First of all, Steve opened and was absolutely awesome. He actually pulled someone from the crowd onto the stage and gave them a glass of wine. I was so jealous. Then Jewel went on and sang the best 2 hour set that I have ever heard. I felt bad at the beginning because she was coughing a lot and seemed kind of sick, but after the first couple songs, she was in the best mood and sang great. She talked to the audience for a really long time (which I love) about how Steve got new shoes and how she used to stalk him at the Innerchange. Then she went into a story about how Steve never liked to say the line "I break the yolks and make a smiley face" because he thought that it was too girly. The whole story was hilarious and then Steve sang that line as "I stabbed the yolk". At the end, she sang Chime Bells which just topped off the whole night. The only complaint I had about the setlist was that there were only a couple of songs that weren't on the albums. But it was still great anyway. I do have a couple of questions though. First of all, I bought a T-shirt that said "I drink like Poltz" on it. Does anyone know what that means? I assume it means that he drinks a lot seeing as he had a bottle of wine on stage with him and that he was hung over, but does anyone know for sure? Also, if anyone taped the show, I would love to trade some of my angelfood for a copy. Finally, I think that I was sitting right in front of some EDA's. I'm wasn't sure so I didn't ask them, but they were some of the only people who were cheering for Steve (besides me of course). They also shouted SIBTW, which not many other people have heard of. I think they were in Row RR. Hey Jewel people!! I just wanna tell ya all about last wknd.... WOW.... okay here it goes.. Friday morning I wake up at 4:00am (UGH) to hopefully get AMAZING pics of Jewel at the Today show. Lugging all my camara gear only to find that it wuz cancelled BTW, I'm a professional photographer (weddings, portraits, landscapes) so you can imagine I was VERY disappointed. Then Friday night I somehow manage to sneak my camara into the PNC bank show! WHEW! Sitting in the 400 section, I definetly needed to use my BIG zoom! Great show too! She sang Sometimes It Be that Way and Cold Song!! But, didn't yodel :-( My friend Tom recorded the whole thing including Steve's set. His songs are VERY funny!! Good news = I just got my pics back yesterday and they are AWESOME!! Saturday night was ROCKING with 3rd row center seats at Jonesbeach!! We left the illegal gear behind to enjoy the show more! Steves set was WAY better than last night. Brought a girl on stage this time (not me, oh well) Cool thing was that when he was about to sing "Silver Lining", everyone was sitting except for me. And he points right to me and says "I dedicate this one for you"! Then Jewel comes out WOW!! Most of the show, she is standing RIGHT in front of me at the very edge of the stage. I could touch her if only she put her hand out! Her set was different than at PNC.... She skipped those 2 songs I mentioned before, but this time she sang a short version of Chime Bells and YODELED at the encore! ****** ATTENTION all people who know me from Storytellers = GUESS WHAT!!! Jewel was wearing the EXACT same shoes that I wore on the show except hers were dyed green!! Trust me, I studied those shoes for like half the show and they definitely are the same ones! I also noticed that she wore these shoes at Woodstock too (I caught that on Pay-per view). SO..... hopefully all of you are gonna watch the Storytellers show on Sunday night (VH1). For those who dont know about what happened... When I stood to ask Jewel a question, she says to me "Oh your shoes are so cool, are they Prada?" I really think my moment with her will NOT be edited from the show. DON'T MISS IT!!! During "Absence of Fear" & "Angel Standing By", my eyes filled with tears. These songs reflect things in my life right now and it just felt like she was singing to me. We made a LOT of eye contact too (the fact that I was standing on my chair in 3rd row had a lot to do with that)! One more concert to go.... I got 8th row at the Camden show Aug. 4th! P.S. I met some GREAT EDA's at both concerts (Hi Amy, Jordana, Nicole, Danielle, Pete) wished I met more.
