Its only been about two years since I wrote the list :) This was my first opportunity to see Jewel since Jewelstock. I took a friend who loves Jewel but never had the opportunity to see her live. We hitched up the wagon about 2:45 CDT time and made the almost 4 hour journey south to UNO. After feasting at Subway (I spare no expense), we made our way to our seats in section Q, row 1. The seat weren't bad, but not really that good either. One of the students at the college I work for (yes I'm that old), had front row seats. Its a good thing she graduated ;) After sitting through 45 minutes of Steve Poltz (I kind of enjoyed his music but my fried was utterly horrified), Jewel finally hit the stage. She absolutely blew my friend and me away. Its just a shame that they can't capture her electricity on a CD. I didn't write down the set list, but I remember a new song she called Cleveland that rocked. She sang a lot from the Sprit CD and finished the night with Chime Bells. Her brother (I forgot his name already...old age again) played harmonica on a couple of time and yodeled with her. That was really cool. I hated the night to end. I signed up for ANAR(needing a ride), but things have arose and to go would pose me a slight problem. Sorry everyone who may have been looking forward to seeing me. Also, I have a ticket to the July 23rd concert in Holmdel, NJ however I lack a mode of transportation. I was going to be going with a friend and his girlfriend but they broke up and aren't going and sold their tickets to someone else. I have a set of 3 questions that will all suit my needs in order of preference (only need to answer one) hehe :) 1.) Is there someone from the Philadelphia area that is going that can pick me up on the way to the concert? 2.) I can get to NJ Transit so is there someone in New Jersey that is going that can pick me up at one of the NJ transit stations?(specify the station and I'm there) 3.) Is there a NJ transit stop either really close to or that goes to the PNC Bank Arts center itself that I can take to get there? :) If (1) or (2), Are you going to the pre-picnic before that was posted about on the list about a week ago? Anyway, GUESS WHAT WE SAW!! We went into a little corner vintage shop and on the wall was an autographed, framed picture of Steve Poltz!! So of course after I calmed down, I talked to the store owner. He said that his sister used to date another member of the Rugburns years ago and thats how she knows Steve!! Anyway, back to the store owner; he said that Steve shops there everytime he's in the area, in fact - he said that Steve was just there last week!!! (Damn, missed him)! The owner had a cowboy style black and white shirt along with a matching cowboy hat hanging behind the counter. He said they were holding it for Steve since he knew he would want it!! I asked him if I could take a picture of the autographed picture AND the outfit. First he said he would not usually allow that but for me he would :-) Cant wait to see them!! Then the owners sister was there so we talked to her. She said she never got to meet Jewel but Steve has invited her to his place in California although she hasnt gone yet. On my venture down South St. I also saw something pretty kewel! Tom and I stopped into this poster shop somewhere near South St. and 5th (i think) and they were selling actual photographs taken of movie stars and famous musicians. We looked through and found a Jewel poster.... She was singing on stage with a blue background , it was okay, didn't buy it though (I figured I might get better shots when I go to the Today show concert appearance on July 23rd!) So we looked some more and found two AWESOME real photos of Jewel! They are 8x10in. in color and selling for $6.50 each! It's Jewel with short blonde hair (probably a couple of years old) lounging on a red couch and playing with her sweater in a cute way that her belly button shows ~ LOL. Has a great smile on the pic too! So Tom and I grabbed them but....dont worry people! The store owners said they get tons of pics like these all the time to sell. So if your in town ever, check it out! By the way, I asked if they would purchase any of my Jewel pictures that I took at VH1 storytellers of any future ones I might get....... But they said no :-( They have some kind of agency that gets these for them. oh well, there loss right?!! Have a great weekend everyone ...
