions/additions are welcome. I have one favor to ask. Tentatively, my page is called "Bruce, Bob and Jewel" (Springsteen, Dylan and Kilcher), my 3 favorite artists. I wanted to pick a name that would correlate to all three. Right now, I'm stuck on "Freeze-Out." Bruce:10th Avenue Freeze-Out Dylan:Freeze-Out was the working title of "Visions of Johanna" Jewel:????Can't get anything off the top of my head. Any suggestions? I want to correlate Freeze-out on each page some way, in a lyric, song, whatever. So, please, stop by the site and email me your Jewel "Freeze-Out" suggestions. Winner will get free Angelfood of their choice. Thanks in advance, Jeff The Angel Who Just Arrived Here From the Coast === "I've got my Bob Dylan mask on. I really like the music of Jewel and wish I had been at one of her concerts. I agree with the other about the lack of attention Jewel gets in the Netherlands. At the moment I am staying in Boston, MA though so I don't have that problem now. I would really like to get the Bit's 'n Baubles cd, but I don't know how to get to a Targetstore I don't have a car does anybody know how I could get there. Best regards, Jasper ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 21:14:58 EDT From: BRONCOBAND@aol.com Subject: * Atlanta Concert Yes, I was there last night and I had an awesome time! :o) I got to Chastain at around 4:00, had lunch, and did some of my homework before lining up to enter the gate and check out the premises. Though there weren't all that many people there at 7:00, Rusted Root really got the crowd going. I loved seeing all the folks dancing up front... :o) Funny story actually - seated beside me (row x -- wished to have been closer) was a women, her husband, and two very young children of theirs. I told the lady a little about who Steve was and said that I liked his music...then, Steve opened with "Kiss Your Ass"...the lady covered her child's ears awkwardly and eventually her little girl asked what "ass" meant...all I could think of was embarr *ass* ment...the women didn't say much to me the rest of the night. I was a little disappointed with Steve's performance, and I think the crowd took to Rusted Root a little more, but it had it's highlights. The Tree Hugger song was funny :). He said it was something he used to do with the rugburns. And Jewel...breathtaking! Just a little tid bit for those of you who are interested, but weren't there - When Jewel started into hands, instead of the usual she said "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be....that I'm not a vegetarian." Then she added something like to the effect of "I eat lots of red meat, but I always get enough vegetables." After, she told the band to try that one again and proceeded with "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be...that I'm not allergic to anything," and explained that she could eat anything and not get itchy or break out into a rash, but that Steve on the other hand was always itchy and allergic to everything but ____...I missed it, but it was some type of alcohol, if I'm not mistaken. The other add on that she did was saying that she has a little bit of a belly and said that she doesn't see anything wrong with that "and besides, I hate sit ups" :). Of course LJLMA went over well (I loved it :o) it's one of my favorites) and WWSYS was loooong and sounded great. At some point Jewel enthusiastically stated "Stand up, Damnit!" ...and the crowd screamed and stood and danced and clapped along....I had so much fun! I really liked that "brand new song" that she said she hadn't even named yet...I've never heard it before, so it could really be a new one. Well thanks for reading "babies" (from Jewels, "thank you babies" :). Oh and if you saw the girl with a flowerdy hippy skirt and white tank-top with "EDA" on the back and "Jewel"(in a heart with wings) and "Steve" (in a heart with a Halo), that was ME! :o) Laura ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Aug 1999 23:01:53 EDT From: "Greg Butler" Subject: * Millenium Show Hi, I was watching VH1 today andd they were doing some news.
