My brother came down today, and I was talking to him about Jewel, and then i asked him if he possibly wanted to go to the Tampa concert, since it's "only" 4 hours away from where I live (about 5 hours from him), and he said if we get good seats! Tickets go onsale online tomorrow morning, I'm so happy I'm getting to go! And I have a question for the tapers: I don't have anything great like a DAT, so how well of a recording would a regular tape recorder make? Decent? Half assed? Because I have a kind of small one, and it'll fit in my bag. I had that song on my answering machine for awhile, until my parents found out, and made me change it. I think it's on the John A. (something) Ford Theatre tape. BTW, I found Storytellers quite interesting. I loved WWSYS (When a kitty gets hungry it goes meow meow meow?). I hated how slow she was telling the YWMFM story. It took her about seven minutes to land that baby. That kinda peeved me. All in all, it was a great preformance. I thought it was funny how everyone laughed at her for saying she'd like to study quantam physics. I thought that was great. Aside from the crappy sound not matching Jewel's lips (someone at VH1's fault) in the beginning and the long commercial breaks, it was so great. Seeing myself on tv was a bit scary, but everyone else looked ok (Kirsten, Linds, Kel, Pete, Dennis...and everyone else:) I really wished that they aired Do You Want To Play, but at least they showed the long scat version of WWSYS. I remember that night how Jewel was still getting over a cold and you could hear it a bit, but it didn't affect her singing at all. I am so giddy and I was flipping out watching it and my sisters were like, "how did you get THAT close??"!!! It was awesome. - -Nicole:) angel on horseback ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Aug 1999 23:12:23 EDT From: BigRed217@aol.com Subject: * Unreleased Songs To all the angels- I was wondering how I could go about getting a collection of Jewel's unreleased songs. It was soooo great! I wish it could have been longer. I just didn't want it to be over. I've never heard Love Me Just Leave Me Alone before, and I cant wait to hear it live. Who Will Save Your Soul was so much fun. She does it longer in her concerts right? She put so much emotion into You Were Meant For Me, it was amazing. What was the last song that she sang, the one dedicated to her dad? That was really good. I think I've heard of it before, but I'm not sure. The band seemed like they were enjoying themselves a lot. She is such a great storyteller (pun not intended [c:) The whole drug bust story was great. I really wish she would have done Chime Bells, I heard that she had a cold that night or something though, so it's ok. :) Sorry for me jumping from subject to subject here. Ok, I think that's it for the show, now I have some other stuff to say. Jewel was in that Rolling Stone Women collection, that's really cool. That looks like a really nice collection with a lot of good songs and singers. Oh gosh, I remeber I had more to say, but I forgot it. Sorry folks! All they do is play the same popular songs over and over again (Ricky Martin, Smash Mouth, Etc.). We need to get Jewel played to get Jupiter popular. At first it wasn't in the picture for me because I couldn't get there, now my brother (who is also an EDA) may be able to drive me down. The problem is, it is a 3 hour+ drive there from our house and we can't drive back home after the concert because of the hour (Mom's protecting rules). I don't have enough money for a hotel so I was wondering if there is anybody that lives near Camden who is going to the show that would let my brother and me spend the night? I watched Storyteller's tonight...it was amazing! I loved everything about it. The only thing I didn't understand was why people were laughing about her wanting to study quantum physics...um, what was so funny about that? I'm not taking offense I just didn't quite get the joke there...Jewel was like "what? Yee of little faith". That was kind of funny when she said that though. Another thing I wish they showed was Jewel singing "Grey Matter". I love that song soooo much!! Also, what was that song she played at the end?? She said it was her tribute (sort of) to her dad. It was soooo pretty. It was a countryish type song. I almost started to cry during it, I swear! :) I kind of don't get this list lately. Some of the posts, rather. When "Spirit" came out, some EDA's were complaining about it being too "radio friendly". Now some of the same EDA's are saying that "Pieces of You" is more "radio friendly" than "Spirit". It seems rather contradicting to me but I can't do anything about that. I mean, people do change their minds. Another thing I don't get is that a while ago some EDA's were saying how they wish Jewel never got popular and if they had it their way they she would not be as widely known as she is now. But now all of the sudden the same EDA's are worrying that "Jupiter" is not widely played on the radio station. This also makes me wonder a little bit, but as I said before people do change their minds about things, and who am I to stop them? Well, that's all for now.
