Mary Dolan, who you may have heard on the Future Folklore 3 tape (which is availible from the Angelfood Bank at http://www.angelfoodbank.org ) or at a Living Room concert, is touring the country and making a stop in the Windy City. I highly suggest going if you can make it, as she is a spectacular musician and a really friendly person. Yesterday, I requested Jupiter two times and each time they told me they would play it. Well, after hearing Ricky Martin for the billionth time I called back a third time. The guy I talked to was super nice. He told me that they did have it, but since it was so new, he wasn't sure if he could play it yet because if it wasn't on his list of songs then he didn't have a number for it so he couldn't play it (I think that must be DJ lingo, because I had no clue what he was talking about). He promised me that if he could find it then he would play it. I listened for three hours after that and figured if he hadn't played it by 1:00am then he probably couldn't find it. Plans are being developed to have another gathering towards the end of the summer for those who couldn't make it to the last gathering for Jewel's Woodlands concert, and so the rest of us can reunite again. :-) EVERYONE is invited to this...whether you've been to an EDA gathering in the past or not. Ok, here are the plans... Keep in mind this is all still in the early stages, so for now, I'm just trying to get some idea of who is interested, and thinks they would want to and *could* make it to this. Sometime towards the end of the summer a group of us felt it would be fun for everyone to get together at Astroworld in Houston. I'm sure most everyone knows what that is. :-) Some people call it Six Flags Astroworld, same place. This is the one in HOUSTON, not Dallas, to avoid any confusion. I've already have about 10 responses from EDA's saying they would go to this...so for anyone else who would be interested in joining us for one extremely FUN day at Astroworld, then e-mail me back so I can get a list of names going. Please don't write me if you're not sure. More than likely the day scheduled will be August 21, or September 11. Both days are Saturdays. I think right now we'll be leaning more towards the Septemeber date, mostly since it'll be slightly cooler (in theory) outside, and also everyone will be back from their Labor weekend trips, parties, etc. I'm just trying to get some feedback right now. For the next week or two at least. But if 10 out of 12 people say they can go on August 21 for example, then it may just end up being that day. I'll continue to collect names for about 2 weeks, then will post a more detailed letter to the Jewel list again. As far as prices go...I can get tickets for $22/each. The place I work at has a deal they've worked out with Astroworld where all the employees can buy tickets at a discounted price. The normal gate price is about $36, so that's a $14 savings! :-) The only requirement would be that I'd need the money beforehand, so I can pruchase all the tickets at once. Then I can bring them with me to the park and pass them out to everyone there. I'd like to have all the money at least a week before the day we decide to meet on. To make sure I have time to get the tickets. Being that most of you are within a few hours driving time from here, I can't imagine it taking more than a day or two for the money to get to me by regular mail. And for those who don't trust sending me $22, let me know, and I'll give you the names of 5 other EDA's that can back up my word. :-) Like I said, there are already about 10 EDA's who have told me they would go, and think it's a great idea! So if YOU want to join in, meet many new EDA's for the first time, and hang out with fellow Jewel fans while having a blast at Astroworld, then write me back! We're 4 for 4 on having successful TX gatherings now, so let's make this one the best of them all to close out the summer! Right now, all I need is a reply stating: 1) You're interested in going regardless of when it is 2) You're interested but can only make it on a certain day (pick one) 3) You're interested but can't go on either day mentioned above. In this case, tell me when a good time for you would be. 4) Tell me if you can think of any other ideas or have any suggestions on how we can make this gathering even better! Once I get all the replies in, say in about 2 weeks, I'll post a letter with the confirmed date, then let everyone know whose already contacted me. Then we'll move on to the next step...getting the tickets, etc. Again, anyone is invited! All ages, whether or not you've been on the list for 4 years or 4 days...doesn't matter...you're welcome to join us! :-) I'll keep everyone posted.
