I remember seeing Jewel on the MTV music awards a few years ago and she sang Foolish Games (acoustically i think?) Anyway this was a brilliant performance and i was wondering if anyone knew of a site i could visit to possibly download this. I also have a few photos of Jewel when i met her backstage at her Glasgow Scotland concert and if anyone wants me to e mail them, just let me know. Thanks guys Love Purplejewel "You do not have to be nice - just nicer!" >From Film- Heavy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jul 1999 18:25:17 -0600 (MDT) From: Laurel Crump Subject: * Concert Reflections Okay, so I have one more thing to talk about tonight! I was at the concert, and this security guard came up to me and my friend and said there would be a time when we could go up to the railing before the stage. (Usually they make us stand like, 5 feet back) So, during Jupiter, Jewel got a mic that didn't have a cord, and started walking forward (I was front row center...got there at 11:00 am to wait in line). My friend Kristen kept nudging me to go up there, and finally she pushed me! So I slowly walked up to the stage and put my right hand out. Jewel winked at the audience, and put her left hand out. I kinda shook, kinda just touched her hand (I wish I woulda put my other hand out so I coulda SHOOK her hand..but whatever, I was nervous!). THen I went back to my seat...and all of a sudden felt really DUMB! I felt like it wasn't really her style to do that "yeah, you can touch me" thing. And for the rest of the show, she didn't touch anyone else. After I went up there, people were slowly lurking towards the stage. I noticed and went up so I wouldn't loose my spot. ALl of a sudden, it was SO cramped! I mean, you couldn't MOVE! She would walk by and people would reach out and call her name. (It was weird..this tiny girl who was like, 4 asked her Mom who that was, and her mom said Jewel..the little girl puts her hand out and calls Jewels name...it was eerie!..what do we teach young people today!) THe only annoying thing was all these DRUNK guys, yelling at the top of their voice "I LOVE YOU JEWEL!!..TOUCH ME JEWEL!!" **EVEN** while she was singing1 Ohhh. that made me mad, both of them kept yelling, I LOVE YOU...so finally I went "WE all love her! BE QUIET!..It was quite disrespectful of them...it made me mad...the crowd didn't really match Jewel's message. (Whoa! I strayed! Anyway...do you think I should feel dumb?...or any feedback on anything I wrote? Sorry this was so long!) Also, I was at the concert, and they threw a bunch of guitar picks out, I helped the lady next to me reach for one and she got a whitle one that said "Tony Hall"...but THEN, at the end of the concert, they threw another one...I DOVE for it...this one is yellow, says "Jewel" and has her symbol on the back...do you think this one was specifically hers during the show? And the Tony Hall one was his? Or do they just make these to throw out? (Hope you finally got yours Michiel). Sending it out didn't work out too well. This is a Jewel special aired on MTV Asia prior to her first Asian tour. Jewel Live & Intimate was a broadcast from Canada to Asia. Jewel yodels, sings, answers questions (one of the first times she mentions her movie with Ang Lee). Anyway, my mom is leaving for the US this July and can send out the 2 EXTRA COPIES that I have. I am willing to trade or just reimburse my expenses. If you are interested or if you have received a copy/were supposed to receive a copy and had concerns, email me privately at . You only have a few days, my mom leaves next week. It's still a new song in progress & subject to change. This transcription is from the version in Dallas last week & is up to date, though. This song rocks pretty hard & must be heard for the full effect, but since so many have asked me for the lyrics, there ya go! Enjoy! Hey Everyone, I heard Jupiter for the first time on the radio today. I was so exited that I was finally going to get to hear the new version everyone has been talking about, but I soon realized it was the same as the album version!?! Anyone know why they might play this version instead of the faster one? Did Jewel realease the slower version as a single as well? I was just glad to hear it on the radio at all. Oh Yeah and on this station they always ask people to call in and say if they think the track will be a gold record or go in the discount bin. After they played it they said most people said it would be gold so I was relived because if most people say discount bin they won't play it. Basically the interviewer played songs at random and had Duncan comment on them. The last song played was Jewel's "Kiss The Flame"; here is what he said: "My first tour was with Jewel. I like Jewel. I like her attitude about music. I like the idea that she is trying to uplift people through her music. I'm in support of that. I wish she were a more adventurous songwriter in terms of her guitar playing and voicings. It can get a little 'ice cream' for me. I respect her voice. I respect her enormous talent as a performer, and her ability to really engage people in that forum. I like the ambient quality of this song. Its all recorded really well, with great musicians, and they really got it together and made a fine sounding record. This song is fine sounding to me. Really well done." In case you are wondering, the magazine is called "The Musician's Planet". Its published by a music store chain called MARS. ~Steve The Indie Angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jul 1999 22:57:38 EDT From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: * MrBB-HGH/EDA Workshop Update!
