(i'm from greenfield) and i was with my mom. (cuz i don't have any good friends that like jewel) and we didn't really know where we were going down there so we decided to go to the meadows and check out where we were going to park..ect. and it was about 2:30 i think. and we looked around a little and we were trying to get backstage passes, so i spotted a guy that had a thing around his neck. you know what i mean. and i was like hey mom go talk to him! so she did and it turns out i found the right guy to talk to cuz he was someone who actually works for jewel!! he was sooo nice. we asked him if he had any backstage passes and he said no. but that he was going to try to get some for his family and if he could he would try to get one for me! i was like thank you so much. so we gave him our seat #'s and told him to come and get us if he got any. so we left there and went back to our hotel room for a while did some other boring stuff that i don't need to say. went to some flower shop before the concert and bought a boquet of flowers to give to jewel just in case. so then we went to the concert 2 hours early and bought 2 jewel shirts. and walked around and what not. and then finally at 8:00 rusted root came on and they were pretty good. (i never heard any of their music before) and then when the lights came on after they were done. i saw the guy that i had talked to before and he motioned for me to go to him and he was like here. and he gave me a backstage pass!!!!!!!!! and told me to follow him. so i grabbed my mag and flowers and followed him. there was only like 7 other people that were back in this little fenced in area where that guy took me. we waited like 10mins and finally jewel walked out. she got a picture taken with some people who had camera's!! i didn't bring mine cuz the didn;t allow them. but the other people must have snuck them in or something. well, anyways jewel went down the line of people and signed a bunch of stuff. and when she got to me i held out my mag for her to sign and she did and then i gave her the flowers i had got for her. then out of no where i asked for a hug and i really wish i remember what she said but i don't any way she hugged me!!!!!!! and when i was hugging her i remember saying to her i love you sooo much. and them she let go and moved down the line some more. i can still remember her hair kinda in my mouth when i was hugging her and telling her that i loved her. it was just a dream come true. and i will never forget it! i hope you all like my story. have a nice day!!!!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jul 1999 11:26:24 EDT From: POYJewel@aol.com Subject: * Camden Show Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever been to a show in Camden ? b/c I was wondering how hard it would be to sneek in a camara? and Who else is going to the show on aug 4 i have seats in section 102 row q seat 20! good seats center stage!! Attention all Houston, TX (and surrounding areas) EDAs! Plans are being developed to have another gathering towards the end of the summer for those who couldn't make it to the last gathering for Jewel's Woodlands concert, and so the rest of us can reunite again. :-) EVERYONE is invited to this...whether you've been to an EDA gathering in the past or not. Ok, here are the plans... Keep in mind this is all still in the early stages, so for now, I'm just trying to get some idea of who is interested, and thinks they would want to and *could* make it to this. Sometime towards the end of the summer a group of us felt it would be fun for everyone to get together at Astroworld in Houston. I'm sure most everyone knows what that is. :-) Some people call it Six Flags Astroworld, same place. This is the one in HOUSTON, not Dallas, to avoid any confusion. I've already have about 10 responses from EDA's saying they would go to this...so for anyone else who would be interested in joining us for one extremely FUN day at Astroworld, then e-mail me back so I can get a list of names going. Please don't write me if you're not sure. The day scheduled will be Saturday, September 11. I'll continue to collect names for about 2 weeks, then will post a more detailed letter to the Jewel list again. As far as prices go...I can get tickets for $22/each. The place I work at has a deal they've worked out with Astroworld where all the employees can buy tickets at a discounted price. The normal gate price is about $36, so that's a $14 savings! :-) The only requirement would be that I'd need the money beforehand, so I can pruchase all the tickets at once. Then I can bring them with me to the park and pass them out to everyone there. I'd like to have all the money at least a week before the day we decide to meet on. To make sure I have time to get the tickets. Being that most of you are within a few hours driving time from here, I can't imagine it taking more than a day or two for the money to get to me by regular mail. And for those who don't trust sending me $22, let me know, and I'll give you the names of 5 other EDA's that can back up my word. :-) Like I said, there are already about 10 EDA's who have told me they would go, and think it's a great idea! So if YOU want to join in, meet many new EDA's for the first time, and hang out with fellow Jewel fans while having a blast at Astroworld, then write me back! We're 4 for 4 on having successful TX gatherings now, so let's make this one the best of them all to close out the summer! Right now, all I need is a reply stating: 1) You're interested in going 2) Tell me if you can think of any other ideas or have any suggestions on how we can make this gathering even better! Once I get all the replies in, say in about 2 weeks, I'll send another letter to everyone about where to send the money and more details.
