I won them through Riverports web site, I guess. I'll give them to the first ones who want them and can meet me somewhere before the show. If you do, e-mail me privately with a phone number where I can reach you tonight or Tuesday and if you're going to be able to meet me in the lobby of the hotel where I'm staying between 6:00 and 6:30 pm Wednesday. The tickets are free. I bought it when she wasn't even known. In fact, I bought the CD for about five dollars. I fell in love with her voice and her lyrics instantly. She was so very down to Earth and very warm... I saw her in concert in Toledo when a friend of mine bought me tix for my birthday. I was so excited and I was so happy to see Jewel. I even cried a couple of times. But my opionion of Jewel has changed considerably. I'd really hoped that Jewel wouldn't turn out all Glam. Part of me believes that she deserves what she has -- don't get me wrong, but she is such a bitch. I saw her in concert last week in Detroit... really it was Auburn Hills, she should have gotten that straight before she came out onto stage and said, "Hello Detroit!" I know her life is demanding and what not, but if she doesn't like her job anymore, she shouldn't perform. She was clearly put out with it. I even caught a glimpse of her resting her head on! ! Steve's shoulder several times. I understand she may have been tired, I'm sure a lot of you will come to her rescue -- that is fine:) Even though she put on a wonderful show, she just didn't give me the intimacy I has grown accustomed to, anyone else feel the same? Korie -- The Flightless Angel >> Korie, I agree with you on the lack of intimacy at the Pine Knob show. That usually happens when an artist gets a big as Jewel is getting. I bought lawn tickets (which was a huge mistake). There was sooo much noise from the people around. My favorite song is "Don't", you could hardly hear the lyrics. I swore the next time, I would pay the extra money for the covered seats. As far as an artist calling out the city that they are in...they are told to say "Detroit" because Pine Knob is considered a Detroit venue since nobody knows what/where Clarkesville is. I remember seeing Jewel interviewed for the new cd when it first came out. I thought she had changed. She seemed so shy and soft-spoken when she did interviews for the first cd. She seemed more out-spoken, more confident, more polished for the new cd, which I felt was a shame, since alot of her charm is that she seems very normal and down to earth. But despite all of that stuff (which happens as an artists gets bigger and bigger), you can't deny that her lyrics are wonderful and she is an inspiration. Why is it that Jewel has had pretty much the same setlist for all of her pretty recent shows? I think variety would be more pleasing. But don't get me wrong, I have no problem with it. ~Courtney Marie~ The Painter ^A^ngel ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1999 20:02:23 EDT From: Jwlfan112@aol.com Subject: * NJC: Spirit Tour Helped Poltzie? I'm sure somebody on this list has to know (MrBB? Mike?).. Has Steve's "One Left Shoe" seen any significant rise in sales since he started touring with Jewel? I would think so, since he's such a great live performer, but I'm just curious.. I am in need of help. When I went to the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington, back in July, to see Jewel(of course), they were selling these Spirit Tour Books. I did not know that they were the tour books until later. I thought they were just telling people about who would be playing at the amphitheater later on in the summer. But I was wondering if anyone had an extra one, I don't really have much, but I do have a little money. Please, I'm in need, I really need this book. So please! Have a heart, and help me! -John (Buster2530) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1999 19:37:21 CDT From: "tim johnson" Subject: *St. Paul concert Hey there everyone. What can I say.... AMAZING! Jewel surprised the hell out of me. I mean, I have listened to a lot of angelfood, but hearing her for the first time in person knocked me off of my feet. She was charming, witty and kind as usual. One thing. When I waited outside the auditorium after the show to try to maybe meet her, she pulled a fast one and snuck out the door opposite her tour busses and her and Steve slid into a red Dodge van that looked like the hotel transport type. Now, this came as no surprise to me. I would probably do the same thing in her situation. But here is the weird part. Here I was, standing about five feet from her with the only thing in between us a Van window. She looked at me and saw my EDA shirt and smiled. I'm thinking, "ALL RIGHT! MAYBE MY DREAM WILL ACTUALLY COME TRUE!" Well, thanks to three stupid girls all of that changed in an instant. These girls pull up in a red Cavalier or something like that, get out and start banging on the Van doors! Then they shove a book or picture or something inside the front window. Now as if Jewel is actually going to sign this, right?? I knew right away that would never happen. What surprised me though is that Jewel took whatever this object was and chucked it right back out the window!! Then she got really pissed, as did her security staff, and my chances at meeting Jewel went down the tubes thanks to three drunk stupid girls. Not only this, but then these girls had the audacity to chase the van down the street!! All I have to say is good for Jewel. People like that are why stars quit meeting their fans. I only hope that they didn't put a permanent impression of Minnesota in Jewel's head, because I want her to come back someday.
