And one day, I saw Jewel at Woodstock (on HBO)! But, it was only the end of the concert! A people who was watching TV too said me that there was the Jewel's concert during about 1 hour and 20 minutes! and I only had watched 4 minutes, arggggggg! So my question is: Could someone send me the video of woodstock or an other video with Jewel? Of course, i'll pay! I live in Switzerland, so do you think that americans videos are the same? Thank you! I think it's good in a way that Jewel's music doesn't seem to appeal to the huge group that watches TRL. (I'm not saying no one on this list watches it. I personally don't because it's a bit too redundant and I don't like BSB, but that's just me.) I'm also not saying that I'm glad these people aren't voting for Jewel. I mean that if she gets played on MTV as much as a lot of what is considered by Carson as "popular", then she will inevitably get overplayed, as all artists (with few exceptions) on MTV do, and people will get sick of her a lot faster. Of course most of us are going to like her a lot for quite a while to come, but that's not the point. I don't remember who it was that said it, but she was right, the only show on MTV that plays music popular and un-popular is 120 minutes. (Lets all say this together: Matt Pinfield is next to God. Yes I do idolize him.) And it's already been proven that TRL is rigged. Anyone remember the plot to get NKOTB on? Yeah, first day was xx%(I don't remember the percentage): Other, because they are not popular now. (With the exception of Jordan and Joey) It seems to me that the artists/bands that aren't on TRL have a huge cult following, and the ones that are on have fans that might just be "band of the week" fans. The people on TRL aren't meant to stay around for the next ten years. Jewel isn't on, Metallica isn't on, Tori Amos isn't on. (kind of reminds me of the saying "the can that rattles most is least full", being as songs that get played most have least meaning). Just thought I'd share. love and luck always Courtney "You ever look at a dollar bill, man? There's some spooky stuff going on with a dollar bill, man. And it's green too." I heard somtime in the fall but that's all I've heard. You see I live in Cameron, MO which is a town near Pattonsburg, MO which is where the film was made. One of my friends was actually an extra in the movie and I got to visit the set once with her except Jewel wasn't filming that day so it kind of sucked but I did get to meet Skeet Ulrich which was really cool. If you guys have any information about the movie please e-mail me. >> Universal Studios has a brief web page about "Ride with the Devil". There's a photo of Jewel with her co-stars in full period costumes. So, no they are not the same. However, I heard of people seeing Woodstock in Europe so maybe someone has a tape in PAL format! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1999 23:07:02 -0400 From: "Russell Luyt" Subject: * Toronto EDA gathering My name is Russell and about a week ago I put a post for those EDA's attending Toronto's concert and got two responses. Now that I see so many more people are interested in this get together, to save time, I am putting this message to the entire list. As of right now, there are two other EDA's (and a couple of their friends) plus myself confirmed, I think 4 or 5 more EDA's interested and maybe more. Anyway, what myself and the first two EDA's have decided on was to meet outside the main entrance (off of York Street) of the Air Canada Centre, the one by the huge parking lot by the statue of some contemporary artwork. This will take place at approximately 4:30. Then we will decide on a place to grab something to eat and talk and stuff to put in time before the concert starts at 7:30. I don't think it will be a problem seeing everyone as the centre should not be busy around 4:30 in the afternoon (only committed fans such as ourselves would do something like this I think!). I will be wearing a beige Jewel t-shirt with her picture on the back and "A Night Without Armour" written on the front. I am about 5'9", have blonde hair and am 21 years old. I hope this gives everyone enough info. and I am looking forward to meeting everybody!!! I absolutely agree In that post i did add that i didn't think jewel should become like the the bands who are making it on countdowns. TRL really has nothing to do with this. It's all about the radio. Hands was played on the radio, DSL only like week on my local station. And jupiter has yet to be heard more than once. I know for a fact that they have it too because it was played on the overnight shift (like 3:30 AM) after i requested it every half hour for a whole weekend. I don't want jewel to get burnt out at all, but also she has to show some kind of success. if every single she releases begin to be flops on the radio, how many more can we expect her release?? while i will be a jewel fan forever, i will listen to all her music forever. She has to show success to be able to produce more, that doesn't mean she has to produce a record breaking smash that will stay on top for months. But she has to show something. MTV doesn't play musch music anymore anyway. Kudos to VH1 for playing it on back 2 back tho. my theory is the radio stations are timid about it cause DSL didn't go anywhere, altho i think they didn't give it much of a chance either....my friends who don't like jewel say that DSL is their fav. But the radio wouldn't play it either. there's my 2 cents again. i guess i wasn't clear before, i don't think it is imparitive to get on MTV, just the radio. <3peace=) always Mel Marching angel ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V4 #449 ***************************
