Doubt it, I dont think Jewel has any real contact with Nikos. I watched the background closely and the only person I saw that I knew was Lee Greene, he was in 2 scenes, Jewel is sitting in his lap at one point (dont start any rumours, there is no way Jewel and Lee are a couple). I did'nt see her brothers, I'm not 100% sure what Atz Jr. looks like though. And I assume Jewels mom was obvious to everyone since she introduced her. I have to say I was'nt expecting much from this show but I think it was the best Tv apearance I've ever seen Jewel do. Just her talking not being interviewed, I felt like I actually got to know Jewel and not watch some polished package presented on a talk show. Fox is going to air on August 3rd-I believe its a Tues- a Woodstock special. They even mentioned and showed a 1 sec. clip of Jewel. NJC-"That 70's Show" Rules! an annonymous EDA writes: >> So needless to say, MTV has once again proved they suck. They're about as fake as anything can possibly be.<< snip>> They even talked alot more about Elvis Costello than Jewel, even Tragically Hip! << I think MTV does try TOO hard to please the masses. I think they did a very good job at covering this last weekends Woodstock, but they left ALOT out of their 1515 News(formerly Week in Rock). Yeah, they failed to only show some of the headliners for 2 minutes. I guess the producters didn't want to be called Lilith wierdos by showing clips of the women who played Woodstock. I can only speculate. Didn't anybody read the article of the audience's reaction to Jewel's set and Elvis Costello's set? It's practically night and day; one crowd cheeks wildly, the other yells out "you suck". C'mon, we don't always need MTV to show us the latest Jewel performance...thats where VH-1 comes in handy :-D See you So.Cal EDAs on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! Jewel looked extra-fantastic, but more important, I think, was all the imagery used in the video. That's what really made it for me! I loved the beams of light- yes even the one that shot out of her mouth. Do you think they were supposed to represent shooting stars? The cut-up vertical strips of her, and how they slowly put themselves back together to for one image- that was cool. And, oh!! That sanskrit combined with Jewel looked just absolutely tremendous! It was a pity that jewel didn't get to complete all she wanted to at the video shoot, and had to leave some stuff out- now we will be left wondering what we missed! Better than "Hands' and "DSL", IMO. >They cut her short so >that they could play Collective Soul instead!! Probably the reason for this, was that the replay finished at 6 AM(EST) instead of 12 PM(EST) for the other two the other two days, thus, they had to squeeze as much in as possible. Also, Jewel did get a full broadcast the first time around, while Collective Soul(who were at the west stage)didn't- besides don't sell Collective Soul off- they a great band! It's a pity that something that is supposed to represent PEACE had to end in the fashion that it did. Now, the Woodstock name will forever be tarnished with images of Sunday night/Early Monday morning. it wouldn't surprise me if there was never a Woodstock again! And maybe the fires had something to do with the musicians not performing a tribute to Hendrix- Mike, Mr. BB do you know anything on that? I thought they tried to give too much meaning out of hte video and it took away from the song! I think it was way too complex for a simple video. A video like Foolish Games or YOu WEre Meant for Me had so much more depth than this, i thought! It completely bored me! I must sound horribly mean! But, i do like the new version of the song. Another thing i didnt like was how between shots she said she was anti-image and all that, but then she's getting her makeup all done and she's dressed up way too much. i mean, i dont htink she looked bad, but her views just didnt seem consistent. It's Ok, everything seems to finally be fixed again. Just wondering if anyone knows what type of dog Jewel was holding in the beginning of the Making of Jupiter last night? Looked awfully lot like a Dachshund, and since that's the type of dog I have I was just curious. :-) Just to let you know I've been having some e-mail problems the last couple of days since my Internet Provider changed hands. Hopefully my original address will be fully restored within the next couple of days and I will be able to send out from my other address. Ok, I watched the Jupiter video again, and I sorta understand the flashing stuff since its a song with a lot of commotion but I think they went overboard with it. The parts with the flame were a bit cool but it made angel Jewel look like the devil.. Besides my island at night setting with Jewel looking very natural and bright stars and the moon & flashing lights from the stars on her with her arms open looking up at the sky on the commotion parts.. that i named before.. i was thinking for the flame part they couldve had her holding a torch with a burning flame, and and move it to the beat, and then have a trail of stars as it moved leading into the sky, blending in with the real stars. At the very beginning they could've showed her twisting and falling into a dark hole with bright stars and then winding up on that island place at night. And the .. lay me out in firelight, she shouldn'tve looked like she was burning in hell, but maybe laying on one of the hammock things on the island at night swinging back and forth and with an overhead view of the stars that suddenly have a natural red glow to them shining down on her. On the swallow the moon part, it wouldve been cool if they showed her mouth moving saying those words, and show the moon quickly inbetween her words, rotating just a bit everytime. At the end, I was thinking like big fireworks in the sky while she's sitting there looking up with her feet in the water on the island, with nature around her. And for the makeup, she would look so much nicer with a little more of a natural look. Ok, I know I'm not the director and I never will be, but I wish the directors would've heard my idea cuz I like it better than theirs heh.. Ok I'm not trying to sound pushy but I thought my idea would've been so much better for the video. If you like my idea please write back.. Well, media did a good job at it on Sunday.. The radio station played two of the songs from her set, "Foolish Games" and "Hands".. Then the two guy DJ's started talking about their fantasies concerning Jewel.. And then MTV just had to build on that by not showing ANY part of her set.. I must admit that Ananda Lewis is my favorite vee-jay now.. She got all hyper talking about Jewel twice over the weekend.. About the rest of Woodstock: I think it's so sad when a festival that's all about peace and music can turn into such an ugly, idiotic rampage.. So what if the prices were ridiculous? I wasn't even there, but I don't see how in the world organizers would ever put together another Woodstock.. The name is tarnished now.. But what do you expect when you get Limp Bizkit, Metallica, Korn, and all them together? Oh well.. Going to Lilith.. Scott ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 13:02:01 EDT From: Jwlfan112@aol.com Subject: * Yes, I MUST write a Jupiter review! Where to start? Overall impression: I REALLY liked it, my favorite Jewel video ever..! When I heard Matthew Rolston was going to be the director, I got SUPER hyper!! He's so awesome with dealing with Jewel! BUT, I think I could've done the video better.. The symbolic, flashing, Baz Luhrmann type stuff was fine and all, but with all the great sets they had, I would've focused more on how beautiful Jewel looked and how amazing the sets were.. I did love the flashing flames.. I would've also spent more time on the orange glowing set.. Jewel has got some sexy lips :-Þ.. Alright, on to my Favorite Moment: Well, I really have two.. I loved the part where Jewel was eating with the curlers in her hair and she looked at the camera like a deer in headlights.. I was also cracking up at the toothpaste part.. You know, "If you can't have straight teeth, you can still have white teeth".. I must've played that a million times.. Okay, I still gotta write my Woodstock impression, so I'm out..
