Me, again.. Listen, I was thinking (I know, dangerous habit, but...). I need to do *something* with my Jewel page (http://members.tripod.com/~KoffeeKing/~jewel.htm), and well, here's what I came up with: A compilation of the various EDA's reviews from the Spirit Tour. Now, what I wanted to know, is, if I put the person's name and e-mail on the actual HTML document, would that be alright? I mean, I am not doing it to make money or anything, just thought it would a good way to contribute to all of this w/out ripping anyone else's ideas. Plus, I could put a link to the EDA page as way, so it would be a good thing all the way around. I'll wait a couple days to see what everyone on the list says, and if it is cool, I will try and start with what I have available (I became a member of the list w/Digest #468). Thanks, gang.. Well, I saw jewel on 8/13 and 8/14 in Chicago and Milwaukee. She was great both times! I was especially excited to finally hear Carnivore live at the Milwaukee show! She wore the same outfit on both days...all black with a sheer red bandanna. I felt bad for her though in Milwaukee cuz her shirt was very low cut and her red bra was very very obviously showing. I wanted to tell her to pull up her shirt but oh well. I'm sure the guys enjoyed it :P I did get to meet 2 edas at the chicago concert. I met Jay Johnson and sara..the fanatic girl :) Anyways, both shows were beautiful! Oh, and the tour book is very nice..definetly worth the money. Well, cya l8er angelz! Love Always, *~Kristen~* {{ThE aNgEl StAnDiNg By}} PS: to all the chicago edas..sorry we didn't get to have a meeting. I was caught in traffic on 294 and I know other edas who were backed up too. Hopefully we can all getogether another time though. PSS: Steve ruled!!!!!! Ok, call me slow but, I did not know that Jewel made a commercial for her cd B&B. I just now seen it! She was playing big blue and singing Chime Bells, it was awesome!! I was like, THAT'S JEWEL, lol!! I wasn't paying attention 'cause I was here reading email and then I turned my head a tad and seen her on. At the end she says, "that will not be on the cd" chime bells she means. As for DSL, I went to the mall today and got the DSL sheet music. She looks extremely beautiful!! Call me obsessed but I just got it for the picture, hehe!! Ok, so if anyone has that commercial, Lemme know 'cause I would really love a copy. Thanks! Talk to you later! Concert Hello All: Well, I just got back from the show in St. Paul, MN. All I can say is AMAZING. Rusted Root did a great job & Steve was awesome of course. Jewel, well, there are just no adequate descriptive words for her. I will not go into the setlist but it was pretty standard, except she sang Happy Birthday to Brady & a song she said she wrote at soundcheck - no title. Anyway, the real reason I am writing is to inquire if anyone taped/took pictures of the show. You see, I am thoroughly convinced she dedicated 'Angel Standing By' to me. I don't know if you guys remember me, but the only other time I posted was to alleviate some "bickering" about some small thing. In my post, I wrote about a particularly dark time & how that song saved me (literally). Needless to say, I was quite taken aback when she said Chris. I never thought the e-mail would get back to her. (Mike, Mr. BB.... can either of you confirm that was actually me or that she got the email. Otherwise, I'll feel REALLY STUPID). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE say somebody taped it. Please e-mail me at: cryan10@hotmail.com. Thanks, Chris "The angel that's glad to be alive" ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Aug 1999 01:52:35 CDT From: "Brian H" Subject: * St. Paul Concert WOW! WOW! WOW! That sums it up. I don't know how well I am going to be able to put it into words, but I will try my very hardest. =) I didn't write a setlist, I figured I wanted to concentrate on other things, so i didn't even bring anything to write it on, but I will just share some of my comments. Starting from the beginning. Rusted Root was just amazing. I kind of assumed that they would be just the burden that made me wait longer to see Jewel, but they were so entertaining... Wow. I need there CD. Does anyone know if they are available?? Or how I can get them?? I really would like it, and they didn't have it available at the concert. Poltzie.... what can I say? Hilarious, gosh, he is so great. The ABC song was great. But he didn't do the Star Wars song or Waterfalls, and I've heard they are both really great. The did the Prince song though. ;) He personalized all of his songs to like minnesota stuff, it was great. And then... JEWEL!!!! I'm very proud of myself for not passing out. I thought I was going to though. I was intrested in hearing that Italian Opera song, but she didn't do it. But I love Near You Always, so I'm not complaining. Deep Water came next, and then What's simple is True, and then Hands. Jupiter was great, it had a lot of people sining along, so that was fun. ummm. I forget the order from here, but I remember the songs. The "I will follow you down down down" song was so great. I can totally see it as a big hit in the future. :) She said she didn't have a title for it. She also played a song that she wrote during the Sound Check, which was really cool because she calls it the Minneapolis Song, but she was in St. Paul. But whatever. Everyone was doing that, saying how much they love Minneapolis. :) She started playing Carnivore, and said nobody will know it, so I shouted "I know it Jewel!" but I wasn't very loud, because I was kind of in that shocked stage at the moment you know. Well, she started playing it, and then after she sang "So much space, can fit in a sigh" some guy just screamed really loud and high. So Jewel stops completley, and says something like"Ok, tell you what, if I say Scream then scream. But when I say Sigh, then you sigh, don't scream." Then she goes on comparing him to fireworks, and a little dog that was just kicked. She is so funny. But what sucks is that she didn't finish Carnivore, she started playing Grey Matter. Which was great, but I still wanted to hear Carnivore. Barcelona, and Life Uncommon were simply amazing. I cant even describe it. Just trust me, it is was so amazing. Then she let everyone run up to the stage, we had to get past three very pokey girls, so I didn't get very close, and we were behind two extremley drunk guys, and one very tall guy. So that sucked, but still we were like standing next to the center front row seats, so I cant complain. Down was fun, I like knowing that I was the only one that could sing along. Same with Love Me Just Leave Me Alone. Then WYSYS was fabulous. I just love how she does the song. Except, Jewel was very into her dancing, let's just say it wasn't very appropiate for the little girl that was sitting in front of me. AoF, was great, I thought she usually did that accoustic, but the keyboard player that I cant remember his name played. And then Angel Standing By. She asked everyone to be really quiet, but people in the balcony could care less. I was really pissed at them. AND SHE YODELED!!! That was so great, I cant describe that either. Now here are all of the things I forgot to mention: She didn't do the whole drug bust story, which I thought would have been appropiate since someone was smoking pot, and stinking up the area we were sitting, that was one of the low-low-lights of the show. Jewel definatley is dating the guitar player that I cant remember his name. I'm so sorry, it is like 1:40am right now. You could tell that they had something going on. They look like such a cute couple. I got two guitar picks!!! How awesome is that? My sister got Steve's and I got Tony Hall's. I'm so happy. I also got the tour book, which I really recommend everyone getting. It is absolutley worth the money. It is extremley well made. I forgot to tell you about the poetry reading, so here it is: I got the the Mall of America at like noon I think. 2 hours before Jewel was supposed to come on. So, I sat and talked to some really nice people. I also sat next to my cousin's friend. I just thought I would share that because it was really cool that we bumped into eachother. But I bought my signed book which is really cool. I didn't get a heart on mine, because she signed some with hearts, so I'm disapointed. I know, I'm stuipid. They passed out free t-shirts that say something like "Tommy Hilfiger Presnents Jewel" and then on the back it said Summer 1999. It's pretty cool, and then I got a sticker from Barnes and Nobles which they handed out. It's pretty cool, it has the pic from ANWA. Then Jewel finally came on like 20 minutes late, and read a bunch of poems, including my very own requested "Lost" Well, I yelled it, and then she read it, so I don't know, she didn't really talk to me or anything. :( Then she had this interview thing. You like write your question on a notecard and put it in this fishbowl, and then this lady draws it. You could tell Jewel really disliked this Barnes and Noble lady, Jewel was getting very impatient with her ditzynis. (I know that isn't a word, but whatever) I'm trying to remember some questions that were intersting. She talked about Quantam Physics, and Team Roping. Quite the contrast, and about her inspiration for her poems and stuff. It was funny because someone asked who her favorite poets are, and I could answer the question before JEwel could! My question was something like "Are you going to play Race Car Driver at the concert tonight? The EveryDay Angels would be very happy if you did" I really wanted her to start talking about us, but my question didn't make it. :( It was fun, it wasn't the best "Show" ever, but it was a nice preview for the concert. I'm so sorry about this post, it's terrible. Please do ask questions though. I'll answer them!
